Narnia Trailerhttps://x.com/DiscussingFilm/status/2110068149622350226I'm not even mad. Why didn't they just do an original IP?
>>223737863If you're not mad, why are you against them doing it?
>>223737893I don't understand the question.
>>223737907dude calm down
>>223737863Why didn't they just do it justice the first time????
>>223737907You say you're not mad, but you're complaining about them using the Narnia IP.
What did the talking lion mean by this?
>>223737925I don't need to be mad to disagree with them.
>>223737932I remember Christians seething over this when it came out.
>>223737925Narnia makes me mad. Specifically because it's the most ingenious series of stories written in modern times, and no one has been able to capture its magic in all the existing adaptations.
I hope they got rid of all that backwards, outdated christcuck stuff. It's just weird to put that in a children's book.
barely 10 seconds in and already it's fanfiction slop
>>223737980>directed by Greta Gerwig
>>223737863Garbage as expectedListen to the Focus On The Family audio versions if you want the real storyhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sRsUmnhZYUIhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6TAIgha1R-o
That garbage synth/rock in the background is making my ears bleed
It will all be worth it for my Tarkheena wife.
Why is Charn (a desolate dying planet) portrayed in such a seizure-inducingly kitsch manner?
>>223737863Stairway to Heaven in it is kino as fuck
>>223737932isn't he just saying he's god or jesus (christards believe it's the same person)?
>60s/70s boomer rockThis doesn't fit Narnia at all
>>223737957>>223737980>>223738233>t.
first they came for Tolkienthen they came for Lewisthen they came for... Charles Williams?
>>223737863This looks like capeshit. I don't care for Greta Gerwig but I at least thought she fancied herself enough of an auteur to not make something that's indistinguishable from your average MCU slop.
>>223739770btw I'm reading All Hallows Eve, it's good. I'm interested in his other works.
>>223737863>they turned Aslan into a woman>still looks like a male lionTranny shit, instant skip
>>223738012If Uncle Andrew is a decent dude then the point is missed by a mile. Lewis hammers home how awful and selfish he is putting his research above all else, sacrificing guinea pigs and children but never himself. Aslan even says at that the end that people like him are how Jadis's world Charn ends up destroyed through selfishness and how it can happen to our world. A not so subtle anti nuke message
>>223738205I hope that's only after she's revived, because reading about Charn in the book really gave me my first "liminal space" vibes before it was a thing, a truly dead place.
Grace thinks it's going to bomb https://youtu.be/X2-m8Mnt4kE
>>223737957not the movie but the book had a kid panicking because he liked Aslan more than Jesus, Lewis told him this
>>223737893These are marketing agents, silly
I was already expecting the worst since The Magician's Nephew was one of my favorite books as a kid and I wouldn't trust anyone to do it justice but this is just insulting.I wouldn't even mind a unique interpretation of the Woods but it's just slop all the way down. That hideous bloomed-out vaguely sci-fi MCU look, Jadis serving cunt in a Lady Gaga outfit, the entire rock opera gimmick.Just a crime against taste and tact.
>>223737863I like it but I hate how it's Narnia. Because it doesn't look at all like what Narnia should be. Even a spiritual successor/adaptation thing would have been better. It has the vibes of one of those 2000s kids movies, which I don't mind but it really should not be calling itself Narnia.
>>223740341>tfw Narnia will never be KINO again
>>223740192Same, brother. As a kid I could picture the ruins, the silence, the dead sun so vividly.I get that the "unspeakable word" was a metaphor for blaspheming the Holy Spirit but as a kid the very concept spooked the shit out of me.
>>223740341I always imagined the woods as a single straight long infinite path with dense impenetrable trees on either side so tall you can’t see any sky. More ominous than anything, and completely silent. No idea if that’s what’s in the book but that’s what is in my mind.
>>223740450Interesting interpretation, I haven't read the book in forever but I definitely agree with the silence part. In my imagination it was more peaceful than ominous, with the trees somewhat spaced out and occasionally giving way to clearings of tall grass and cattails where the ponds were.I grew up in the American south so it's probably completely different than what Lewis envisioned but it's a weirdly vivid imagination that's stuck with me.
>>223737863Why didn’t they spoil the coolest part of the story in the end of the TEASER trailer?
>>223738012The way they handled this Mr scientist is extremely mediocre and uninspired. Haven’t read the books only watched the Turkish delight Narnias, but they should have made this character way more interesting or edgy seeing as he’s some insane motherfuckrr. Here he’s just le wacky magic nigga.
>>223738205The background looks like the planet where iron man fought thanos in Avengers: Infinty War. The planet where thanos entire race of purple people die.
>>223739770Would they dare an Edgar rice burrows?
>>223740441>I get that the "unspeakable word" was a metaphor for blaspheming the Holy SpiritIt was a metaphor for NUKES you bozo
>>223740450Never make movies.
>>223740566Just to let you know that Aslan shows up! And then everyone will want to blow their brains out when they hear Meryl Streep's voice come out of Aslan's mouth.
WTF is that abominable background music
>>223740794100% they’re doing some weird shit where he speaks and both female and male voices come out at the same time. Like mewtwo in the dogshit pokemon movie
>>223740856If that's what they do then fine, whatever. But if Aslan is just Meryl Streep then fuck that I'm out.
>>223740796Nothing wrong with Led Zeppelin as a band but for The Magician's Nephew? Completely tone deaf.
>>223740450The illustrations I think depicted it best.
>>223741011That's more what I imagined when I read The Magician's Nephew. Everything in this adaptation is way too colorful. It should be drab, dull and mysterious.
