>taking the pissWhy do bongs talk like that?
>>223693065Don't ask the messenger luv
>>223693065>"Take the piss" may be a reference to the related (and dated) idiomatic expression piss-proud, which is a vulgar pun referring to the morning erection that a man may have when he awakens or may be caused by a full bladder pressing upon nerves that help effect an erection. This could be considered a "false" erection, as its origin is physiological, not psychosexual, so in a metaphoric sense, then, someone who is "piss-proud" would suffer from false pride, and taking the piss out of them refers to deflating this false pride, through disparagement or mockery. As knowledge of the expression's metaphoric origin became lost on users, "taking the piss out of" came to be synonymous with disparagement or mockery itself, with less regard to the pride of the subject.

And it’s with the mourning colors, black and white, photography was born. It's a poetic musing taken out of context. Not unlike the Steve Albini McDonald's quote now that I think about it.

Something that's kind of annoying regarding older (pre 70s at least) films is that they're very predictable when it comes to anti-hero/villainous protagonists.

>>223708854Philistine, gauche. Lil bro's got a thesaurus.
>>223708425Ford is himself Anti-American. While also being very American. It's called dialectics, you see.
>>223708931>Ford is himself Anti-AmericanNo he isn't. Someone who's Anti-American couldn't make Young Mr. Lincoln, The Long Gray Line, etc.
>>223708964Not only not Anti-American, but was borderline a lost causer at times with his affection for the South.
>>223708914You merely reveal your own ignorance and spiritual sterility.
>>223708964I agree. But someone who's strictly pro-American wouldn't make Sergeant Rutledge, They Were Expendable or The Searchers. You see what I'm getting at?
>>223709021I just hate people that express extremely simple ideas in deliberately obscure ways. By doing so, they merely reveal their own incapacity to be concise and insightful, and their need to hide behind a wall of pedantry to avoid any criticism directed at their ideas. No one can criticize you if they can't understand you.
Well, this was weird, seems like I haved 2 versions of "Trop tôt⁄trop tard", but one looks incredibly awful as if it was recorded from a cinema, and the other plain clean. Which one is more soulful?
>>223709136*had:(
>>223709046>You see what I'm getting at?Yes, but I disagree that self-criticism amounts to anti-Americanism, let alone provides grounds for saying that Ford himself was anti-American.
>>223709111Trips of the simpleton. Doesn't recognize words like philistine or gauche, then goes on a verbose, passive aggressive shit fit in which xhey/xhem is wrong on every beat.
>>223709111I don't think you're not unwrong.
>>223708931you should have phrased this differently.
>>223709384You aren't not correct.
>>223709327No one gives a fuck about your delusions of intellect. Write something worth a fuck with simple words, then we'll talk.
My gf gave me roses, I think she thinks I'm gay
>>223709425>t. bamboo shack dweller
Why don't we all just take a breath and find some center.
OH MICROBE; SHINE MY SHOES AND I'LL LET YOU GO EARLIER TO THAT SHACK YOU CALL HOME...
>>223709534All I want is to breathe Won't you breathe with me?
>>223709384The whole point of dialectics is to use words in perverse ways to try to make untenable claims seem less untenable. Telling him to phrase it differently is essentially just telling him to shut up.
>>223709425>yourYou're the one with delusions of intellect, hence why you whine violently that everyone should be dumbing down their vocabulary to match yours, which ironically makes communication harder for everyone! I know you're type though, you're never wrong. Fucking faggot ass retard can't do a google search for a word most of us knew by 10th grade. Mental nigger
>>223709584Is this ironic or are you actually just a retard cosplaying intellect? My brain is so big it crushes me.
>>223709584I'm tellin ya you better watch out! this anon here, his type! Don't you know about them?!
Why is he larping?
>>223709635Buffoonish post.
>>223709613You should've been raped violently as a baby and thrown in the dumpster.>>223709635KEK
>>223709649Are you sure that's how I deserve to be spoken to, anon?
>>223709684I think even as a baby I would've submitted your 5'5", 110 lbs ass.
>>223709491Were they in a funeral parade (she may think you're trans)?
