What the fuck did I just watch
>>
>>223734322
Dr No
A pretty unremarkable film all things considered.
What about it did you find so confusing?
>>
>>223734322
james bond's boring vacation in jamaica

the most exciting part of the movie is bond fighting a tarantula in his hotel room
>>
>>223734322
If you want to watch a good Bond movie, you have to watch The Living Daylights.
>>
Yeah the first one blows I almost never rewatch it. The next three are absolute kino starting with from russia with love
>>
>>223734363
>What about it did you find so confusing?
Bond is always very phlegmatic.
>>
>>223734322
Pure kino. The best Felix, and Bond orders a black man to fetch his shoes.
>>
>>223734700
My milleniall sister was absolutely shocked and offended by that scene kek.
>>
>>223734438
this anon is correct
>>
>>223734322
The early Bonds are about the style, attitude, and atmosphere, not stunts and chases, though they have those as well.
>>
>>223735374
This. Dr No and FWWL are pure 60s stylized espionage movies. Goldfinger is when it all went cartoon level ridiculous
>>
>>
>>223734322
>>223734381
>>223734363
>>223734438
>they didn't think bond's vacation in jamaica was a good film
filtered. maybe skyfall is more up your alley

Unironically a top 10 Bond film. Only chuds, faggots, and normies hate it.

ICE COLD
>>
>>223734322
Bond aficionado here. The first 6 Bond films are in the top 10. Then TSWLM, GE, CR, and SF. Anyone who disagrees is a tranny. No Dalton movies because while Dalton was a great actor, his movies were cheap, junky, and low budget. Basically the opposite of OHMSS, which was a great movie with a shit-tier Bond.
>>
>>223736586
I like the grittiness of the Dalton pictures
>>
>>223734322
I marathoned all of the Bond films last year all the way to Craig and can't remember anything before The Engineer's flicks. Absolutely forgettable.

Which is good for me because I can rewatch them sooner. Sean is best bond, if I recall.
>>
>>223736709
Connery is the best Bond. Followed closely by Craig. Then Moore for fun’s sake.
>>
>>223736325
>>223736586
If your arguement is just fanboyism and then preemptively insulting people who disagree then your argument is worth less than shit.

Dude relax it’s not that deep. Dr. No is unironically a good Bond film.

>>223735929
UP IN DA CLUB
>>
>>223734322
Dr No is great, I love how simple it is, it's better than something over the top and silly like DAF or YOLT
>>
>>223734322
soul

>>223734438
One of my favorites
>>
I was pretty close to watching all the early James Bond's, and I think I got about 20 seconds into this one, the first one, and and then I realised that most of the producers were from a certain ethnic background, and then I checked the other films and saw they were all similarly like that. So I made the choice to dip and I don't regret it.
>>
>>223734438
There literally aren't any bad Bond movies until Die Another Day
>>
>>223737471
YOLT is when Connery was fed up with Bond. Whole outer space shit and volcano layer. It’s unfortunate because he was suppose to do OHMSS but weather didn’t allow it so skipped to YOLT. I always wondered what Connery’s Bond In OHMSS would’ve looked like. Hard to imagine his psychopath Bond falling in love
>>
>>223737541
Based and correct. Die Another Day isn't even that bad compared to the Craig shit
>>
>>223736675
I wonder if the reason License to Kill is my favorite Bond film is because it's the least Bond-like Bond film (not counting Craig slop)
>>
>>223734322
I liked how the ending just sorta gets thrown together like an am-dram theatre production
>interior, volcano, bond just takes every cunt out as he escapes (with zero other plot detail)
>>
>>223734322
all pre craig bond films range from trash to okay, and thats the dogone truth
>>
>>223737621
The Craig stuff sucks becasue they're embarrassed to be Bond films.
>>
>>223737621
Solid revenge plot, awesome villain, cute Bond girl, best Q scenes

LTK is definitely top tier
>>
>>223734322
The James Bond franchise only became noteworthy with Goldfinger, which was where it hit upon the formula for all future films in the franchise and changing the story from the book enough to fit that. It wasn't too difficult mostly as a lot of the formula was based on stuff Flemming had in most of the books, but changed just enough to make it not a snorefest like Dr No.
>>
>>223737661
> snorefest like Dr No
filtered loser
>>
>>223734322
This is easily the most boring Bond movie(not counting the Daniel Craig shitfests)
>>
>>223737661
>>hates Dr. No
Kys immediately literally a top 10 Bond film

>What the fuck did I just watch
The first of many Bond films, all of which are remakes of this. It's the same movie over and over: handsome guy, beautiful woman, villain who desrves to die, et cetera. They just kept adding or tweaking stuff: more stunts, more quips, more babes, more gadgets, more camp, less camp, different leading men, recurring characters (Q, M, Moneypenny, Felix), et cetera.

