>>223806522It should have been a slam dunk, quite honestly. It was Sam Raimi's return to Marvel, the first time in the MCU and finally getting to make his Dr. Strange movie. However, it really showed Raimi as being out of touch. Really jarring horror and editing that would have been better fit in a low budget campy flick. Marvel cameos that were meant to test the waters and audience reception to things like Captain Carter (Who was heavily pushed in the What Ifs animated show for some reason), Fantastic Four, and the X-Men. Heavy on the visuals but somehow even more meaningless than those in the first Doctor Strange. Wanda really wasn't a compelling villain because her motives fall flat under the slightest scrutiny. And although we get some character development with Strange about always wanting to be in control, learning to let go, and actually put his faith in others it all gets completely lost in the awful pace of the movie. It was just really mediocre and felt like a test reel for the multiverse. Essentially a misfire
>>223809155Also one of the biggest problems is Raimi (in his own words) did not do any research on the storyline and didn't even bother reading a synapsis of wandavision.
>>223806522The big problem is Wanda becomes a psychopath offscreen. Wandavision hardly sets it up. If you watched Wandavision's ending you'd think something totally different was being set up, no they just wanted Wanda to be evil in this movie. It just sucks because Wanda is likable and hot too, but they just assassinate her character and put her in this irredeemable spot for an ultimately mediocre movie. Zombie Strange was cool but this movie wasn't worth it.
>>223806522Turned it off when I saw the faggot flag on the young spic.
>>223806522Because the writing is flat-out dogshit.>Smartest man in the multiverse tells his foe how his ally’s power works>It’s not even the way it works in the comicsBlack Bolt doesn’t even have to open his mouth to use his power in the comics. He can literally just hum to activate it. It’s not like it’s created by air pressure.

Corporate slop designed to push new characters and completely side step it's central character.
>>223809317OH N-
>>223806522Wanda being the villain out of nowhere. I would have preferred a setup with Strange and Wanda teaming up at the start, and as the movie goes on, you see the corruption in Wanda, being tempted to become a villain, and then they fight in the finale. Also, Chavez sucked ass, and I hated her and her woke bullshit onscreen. The whole Illuminati was very wasted. The writing and dialogue were terrible. The Raimi-isms were hit and miss. He kind of half-assed it, instead of going all out. They wasted his potential.

>>223806069Wanda will get the Hulk treatment, she so OP now they have to keep her out of the picture untill they can nerf her like hulk.
>>223806522I think the biggest issue is it doesn't know whose movie it is.You got American, a character that Strange wants to protect cause she has magic powers. Her powers are seen as so strong one version of Strange even thinks to kill her. You have Wanda, who is incredibly powerful and the limits of her powers are not well defined. She can send monsters and things across the multiverse? But not actually physically go? It seems like an arbitrary limit to circle back to Mac Guffin character America. Then you have Dr.Strange who is supposed to be the main character. They clearly don't know what to do with him. 14m timelines and they try to side step how far he may have looked to the future. He is seen as a threat to the multiverse from others. In no way circling back to him allowing Thanos to kill half of all life. Instead he's a threat cause of a different Dr.Strange. Then he's also in love with Christine too. He has a terrible arc and is essentially lore dumped. And he elects to protect America and fight Wanda. It just comes together so poorly for all the characters.
>>223807889Filtered. If Wanda absorbed America's multiverse-jumping capabilities, she could or would cause incursion after incursion resulting in the deaths of trillions.
>>223807889>>223814650This really, the stakes are almost too big. My only real complaint is as others have pointed out, she's just randomly batshit insane to start the movie off and they showed all of that character development offscreen.
>>223809155>>223809291Doctor Strange should've gotten Tobey's Spider-Man to help him, and then revealed that Bruce Campbell's Mysterio was reformed and became that universe's Doctor Strange. Bruce Campbell then should've cameoed as Ash. If Marvel's CGI wasn't done in a sweatshop in Malaysia, it could've looked way better. Also, the plot could've had Mephisto as the villain, with Strange and Spidey working to convince Wanda to not fall for his trickery. She realizes she's done abominable things while being led astray, and Doctor Strange erases her memories of everything. Doctor Doom could then show Wanda her sons, in order to get the Darkhold from her for Doomsday.

>>223804315>cum...
>>223809294They regard Wanda as expendable and not a major character.Wanda is their most popular female character, but as we see they are pushing Carol and now Pugh, while tossing Wanda aside.
>>223806069There's some rumours swirling around that Olsen is being replaced by another actress.Olsen is unlikely to even be in Doomsday, and in Secret Wars, her role will likely be pretty small.A solo movie with her fighting Chthon would be cool but is increasingly unlikely.
They royally fucked Wanda with this movie at a time when the MCU really needed a new female lead to replace Natasha and it was very obvious that Captain Marvel wasn't working out. Wanda had been popular pretty much from the get-go but because there was one comic where she went evil once well clearly the MCU just also had to do that (even though everyone absolutely hates that arc in the comics) and now look the only worthwhile female character in the entire MCU is Yelena (which, don't get me wrong, I love Yelena, but Heaven forbid we have two leading ladies). Also, it's called "Multiverse of Madness" but we spend most of the movie in one universe and then briefly go to another universe before returning to the main universe. We're promised a road trip through the multiverse and we just take a brief side trip through one.The Illuminati turns out to be a fucking joke when they really shouldn't have been. Aside from Reed and Xavier, the other character choices are fucking lame (people barely even care about Carol, why was Maria-as-Carol a fucking Illuminati member?), and the Illuminati barely even serves a purpose in the film anyway. The Illuminati should've been, not the villains, but an antagonistic force. This was right after No Way Home, right? The Illuminati should've been after Strange to arrest him for fucking with the multiverse and now his universe's Spider-Man is suffering unnecessarily because of Strange's actions, which could cause some serious trouble down the line. They would kind of be acting like the TVA, but without the "pruning timelines" aspect, more like a team of Avengers that are just trying to make sure the various multiverses run smoothly. So Strange, Wanda (who isn't fucking evil in a proper version of this movie), and America have to avoid the Illuminati while also protecting America from [actual villain].
>>223815564Maybe have Strange and co. picking up allies as they travel through the multiverse until they have a sort of Multiversal Avengers. Whether this replaces the "antagonistic Illuminati" I discussed above or features alongside it, I dunno, but you can fit even more multiverse fan service appearances with it (THIS is where you fit in Captain Carter, not as an Illuminati member), plus maybe actually have Bruce Campbell as "copyright friendly Ash Williams," or maybe just actually Ash, if there's a loophole they can use via Marvel Zombies vs. the Evil Dead. But yeah. It needed to not fuck over Wanda as a character and it needed to actually properly use both the multiverse and the Illuminati as concepts. Also, whoever wrote "Illumi-what-y?" needs to be shot in both knee caps. The concept of an Illuminati is something even most normal, every day people are aware of; Someone as intelligent as Stephen fucking Strange would never say this shit.
