Now the the hype has died down and shills have moved to Digger and the Nathan movie can we have a real discussion about Obsession
>>223839079yeah. it's not very good.
theres nothing to discuss. the film was specifically engineered for twitter ragebait, no deeper conversations can be had about it
>>223839079I have never watched anything about this movie but it really makes me laugh how much people shilled for itReddit normoids were lusting after this woman like she was a sex symbol While their hole counterparts paraded her as a champion of hole empowerment I still remember when they did an interview of the actress and after so many holes saw how much the normie men liked her they were raging at her calling her a traitor or a pickme
>>223839149>twitterthen why were there a dozen threads a day on 4chan about it
>>223839149No it wasn’t. You idiots act like this some big studio think tank movie. It had zero studio involvement at all when it was shot. Why it only had a budget of 750k.
I liked it a lot for what it was. A entertaining horror movie. More impressive how it was done with almost no budget. The online bullshit from man hating bitches and seething incels is ridiculous but whatever

>>223839099Fpbp
>>223839186they had two years after it was shot to plan the marketing campaign. it costs very little to test-screen a film so they knew they had a potential hit.
>>223839257Marketing campaign? For a 750k move? It has repotted marketing budget of 10million which is jackshit for marketing. Supergirl had 120 million marketing budget
>>223839214>The online bullshit from man hating bitches and seething incels is ridiculous but whateverthat was clearly some coordinated campaign
I watched it the other day, I thought it was good. Manages an unsettling and bleak atmosphere without being over the top.
I thought it was a very well put together, thought provoking film. It had my noggin joggin more than any $250 million slopbuster made recently. It sat with me for much longer than anything else I've watched recently. I give it a 9/10.
The real villains were the people making and selling the One Wish Willow. They make a supernatural pact to grant everyone in the world one wish, and they sell it as a novelty item to people who wouldn't ever think that it actually worked? What kind of demonic cabal are these assholes part of?
>>223839079boring overrated slopif i was a teen watching it i guess id like it
>>223839079>Now the the hype has died downI'm unironically surprised that Inde hasn't been invited to do the Criterion Closet. Seems like something she'd be down to do.

>zoomers lost their minds over a "be careful what you wish for you just might get it" movie which has been done in every piece of media numerous times
>>223839588Every plot has been done many times before. It’s the characters and how you make it your own which this movie obviously did
>>223839689>Every plot has been done many times before.I agree, but you can enjoy repeated plots, but losing your mind over it like zoomers did is fucking retarded.
>>223839369Not quite, though I'm sure marketing took advantage of it. The way things are now, this kind of movie is a Rorschach test and it's bound to get people yapping.
>>223839588It's not WHAT you're doing, it's HOW you're doing it.
>>223839954>It's not WHAT you're doing, it's HOW you're doing it.That makes the movie even worse, because >guy wishes girl loves him, she loves him too much, and for some reason cooks his cat>other guy wishes for money and he gets it without consequences from getting it
>>223839965Even the best movies in the world have plotholes if you look hard enough
>>223839079It used to common to call out a script needed more drafts until it's good enough to shoot. The attempt to capture a zoomer dating CULTURE here is fine, but some "man on man" dialog went on too long and self-conscious theater kid. Her acting is the attraction.
>>223840072>Even the best movies in the world have plotholes if you look hard enoughWhat are these best movies that have major plotholes like this?
>>223839910Movie had no marketing. 10 million is nothing for marketing today. Nobody expected it to take off like it did. At best Universal likely hoping for 60-70million total which would’ve been a great return. Not 500 million and counting

>>223840480>he thinks studios would waste their time and money shilling to a glorified 2026 twitter/X repost forum, with the collective buying power of $100 because only normies don't pirateAll our shills do it for free, which makes them fans instead of shills.
>>223840536>the only retort shills have is the repeated line of "dude ad hominems, why would anyone care about 4chan schizo get a life"
>>223839446if the protag was an actual psychopathic incel who abuses her and makes her do retarded shit after he jizzes in her for fun, and then in the end tells her to kill herself instead of killing himself to break the spell then it would have been a much better movie
astroturfed on incel hate
>>223840449he was naive about how dating works. He thinks if you check all the boxes then a woman should want to date you and those who don't are just confused. So in his mind he thinks he did nothing wrong
>>223839079yeah it was mid. i didnt regret watching it but wouldnt do so again
>>223840590>he says as he ad hominems me in turnDon't mistake me for a shill, when I say "our" shills I mean "shills" on 4chan. I agree there is some culture war/outrage shilling for this movie on /tv/ but it's done (for free) by discord raiders, trolls, ragebaiters, and autistic fans. Financially yes, I don't think anyone would care about marketing to 4chan in 2026 unless they made a very particular kind of movie. And even then they might get better traction on X.
>>223840256Noooo! She’s doing the Oretega eyebrow thing
>>223840449Bear is confirmed a sociopath from like the 3rd scene. He doesn't give a shit about his cat dying and instead cries over Nikki not loving him.
>>223840480>I don’t like this movie that was a huge success so that means there must be some big shilling conspiracy operation going onkys
>>223839079I've seen it 4x. I finally showed it to my mom, she told me last minute "I'm not in the mood for horror," so I said okay and played it anyway. I decided against tripling down by showing her Hereditary and prefacing it was an award winning drama about motherhood. By the end my mom was the happiest I had seen her after a movie since she took me to see Mona Lisa Smile. She then told me she went to some church shit and every woman there young and old quietly joined to tell her their favorite scenes. And they were all imitating Nikki. That's why I showed it to her because I heard women love it, but doubted my mom would. Something about the simplicity of the movie really connects, I was also impressed my mom and her friends all noticed how Nikki copied that fat bitch's tattoos and theorized she was marking territory like his cat, things I didn't notice until threads. I guess she and her church friends are going see Anything But Ghosts together. This director has a white Madea following it seems. >>223839149I asked about this, older women seem to think that's retarded. My mom none of them thought Bear raped Nikki, that Nikki was just Fatal Attraction crazy. First time I ever joked about rape with her but Cornell was on TV and I think they're aware of the spoiled whore dilemma.
>>223840256Wow. Elvira should adopt her and do a big 'ween speshWho's excited for her SNL debut Oct 31?
>>223840937It’s always crazy to me hearing Americans talk about what they’re exposed to in their media bubble. Nothing but brainrot slop. They’re always going on about the great happening of Cletus getting raped at a football game or Bubba Joe making a new twitter post. What a dumbass world.
>>223839149The OST alone is worthy of discussionIf obsession didn’t blow up like it did this board would love it
