The first movie was seemingly accidentally too poignant for hollyjews and resonated with a lot of people. It held a mirror and highlighted how retarded the world we live in is. They had to actively rape the joker to death in order to backpedal this. To an extent it has worked, nobody talks about it at all now besides tearing it apart for memes.
