Just finished. RSOS #012
I think this was my first time seeing it in a theater, though I have seen the original in one already. I'm not personally crazy about it, but it is basically perfect, it just doesn't have that magic element for me. One thing that bugs me is they first split up stupidly and have to do that blood test to get back to knowing who to trust in the group again, and then the FIRST thing they do after is split up again, kek! Lol, doesn't really bother me, but come on. I love Wilford Brimley in this, his deep sadness when he's dissecting the Thing and realizing what it is, and his cowboy goofy snarliness when he's standing off against the whole crew: "I'llll kill yu!" lol

Opinions on VHS Mixtape, in my opinion it finally beat Viral as the worst entry of the franchise, there was something there for the no-sound meme room but everything that came after took away the slight interest I got into at that point, my opinion on Viral is similar but at least that one was like an hour long, I had to stand this shit for almost 2 hours.

SVD is a horrible, worthless "franchise". It's just girls puking in shitty apartment bathrooms while the female narrator goes on about how she was endlessly getting raped as a child. It's lame porn by a pretentious middle aged creep.
Guinea Pig 2 has ingenious effects work, a cool premise, a beautiful lead actress, and is the opposite of pretentious. I love it.

>>
>>223723002
The Lovecraft/Music of Erich Zann segment was ok, I liked the dream/vision sequence although to be fair it's just plugging in various Lovecraft tropes but that scene itself was fairly well done. The entire rest of the movie fell flat for me aside from one scene in the final segment and one or two jokes from the wraparound GWAR stuff. Most of the VHSs I find pretty forgettable so I can't say where it stands for me in relation to the others. But it's definitely one of the worst. The Soviet base/no sound room was a cool concept but they didn't really do enough with it imho.

I've had so many found footage ideas over the years, I should write more down. Here's a random one from an old thread
>underground rumour of a mysterious tape that includes an actual audio recording of hell
>main character who is desperate in need of money, goes on a quest to find a copy for his youtube channel
>shady characters seem to confound his search, including a dirty cop who is on his tail for online crypto theft he was involved in
>one of his new found partners knows one detail, that the recording was made via some kind of ritual
>eventually finds a copy, but it is stolen by his partner
>partner is mysteriously found as a burnt out husk, can't tell if victim of crime or spontaneous combustion
>but hey look, there is another a clue - the recording was created with a special set of "satanic antennaes"
>main character falls into a hole of cultists, and finds out the ritual is about sinning, he refuses
>conflict with the cop occurs, and MC murders him on sacred ground, thus completing the ritual of sin
>devil horns grow out of the characters head, allowing them to hear the demonic sounds of hell and the voice of satan, he screams the sounds out loud
>fin

$800 million

$320.2 million

unless you really want to see it in theaters, know that this movie is free in the public domain.
anyway it's a great movie and it's a classic for a reason. you should watch it however you can.
>>
>>223724525
A genuine classic that still holds up very well even if zombies have evolved since. It's shot like an art film and has great pacing, characters, music, etc.
>>
>>223724531
I like both so I do recommend watching them but its not like how Evil Dead 1 and 2 are in terms of how they are the same. Sorority its like they shot the movies back to back under 1 small budget using the same crew and script.

There shoulda been a giallo set at picrel from back then, lotta low class bickering and trying to figure out who, or how they did it in such a clustered hellhole or how the getaways were done, call it “A Bucket of Crabs” with how everybody there is dragging each other down.
>>
>>223724613
what if the theater is playing a 240p print from the national archive

Wipfilms has some of the stuff and some missing stuff but site hasn’t been updated since 2016, for better or worse considering some rips I want are there but not rl. Also it used to directly source torrents from private trackers, and even did stuff like make its own subs for one or two films (see: the house of love the police intervene 1978), just a bit of a shame, also changing from weekly to once every 10 days is also annoying.

I detect your sarcasm but they took this approach for scenes in Dreamchild, a serious drama about the little girl AIW was written for, and it worked great (Jim Henson did it.) It would work great if you got somebody with good taste behind it.
>>
>>223724659
It would still be better than watching it at home, but I would refuse to pay for the ticket. If they insisted on payment, I would pretend to roundhouse kick the booth operator and instead, mid swing, projectile spray a shit fart across their face. Then I'd say "keep the change" and walk into the screening room.
