Holy crap, gooks should not be allowed to make movies

>nearly 3 hours long
>first 45 minutes is just one scaredy cop looking around corners for the monster
>when it finally appears the CGI is 2009 tier
>aliens have extremely generic resident evil designs
>chase sequences that last 20 fucking minutes
>aliens speak about fate and gibberish in the last 5 minutes
>nonsensical plot without any conclusion
>>
>>223756949
Good movie but I prefer Koream crime thriller slop
>>
>>223756949
so its just like forgotten island
>>

>Holy crap, gooks should not be allowed to make movies
They just shouldn't be making summer blockbuster garbage. Almost all of my favorite movies from the last decade are Korean
>>
>>223756949
You should not be allowed to post here, fucking brainlet.
>>
The only points I agree is that it went too long, the ending being abrupt and the CGI being shoddy which I'm accustomed to since I've been watching movies from the Orient from most of my life. It was okay. I enjoyed the sense of devastation in a small town and the tension. And the plot was easy. Aliens are fighting other aliens, they land on earth, alien prince gets killed by dipshit, aliens get angry, smash shit up, humans try to survive and discover the aliens.
>>
>>223756949
korean is an ugly language and they have absurdly weird politics

>Almost all of my favorite movies from the last decade are Korean
Apart from a few accidental hits like parasite, they stopped making good movies in the late 2000s.
>>
The best Korean movies are just ripoffs of American thrillers from 20 years ago.
>>
>>223757465
Or ripoffs of manga

I'm glad someone else noticed.
It's normally me saying this in these threads.

Memories of Murder ripped who? Wailing is unique. This is the director's 1sr Sci fi, he was defeated, so what.

Korean film has lost its sauce

>>223756972
>Good movie
There is no way anyone who saw this could reach this conclusion. I understand that Koreans, and maybe even Asians in general, might feel compelled to praise and defend such a movie as a sort of nationalistic knee jerk response to the criticism but c'mon, man. There are plenty of good and even great Korean movies, but this isn't one of them.

I mean yeah, Oldboy was literally a Japanese manga and it's probably the first movie people would think of when asked for a "Korean movie"

when native korean speakers sounds like africans and get confused about their runes you know something went horribly wrong
>>
>Korean slop
Let me guess all the men are incompetent and emotionally unstable and the women are competent and rational
>>
>>223757104
There's still no conclusion to any of it. Yes we know why the aliens are mad but so what? Are we supposed to care about them trying to revive this prince thing? Or this emperor's ship literally introduced in the last few seconds? If they spent less time on the action scenes (which are excessively long) and more on fleshing out these nvidia box art aliens, maybe it would mean something. The """ending""" feels like a sequel hook to something nobody would care about.

recommend some

Kino. Better action than anything Hollywood has made in years.

Although later on there's a more competent male hero that they killed off in a stupid manner for shock value

For me it's when they criticise American capitalism when their society is a lot worse when it comes to that

Why does /tv/ prefer Korean media to Japanese media now?
>>
>>223763235
as someone that grew up watching lots of east Asian movies, I found that the japanese stuff sort of lost its edge, korean movies have dipped also now, and of course both countries still make good movies it just seems less frequent. but korean tv, at least with action and thrillers have way better production than they used to and, possibly due to disney and netflix investing in alot of shows of those genres its also caused the legacy channels to imitate that. I can't really compare korean drama to japanese drama though, so I don't know how good they are or even what the goats are
>>
>>223760619
Nothing after 2009 is worth watching in that genre.
>>
>>223756949
Koreans are legendarily bad at sci fi.
>All monsters are overdesigned and nonsensical
>Resident Evil tier "THIS IS THE ULTIMATE EVOLUTION" cliched nonsense
>It's overly dramatic and one of the aliens/monsters is implied to be good
>Also the monsters/aliens were human once
Every fucking time.
>>
>>223763235
>tv is a hive mind
Some do, some don't.
I think some of their movies are great, better than the trash japan makes nowadays but that is it.
Japan is still 100 times better when it comes to games
>>
>>223756949
It's kino and Sung Ki perfectly captured the triumph of the indomitable human spirit. Total Alien Death.

>>
Yeah, the US never makes bad films
>>
>>223756949
It was hilarious how bad the film was. The fuck critics are smoking.
Just because it's a SK film it gets praised. If it was a western film it would of been mocked to oblivion.
>>
>>223756949
Their video games have awful plot too, way worse than westerners.
>>
>>223756949
>chase sequences that last 20 fucking minutes
Am I meant to think that's bad?
>>
>>223760619
Start with Man from Nowhere. The best one however is Sympathy for Mr Vengence. Koreans are a bit fucked in the head and all their crime thrillers are super dark.

Please someone tell me the name of this film,
An autistic cop everyone makes fun of is chosen to be the bank robber for a police demonstration. His autism is so strong he ends up ironically humiliating the police force and winning the girl over he takes as a hostage. Its a Korean film.
I saw it from /tv/ years ago and can never find it again

When she shows up why is the monster so far away? Even after shes blown its leg off and its been running for ages, it throws the sewer cover at her from a huge distance when it should be close to her.
>>
>>223758039
The most enjoyable moments were Hoyeon smiling and laughing
>>
>>223756949
Why does the alien have dreads?
Why does a scientist lady show up outta nowhere and start hacking it with a chainsaw while her assistant looks on and we're shown that it's (possibly?) still alive?
Why does an old man spend 10 minutes explaining the spicyness of his diarrhea and how he plugged it?
Why does a ship just fall into a mountain at the end?
What do they want, where are they from, why do have their children in a dark hole on their abandoned ship?
Who saw the script and said, "yep, here's a hundred million!"
>>
>>223756972
>I prefer Koream crime thriller slop
This. K "humor" in genre movies is fucking water torture tier. It's similar to kosher flatulence fetishism except it pines for universal appeal. Hope fuckin blows, those T2 comparisons got me.
>>
>>223757465
In fact The Departed was a shitty ripoff of Infernal Affairs which is a trilogy defeated only by Sergio Leone's Eastwood kino trio
