This is the Akuma fight. So many things were going on here. Ken and Ryu were both experiencing the same thing at the same time. Chun Li trying to wake up Ken so he can redeem his legacy while Akuma tries to awaken Ryu which allows him to redeem all the guilt from his inability to prevent Gouken's death.

I didn't like the characterization of Chun-Li
Chun-Li isn't the type of character to say "bitch", she's one of the most straight-laced characters in the cast. She'd never willingly mar herself with the symbol of the man who killed her father, not even to kill Bison: she wants to avenge her father but she's by the books, scarring herself and doing Bison's bidding (even pretending) is ooc. The strawman simp honestly had a point that Chun-Li was fucking losing it, taking her to their boss at Interpol felt justified. And then Chun-Li angrily beats up her boss and her support and goes rogue, and it's never called out.

I feel like a lot of things aren't called out that Chun-Li does: it may have been undercover but she is still working for Bison and was the one who recruited all these fighters and put them in danger. She convinces Ken and Ryu to come to the tournament and so she is, at least partially, responsible for their situation. She didn't know exactly what Bison had in mind for Ryu with the machine, but she is still part of the reason he and Ken are in danger and yet she's never taken off of the moral high-ground. There are bits with Bison hinting that she's started down a dark path but it's never fleshed out - maybe it will in the sequel (which is ballsy of them to end the movie on a cliffhanger as though a sequel were guaranteed) but any of Chun-Li's 'dark acts' aren't portrayed as being in the wrong.

I could not see this Chun-Li doing the 'YATTA' pose, she has no light to her. She's written like Gamora/Nebula in just being the no-fun perpetually angry female lead to tell the male leads they're not being honorable or righteous enough when she herself has issues. They might have her quitting Interpol/attacking her superiors have consequences and reflecting on what she is doing, realizing her father wouldn't want her to stop being a good person just to avenge him, but I doubt they will and she'll just be back with Interpol by the next movie (if there is one).

I saw the movie and loved it although I do agree it had highs and lows. I would correct a bit regarding the ending though because the movie doesn't relally have one, it kind of runs out of time and stops with the promise of having a sequel. It very much feels like "Street Fighter Part 1," moreso than Sonic the Hedgehog 1. Sonic the Hedgehog felt like a fully contained story arc although Street Fighter feels like there was a second climax building and there just wasn't time for it, so they're saving it for Part 2, if we get it.

Cammy was kind of side lined and not in the movie much, which is disappointing, but hey, she actually was in a thong, I pretty much give the entire movie a pass because they actually had her outfit.

But every scene felt like it needed more room to breath, I found myself kind of confused in the moment even if I basically understood what was happening.

It's crazy to not end the movie with a showdown with Bison, Akuma didn't need to be there, I hope we at least get a sequel because that is some bullshit otherwise.

The production was good. The problem with the movie was that the plot sucked and the fight scenes were terrible. MK 2 blew this out of the water in terms of action scenes.
The new MK movies actually had fights that felt like adaptations of the game, in the best way possible. Best of 3 fights that even had moments that took place over a 2D plane so it looked like something right out of the game, and yet it hardly felt forced. This was just generic hollywood action with an occasional attack referencing the game. I think we saw one actual fight resembling the game: a single round of Ken vs Balrgog, and it was just ken getting punched the entire time until he wins with a single shoryuken.
Ryu's hadouken is treated like some ultimate attack that he doesn't unleash until the last 10 minutes of the movie. This is basically the same shit Dragon Ball evolution did and everybody hated it. Did they not think people would want to see anything resembling the fights from the games? MK blew this out of the water even if the production for this was much better.

If only the fights were better, this could have been redeemed. Even if they just copied the MK movie format this woulda been 10x better