"A Bond movie is not made. It is packaged. Like an Almond Joy. So much coconut to this much chocolate and a dash of raisins."
>>
>>223737809
I am India this pictrue make me happy
>>
The only totally unredeemable Bond movies are Quantum of Solace and Never Say Never Again. It's funny how much critics worshipped NSNA, it was the most critically acclaimed Bond film at the time and all because of Boomers worshipping Sean Connery
>>

I love Dr. No. Past the very beginning, I mean. The mountain chase, the part where he shoots the asshole (you've had your 6), wrangling up the boat, meeting the girl on the beach and convincing her that he's safe "I can assure you my intentions are honorable" or whatever the fuck he says, hiding in the swamp lakes, the fucking dragon lol, the way he shit talked Dr. No the entire time. Nah I loved it even though it was incredibly campy, I think I just really love beach/ocean settings. Also Honey Ryder was a fuckin babe and I love that stupid song she and Bond kept singing
>>
>>223738715
>Never Say Never Again
I thought it was decent, the opening sequence is the best part of the movie though. Literally Metal Gear.
>>
>>223738715
What the hell are you even talking about? Nobody likes Never Say Never Again. It's the black sheep. Everyone knew Connery was too old in Diamonds Are Forever and Never Say Never Again was like 10 years later.
>>
>>223738793
I liked the weird video game part.
>>
>>223738821
He looks so fucking leathery in his last 2 flicks.
>>
>>223738793
Exactly. Besides the titles and the video game section for lols, no reason to watch.

>>223738821
>Never Say Never Again was broadly welcomed and praised by the critics: Ian Christie, writing in the Daily Express, said that Never Say Never Again was "one of the better Bonds",[56] finding the film "superbly witty and entertaining, ... the dialogue is crisp and the fight scenes imaginative".[56]
>Janet Maslin, writing in The New York Times, was broadly praising of the film, saying she thought that Never Say Never Again "has noticeably more humor and character than the Bond films usually provide
>Roger Ebert gave the film 3+1⁄2 out of four stars, and wrote that Never Say Never Again, while consisting of a basic "Bond plot", was different from other Bond films
>>
>>223737531
British?
>>
>>223738906
I mean, it was received favorably compared to the contemporary Moores because people were tired of him.
>>
>>223738821
Connery didn’t even bother getting into shape and was a chub in DAF. He actually got into shape for NSNA to play a retired Bond coming back in a Thunderball remake. I didn’t mind it. Same way I didn’t mind his old ass in The Rock
>>
>>223734322
A boring test drive that they had to get through before they could get to From Russia With Love and actually make a good movie
>>
>>223738611
there's no raisins in an Almond Joy, guy, opinion discarded

I started to go back and watch some of the old Bond movies recently because everybody said they were great. I don't know, not really seeing it.

So this is supposed to be some great intro right? He's wearing a tuxedo that looks like it came of the clearance rack at Men's Warehouse, and instead of playing like poker or an actual popular game, he's playing some fucking stupid game called Bacchanal that nobody has ever even heard of before and nobody fucking even knows the rules. The table is full of people but nobody else is even playing and they are speaking using some stupid game lingo that nobody is going to know. And he is supposed to be cool because he is carrying cigarettes ins some metal case? Like he took them all out of the pack by hand and put them in there to take them out later? Fucking kek! And they are making him deal the cards to what look fucking cool? Bro they hire somebody to do that, and he is sitting right next to Vagina Trench but I don't know what the Fuck he is doing. Come on Bond!

Yeah I was pretty much out after seeing this nonsense scene. i already had to some Jamaican Fucking version of the 3-blind mice song.
>>
>>223739846
>Bacchanal

Do y'all niggas even SWEEVEE BONKO
>>
>>223739846
Pack my ass. Cigarettes in a case like that are assumed to be hand rolled.
>>
>>223740133
Kek! How the fuck do you handroll a cigarette? What is even the point?
>>
>>223740190
So you know what's in it and can actually use quality tobacco?
>>
>>223737809
I agree. While watching Never Say Never Again I thought that one was pretty good too until I realized it was the same plot.
>>

Yeah it was all fine until Y2K hit.
>>

Peak ragebait right here.
>>
>>223741216
Even the one people hate the most, Diamonds Are Forever, is kino you have to nitpick to find a reason to rank it low.
>>
>>223737621
License To Kill is too low-stakes for a Bond movie, being set in Florida doesn't help either
>>
>>223741262
Old Vegas is cool
The Bond girl is smokin'
The gay hitmen are pretty neat
>>

It's the only Bond movie I've ever watched and I liked it, had no idea people disliked it
>>
>>223741665
Most people don't dislike it. Some just point out it's a bit underdeveloped compared to what came after. It's like a pilot in a way.
>>
>>223741339
Felix wife dies in the opening.
>low stakes
>>
>>223741339
The plot sucked but Timothy Dalton actually the was the actor that actually "got" Bond. He was closest to books Bond.
>>
>>223738821
i like the song for it
>>
>>223741871
What a shame we only got two movies from him
>>

pretty tame first movie, but they NAILED the Bond formula with the second movie From Russia With Love.

All the 60s and 70s movies just blend together for me. I've seen them all several times, but if you asked me which one Diamons Are Forever is, I couldn't tell you what it's about.
>>
>>223743053
It's the one where Bond is getting chased by two smuggling gay guys. Also Blofeld is played by the narrator of Rocky Horror Picture Shoe who also plays some random weeb Bond goes to talk to in Tokyo that then gets assaainated by Blofeld played by Donald Pleasence goons in You Only Live Twice. There's a movie in between YOLT and Diamonds where Bond is played by an Australian photo model and Blofeld is played by Kojak and Bond gets married and stuff.
The continuity over these three films in the series in particular is really whacky.
