Some people prefer the book-ending where Alex sees the error of his ways, but I thought it was a stupid ending. Alex has his epiphany when he meets one of his old droogs and sees he's now a respectable middle-class man with a family and a sensible business job. This serves a thematic purpose, but it doesn't make much sense. How the fuck would one of Alex's old droogs get a job like that? And how could Alex imagine such a life for himself, as a notorious criminal? It's not that easy to put it all behind you.
