Get over it already
The Shining movie is stylish garbage beloved by women
>>223695134he can'the is eternally butthurt
>>223695134All King's movie adaptions are better than his books.
Somewhere along the way, King really got up his own ass and forgot that he is the RL Stein for low-literacy adults and not an actual writer.
>>223695134King lost his balls when he refused to defend Red being a red-headed Irish guy in his book as Hollywood race-swapped him for a Black dude in Shawshank Redemption.
>>223695241It's crazy how so much of King's shit really is just a Goosebumps book with cursing. Amazing how some directors were able to translate that into quality.
>>223695239Because his books suck.
>>223695256People talk about how much Morgan Freeman made the movie and the role, but I think Brendan Gleeson could've done as well / better.
>>223695241No I didn't. And you're wrong, I'd like to see you write something HALF as good as Dreamcatcher or Lawnmower man. That's serious, advanced literature he made that you're just too dumb to appreciate.
>>223695239despite Ian McKellen, the Apt Pupil novella is much better than the shitty bryan singer movie
>>223695154Hi Stephen
>>223695134I find it endlessly funny that all the celebrities who made huge dramatic shows of leaving Twitter either when Orange Man got elected or when Elon bought it, have all slowly come back and pretended they never crashed out
>>223695290kek
>>223695291The novella read like it was written by Stephen Spielberg. >90 year old German Nazi likes torturing cats in his free time because he's a Nazi and even in their private lives they sit around thinking of ways to be evil
>>223695293>Dude, you don't get it! The kubrick stare!
>>223695300They really, really, REALLY wanted Bluesky to be a thing, but it just turned into an actual asylum for schizo troons.
>>223695134Why are you posting a Twitter / X screenshot? Surely you're not afraid of controntation and defending yourself, right?
King should make his own version to BTFO hack Kubrick.
>>223695419a gaming YouTuber I follow called Civvie had a full political tantrum when Trump got re-elected and ragequit Twitter and fled to Blueskyhe's tried slowly coming back but every time he does he gets clowned on so hard he deletes the post
>>223695477he literally did
I just watche Christiane & it was beautiful. 4chan, why do you hate on my beloved Stephen King?
>>223695561Wow I didnt know civvies was a cuck. That's sad because I enjoy his content.
>>223695290Uh oh stinky little vivek doesn't know the lawnmower man movie is different from the short story, not novel.Better luck next time brown stinky!
>Kubrick's version>a deeply flawed man succumbs to his weaknesses which may or not be exacerbated by supernatural forces, ending with the man dying alone in the elements after his family find their own inner strength and wits evade him to flee to an unknown future while the hotel remains to perhaps twist future souls into darkness>King's version>a heckin hard workin down on his luckerino writer gets possessed by ghosts and tries to kill his kid in a clumsy Alice in wonderland allegory as the spoopy haunted hotel literally comes alive trying to attack them with possessed firehoses and topiary animals and the day is save when the 5 year old son goes on an adult soliloquy and convinces his dad not to kill him through the power of love and the hotel explodes into a million billion pieces because the boiler blows up and everything is cleaned up nice and neat
>>223695561I remember him throwing a fit when I called him out for defending James Gunn on there. He tried really hard to pull the "I'm not a liberal shill I'm le apolitical". What a shock he gave the fuck up on that
>>223695134Kubrick discarded the initial script consulted with King and wrote a new one from scratch for his own private MKUltra themed horror.
>>223695134Ignore the fact that every Steven King adaptation that deviates from the source material is good and the ones that are faithful are fucking awful
>>223695273What other films based on his works are worth watching? I love The Shinning and Stand By Me but surely there are more kinos based on this books, right?
Kubrick mostly just condensed the characters and characters and story. Outside tweaks to the ending it still follows the story and is comprised of scenes taken from the book. as far adaptations go it isn't really that far. So I don't know why King is butthurt or why people claim Kubrick made it entirely his own
>>223696284Shawshank Redemption is actually based off a King book.
>>223695273It’s crazy how prolific he is. King has had 55 movies made based on his book. This isn’t even counting tv shows and miniseries. Dude is worth half a billion dollars (not beating Harry Potter sorry!). He can’t even remember writing a large chunk of his books because he was so drunk/coked out. Did he make a deal with the devil?
>>223695334that's exactly why it's so good. it's OTT as fuck. the kid also becomes a serial killer and it ends with him committing a mass shooting.
>>223696284lawnmower man
The book is great, the movie is great, and the TV miniseries is great. If wanted to listen to an asshole’s opinion then I’d just fart.
>>223695154So is that supposed to be an insult or meant to be a promotional blurb on the cover?
>>223695134King was on the island lol
>>223696591Epstein tried to get every wealthy celebrity on that fucking island. Now was he there after Epstein had already gone to prison for sex trafficking? That's the question.
>>223696632>Epstein tried to get every wealthy celebrity on that fucking island. Now was he there after Epstein had already gone to prison for sex trafficking?Stephen King was never on Jeffrey Epstein's island and does not appear on Epstein's flight logs. King's name is not documented in Jeffrey Epstein's flight logs or associated visitor records. There is no record or evidence of him ever visiting Epstein's private island.
>>223695291Seriously. That movie sucked ass.Novella was so much better.
>>223695134>>223696331How did he go from being considered a hack in the early 90s to worth half a billion dollars?https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T8i5EzrOs34
>>223695134It seems like a pointless argument. They are both unique and influential artists that have shaped American culture for the better, even if their approaches are very different. Stanley Kubrick is high art while Stephen King is pop art, and the later never really tried to be more than that. The real issue probably that King is upset because the main character of The Shining is based on himself, and they made him completely irredeemable in the movie.
>>223696717thank you gptposter
>>223695273Kubrick liked The Shining precisely because it was a simple horror story that he could use as a template for his own take on the genre.
