Can you guys help me find more slopkino sci-fi? What're your faves
>>223780033This shit reuses costumes and even clips from starship troopersQuite literally. it reuses costumes, helmets even weapons iirc and some of the "I am doing my part" clips from ST.
>>223780098Haha I'm watching it now and just noticed that
>>223780033
>>223780033Impostor was cheap in execution but the idea was nice. It was also quite faithful to the Dick's short story it was based on.First slopkino sci-fi that comes to mind is Screamers
>>223780098Who caresIt's a time slot filler on HBO or Showtime or however the fuck this got "theatrically" released
>>223780033Nemesis 1992
>>223780190Its very jarring when if you are like me and ST has been your fav movie for like 3 decades, you have watched it 100s of times and then watch this flick which is really trash and its using all the set, costumes and even clips from ST. It sticks out like a orange stick in grass.
>>223780169This is a good one. I've seen it before but I think it's in 4k now. I'll have to give it a rewatch.>>223780203This is new to me. I'll check it out thanks
>>223780249It's definitely low budget but I don't know if it's really trash. I think it's pretty good for what it is. The source material is solid, sinise and shaloub are decent actors
>>223780033Moon 44 (1990)
I Come in Peace aka Dark Angel, a 90's basic cable classic kids in my grade school were obsessed with.
>>223780304It is incredibly mediocre.Worth a watch I suppose but not memorable.
>>223780323Makes a great double bill with Rutger Hauer's Split Second.
Test
>>223780336>He's ...Now>seen the he has to>future... kill it.deep
Dark Drive
This flick
>>223780357You forgot the best part> He'll need bigger guns
>>223780365I was such a massive fan of the book as a kid, and so hyped when I heard they were making a movie, and so bummed when i saw it. its sort of like the ender's game movie where it just feels like a speed run of all the cliff's note plot points, but doesn't spend any time with the inbetween stuff that made it good.
>>223780323I've rewatched it recently. Great concept and many good moments, but I would have liked it to have a more budget and production effort pumped into it.Still liked it
>>223780323>>223780336These are new to me thanks>>223780365I loved sphere. Maybe I have shit taste but sometimes it's nice being easily entertained >>223780390New to me, I'll check it out thanks>>223780405I think I heard a fire wiped out most of the film and that's why the second half is so tonally jarring, they pieced together what was left. Still a decent horror scifi. I wish we got a sequel
>>223780365>>223780405Neither of these were particularly low budget, both star well known actors, and both got large theatrical releases. Aim lower, stuff that got very limited theatrical releases or none at all, straight to video or cable in the 90's is the sweet spot.
>>223780033Breddy gud movie I never see ANYONE talk about.Basically its a movie where Chris Walken an Nurse Ratchet invent the technology from strange days, where you can record memories and experiences and play them back. One guy nearly fries his brain when he loops someone nutting in a stripper.
What's better than the movie is the massive tiff Tom Sizemore and Val Kilmer (both dead now ;__; ) had between each other in production because Tom's gymset in his trailer was bigger than Val's so they had a bitch fight and their scenes had to be shot separately.
>>223780033>Any cult following it could have had after failing at the box office was completely wiped out by The Matrix
Saw this the other week. What the fuck did I just watch?
>>223780525A movie that had to be patched together by multiple directors over two-three years. It was written before Even Horizon with a very similar screenplay, only to have a trailer like...This:https://youtu.be/ZUdy0Cu3f_o?is=YBWfkeaMybt6LO0P
>>223780472Strange days was cool. Cyberpunk braindance movie sounds kino
>>223780506But it has a cult following. Me and my friends saw it in the theater by accident (we went into the wrong theater and decided to stay). Roger Ebert recorded a commentary track for the movie because he liked it so much.
>>223780590I wouldn't exactly call it cyberpunk, though it definitely has some elements that cyberpunk would put up. And it gets a little bit metaphysical. Kai Wynn has a heart attack alone in the lab at night and decides to record herself dying and Christopher Walken is desperate to 'watch' the recording in its entirety
>>22378046490s slopkino is the best. Stuff that was 4/10 back then is like 6/10 compared to todays background noise junk. Completely watchable. At least there was some originality to it.
>>223780483I haven't seen this in so long I completely forgot it existed and what it was about. Val and Trinity will have me rewatching thanks
>>223780472I've seen it. Agree on it being pretty good
>>223780685>Stuff that was 4/10 back then is like 6/10 compared to todays background noise junk. Completely watchable. At least there was some originality to it.Indeed, especially because it was almost all shot on actual film with actual lighting and cinematography intended for film, which means they all look better than 90% of the shit made nowadays.
>>223780718Yep
>>223780033The Time Guardian, an Australian Terminator knock-off "starring" Carrie Fisher and Dean Stockwell.
>>223780169If this came out today it would be an instant le masterpiece lol. We've been boiling frog'd.
>>223780731The fuck is this?Lol, I want it
>>223780742Yeah, I was shocked I never heard of it until a couple years ago, I would've eaten this shit up at the video store in the 90's.https://youtu.be/sCIifRGFwQE?is=zVbRolXQwO9p_WNL
>>223780769This was originally a Blade 3 spec script that got re-tooled into its own thing.
>>223780782the setting is really cool I wish it was a tv show
>>223780033Highlander II: The Quickening.Pure dumb but fun schlock, chokefull of incoherences and stupid stuff but damn, I love Connery and Ironside hamming it up.
>>223780703Don't forget Johnny Carpenter's attempt at Mars shit.
>>223780769Also, Predestination. I think the same dudes made this as well Shiv from Succession plays a time travellingf-t-m tranny
>>223780033How about C-Movie slop? This was made for like six grand (and most of that budget went to 16mm film stock iirc)
Freejack is some INCREDIBLE 90's cheese starring Emilio Estevez, Anthony Hopkins and Mick Jagger(!). Feels like a movie filmed in the late 80's, sat on the shelf for a few years, then was released after T2 and Total Recall, making an already outdated sci-fi movie look even moreso by comparison.https://youtu.be/qtTYFm0dk50?is=TuKzPRT7uyT-BRgv
>>223780882Freejack is great. I love it.On the other hand, a movie that I still like but is actuall dated is Runaway, with Tom Selleck
>>223780818I saw this one in theaters. I walked in as a kid so excited because I had just saw The Thing and was stoked for another Carpenter scifi. I remember it being the worst movie I ever saw and almost walked out. I'll have to give it a rewatch for the nostalgia tho. Thanks for the memories
ayylmao
>>223780857Confusing-Movie slop. I remember it being pretty good though, I'll rewatch and hopefully understand it better this time around.
>>223780882This looks cool and I haven't heard of it before
>>223781029Peak Natasha Henstridge tho
>>223781080You won't regret watching it
>>223780814Highlander 2 is at the top of my "Fuck you: I like it" list.
>>223781416What's in the 7th, 9th and 13th places?
>>223781445Problem Child 2Jackie ChanYour mother
