Caught a screening at Brooklyn Horror Fest. Some of the kills are decent for a VERY low budget slasher film (the director said giallo films were a big influence, and it shows), but the plot is completely nonsensical and the characters' reactions are in no way believable. Can't seem to decide whether it wants to be horror or comedy, and ends up being a campy Cabin in the Woods knock-off. I'm also not against trans protagonists (the main character is cute and passes), but she felt like a trans caricature to me. The Jewish actress who plays the MC's best friend was there to answer some questions, and while she seems like a nice person, her acting in this is very wooden. The twist ending also comes across as being in incredibly poor taste as it's revealed that the killer is the MC's mom, who blames murdering multiple kids on her having postpartum depression. Given recent events I was shocked that this element was included. On the upside, one of the kills referenced Deep Blue Sea. But overall I would not recommend this except for die-hard horror fans.
>>223821899>ends up being a campy Cabin in the Woods knock-off.That's like saying "a low quality Taco Bell knockoff"
>>223821945Which gives you an idea of how bad this film is
This actress notably seems to only pick bad projects. The Hermit was also terrible, although that wasn’t her fault.
>>223821945Joss Whedon is - for all his faults - a good writer
>>223822296And cancelled unfairly
>>223822079Her witch show will be renewed so she’s doing ok
>>223821963That and the fact that they kill a trans character in the first ten minutes
I would not have guessed this person was trans