>>223740206>people don't like the music of the 60sShe is fucking retarded, especially considering this guitar shredding is not even so much the 60s as it is the 70s and even 80s (hair metal). Jimi Hendrix was ahead of his time sure, but otherwise 60s music wasn't this way.
>>223740872Well they couldn’t just bring Liam Neeson back or he’d complain about the black bastards who snuck into Narnia.
>>223737863That green screen looks quite bad.
Greta married a Jew.
>>223737863>Hey! Gimme back my sock you goat bastard!
Can we please go back to matte paintings and practical setsI'm sick of this lazy CGI vomit made for theme park rides
>>223737863it looks entertaining and I will watch it on netflix when it comes out.Larping christian chuds on twitter hate it because they have projected their negative thoughts on it.Barbie was kino btw
>>223740732>Burroughs was an explicit supporter of eugenics and scientific racism in both his fiction and nonfiction; Tarzan was meant to reflect these concepts.maybe they already did. I was referring to other members of the Inklings though.>The move to Oxford did allow him to participate regularly in Lewis's literary society, the Inklings. In this setting Williams read (and improved) his final published novel, All Hallows' Eve. He heard J. R. R. Tolkien read aloud to the group some of his early drafts of The Lord of the Rings. In addition to meeting in Lewis's rooms at Oxford, they regularly met at The Eagle and Child pub in Oxford. During this time Williams gave lectures at Oxford on John Milton, William Wordsworth, and other authors. He received an honorary M.A. degree in 1943.[14][15]
>>223737863grifterbros we eatin good this week
>>223737863Is there a reason why it's 80s-inspired? Does The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe have anything to do with the 80s?
>>223737863feels like theyre going for a Labyrinth vibe
>>223738250narnia was written in the 50s
>>223740732there have been multiple Tarzan movies
>>223744567the first movie was set during world warand 80s music sounds old enoughI guess it checks out, at least for the director
>>223744567It's meant to be a deliberate contrast for the sake of emphasizing the fantastical or something like that. Like the kids live in an old timey brit world but then they find out magical realms and so you get artsy anachronisms.
>>223737863Hell of a lot of green screen in that trailer
>>223737863because they cannot create
>>223737893Why are they incapable of creating their own IPs?Why not revamp The Golden Compass, since it aligns with their beliefs? Why do they insist on perversion and corruption?
>>223738137YOU CANT RECOGNISE LED ZEPPELIN?!11
>>223740617Based on the illustrations, I would've gone with someone like Peter Capaldi.
>>223744204You almost had my attention but you posted the wrong Burroughs. A shame
>>223745513>anon cant recognize a band from 70 years ago>no shit, nobody under 40 knows who they arei think maybe beatles of the boomer music bands are kinda known, but not a single person knows a single song of theirs
CS Lewis is a softy pussy and his adult interest in Santa Claus is not charming no matter how he explains it
>>223745537Every man knows Stairway to Heaven, its widely considered the best guitar solo of all timeAlso Led Zeppelin are one of, if not the greatest bands of all time. You'd have to be living under a rock to not know them
Am I supposed to be mad about this? Looks fun and colourful, if they don't shit themselves in the writing department it'll be fine.
>>223745537And how old is your dad dude? What kind of a childhood do you have if your old man isnt playing you his favourite tunesAnd even if somehow you dad neglected you, all of your mates's dads would have and then relayed the brilliance of earth shattering bands like Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd to youBands that are literally better than sex. By a considerable margin
>>223746029It looks childish and Gen Z - chaotic and immature
>>223746052>childish>Childishness, in my adaptation of a children's book???What you call childishness looked to me like playing to the target audience.>Gen Z - chaotic and immatureI did not detect anything of the Barbie zaniness, seems to me Gerwig has possibly reined herself in.
>>223741057>Everything in this adaptation is way too colorful. It should be drab, dull and mysterious. It's funny how /tv/ routinely bangs on the "modern films are drab and colourless" drum, yet the moment something colourful makes it to the screen they don't like it>inb4 not one person bro!!!Anyway, I haven't read the book, so maybe your comment is appropriate, idk.
>>223745528yeah right
>>223746991How could you possibly mean this? The other author named Burroughs is my interest, thats the truth
>>223747100link his wiki page
>>223747122https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_S._BurroughsHow are you not willing to do the basic google to figure this out
>>223737863tranny film with daniel queer craig>here put this ring on your DICK
My only regret is that this garbage will bomb and we won't get to watch them squirm trying to adapt The Horse and His Boy
So how will they subvert the Jesus allegory lion?
>>223747229Hey he was playing my favorite author in that film
>>223747262They already told us how, Aslan is voiced by Meryl Streep. Jesus Christ is Aslan and Aslan is clearly a male lion yet will have a woman's voice.
>>223746216I don't agree that it should be drab or dull, but it should not look like seizure-inducing rainbow-colored vomit either. This shit looks like Thor Love and Thunder, and that's a bad thing.
>>223737863They did and they struck fucking gold with, Stranger Things and then somehow, let two retarded twins fuck it all up.
>>223737863the only stuff I know about narnia is that youtube video that explains the entire thing in like 30 min and its so bad after the wardrobe shit
>>223747507filtered. dawn treader is kino. so is silver chair.
mite b goodI wish Daniel Craig wasn't in it, I'm so tired of himWe can just have AI redub Aslan with a male voice, simple as
>>223737863This looks kind of cool.
Whose bright idea was it to change the setting from 1890s to 1950s lmao, that prospectively fucks literally everything up in Lion Witch Wardrobe
>>223745514Hell no
>>223745514I really don't want a quirk chungus like Matt Smith or Peter Capaldi to play Uncle Andrew. I think Peter O'Toole would have been good, shame he croaked.
