An acquaintance of mine has a kid about 12 years old - complete non verbal, wears a diaper, throws shit (and his own literal shit), punches himself, etc. They have tried literally every magical austism cure - flew him down to Antigua to get stemcells injected into his brainstem, putting "Miracle Mineral Supplement" (chlorine dioxide) into his drinking bottles and asking the daycare he attended to administer that daily (which got CPS called on them), and just only recently have come to terms that the boy isn't curable. The burden that he will be on them until they die and the rest of his siblings is staggering.
