It was executives that fired him, and made them change the focus away from Aliens, because the executives had just seen Inception, and didn't think they should be making prequels and sequels to things and their output should be more original.2. It was going to be a trilogy as well.With the juggernaut crashed on LV-426 and the engineer dying of a chestburster like Alien. The reason he got angry when they woke him originally is he was in status to keep him from dying from the chestburster. Shaw and David would be alone on LV-426 and in the next film you'd find out that there are 2 factions of engineers. They were moving to a higher plane or another universe, and one faction wanted the humans dead, that's why they created the xenos (who would only kill humans if unleashed on earth) and one wanted them to be the stewards of the universe the engineers were leaving behind, and there would be a civil war between each on LV-426.So it'd be like Babylon 5

>>223740625The dumbest thing they did was connect it to Alien. Prometheus couod have worked fine as its own thing. Instead, connecting it to Alien ruined them both. Now Alien is fundamentally not alien whatsoever. It's just humanity's creators all along. They're not accidentally stumbling across something crazy dangerous in the mysterious vast darkness of space. Nah, they're just finding their creator and their cousins which were with them all along and they were destined to find one day or be destroyed by. Boring. And Prometheus being Alien is heavily constrained in all the worst ways. Now it has to be set on a shitty, boring rock planet with the ship crashed. Could have been on an interesting alien world with all sorts of crazy structures and ideas. A prequel to Alien was always a hilariously stupid idea. Which is why they decided to make lots of them.
