C S Lewis wouldn't have known what the fuck that meant
the concept of multiverses wasn't conceived until the 60s by a different fantasy writer called Michael Moorcock

in the first book Narnia is more like Never Never Land in Peter Pan, an escapist personification of childish imagination. that's why it's contrasted with the children being sent to the countryside to escape the Blitz.

Wrong.

>"Only dust," said Uncle Andrew. "Fine, dry dust. Nothing much to look at. Not much to show for a lifetime of toil, you might say. Ah, but when I looked at that dust (I took jolly good care not to touch it) and thought that every grain had once been in another world—I don't mean another planet, you know; they're part of our world and you could get to them if you went far enough—but a really other world—another Nature—another universe—somewhere you would never reach even if you travelled through the space of this universe for ever and ever—a world that could be reached only by Magic—well!"

I hate the term dei because it's literally just agitprop spread by useful idiots that worsens the divide of white men vs everyone else.
But Greta Gerwig is a mediocre-at-best director who got incredibly lucky with Barbie (which was shit) and is now pushed as one of the greats purely because they need a female director to band behind and the actually good female directors (eg. Ildiko Enyedi, Céline Sciamma, even Claire Denis from time to time) are too arthouse and not friendly enough for the mainstream crowd.
This film looks like pure boomerslop shit.

probably also because people refused to consider children's books as in the same category as anything else until much later.

Speaking of "Jack" I highly recommend Shadowlands. Good movie. Also sad. The age gap might gross you out but that's what happened. CS Lewis actually has a really weird history when it came to women. He fought in WW1 and when his friend died he came back from the war and fucked his friend's wife.

The trailer is soundtracked to Led Zeppelin’s “Stairway to Heaven,” an impressive sync considering that the band has historically been reluctant to license their music for movies and TV shows.

Gerwig explained that she showed the film to singer Robert Plant and guitarist Jimmy Page and they were so moved that they allowed her to use their iconic song.

“They saw the heart of the film,” Gerwig shared, adding that the musicians understood her love for C.S. Lewis.

Both Gerwig and Colbert agreed it was a fitting song for the film, with Gerwig calling it the “story of the movie,” as the track also explores a “spiritual quest.”

>>
>>223732554
Gerwig spoke about her immersive approach to understanding Lewis’ mindset while writing the adaptation, saying she not only read what he wrote and read, she “tried to walk in his shoes,” visiting the places he inhabited. She also pulled out Lewis’ best and most visually evocative quotes from his writing and kept those in mind as she was working on the script.

Gerwig said she hoped theatergoers would find themselves thinking, “I love watching movies”
And she hoped filmgoers left the theater “wanting to make things,” which she called an “act of hope.”

Gerwig recalled how she was introduced to Netflix when now-husband Noah Baumbach made Marriage Story for the streamer. After learned that Netflix had acquired the rights to the Chronicles of Narnia books — some of her favorites from childhood and which shaped who she became — she “made a beeline” for Sarandos at a cocktail party.

She shared her excitement about Netflix making movies based on the Narnia books and began talking about her vision for the project, that The Magician’s Nephew should be the first film. Roughly 20 minutes later, Gerwig recalled, Sarandos asked if she wanted to write the film

I quite like it too.
Uncle Andrew's causal talk about magic and his fairy godmother and Atlantis made it seem real, like your college professor suddenly telling the class that Santa is real and showing documented evidence outbof nowhere.
Lewis talks about the notion of numinous awe in one of his non fiction works and I felt it most strongly in the Magicians Nephew.

That ending was pure HYPE

Awww they originally made it for Advent/Christmas season

Gerwig’s adaptation of the sixth book in the C.S. Lewis fantasy series, The Magician’s Nephew, was set to be released in Imax theaters this Thanksgiving before heading to the streamer on Christmas Day. The movie will now be getting a release on Feb. 12, 2027 and then will hit on Netflix April 2, 2027.

Netflix pushed back Greta Gerwig’s adaptation of The Chronicles of Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew to expand the film into a full, wide theatrical release rather than a limited run, following an earlier six-week production delay caused by a cast member's injury

Production Delay Follow-Up: Filming previously experienced a six-week pause due to an injury or illness affecting a principal cast member (concluding filming in January 2026), which opened the door for producers and Netflix to re-evaluate and restructure the release calendar.

Theatrical Strategy Expansion: Netflix decided to shift from a limited IMAX-focused distribution model to a major, wide global theatrical rollout. This marks one of the streamer's largest-ever theatrical campaigns

Don't let the noobs tell you wrongly. This is ordered as Book #1 now because everyone's a fucking retard, but it's actually #6 out of 7. It came out as #6, reads like it's #6, has all of the reveals, twists, and ties like #6 would, and not only doesn't read like a #1 would, it spoils shit AND references other shit from later books in the series (because, it in fact comes later, despite what all the dipshit publishers are doing in their boxsets and anthology books).

Narnia will be the biggest theatrical debut release for Netflix to date.
>"The film’s delay until 2027 creates an opportunity to give Narnia an expanded, wide release with a full theatrical window; we support Greta and Netflix in pursuing that opportunity and are pleased Imax could help facilitate,” said Imax in a statement.

On its new date, Narnia will go up against The Nightingale starring Elle and Dakota Fanning. Other early Feb 2027 releases include the Glen Powell comedy from Judd Apatow, The Comeback Kid.

While The Magician’s Nephew is the sixth book in Lewis’ series, it is the first chronologically, and focuses on the creation of Narnia.
