I can see her train her even though the girl is powerless and then eventually either pass down the power and become the watcher or simply dying and restoring the lineage or something like that. Because of this the new lead is better off as being it´s own character rather than Buffy. As a new character it would have a chance, as a Buffy attempt she would never measure up. Another option would be just making a Giles prequel set in the 70´s when he was this Constantine like rebel known as Reaper but they´d never make that show.
