Is Hollywood better off now that we have actors who grew up in the business under their parents' tutelage?
>>
>now
It's like that since.. forever

Most boomer actor have family in the business
>>
>>223890064
There is no such thing as nepotism.
To not give your offspring advantages in life is pathological. Only white boomers think like this.
For every other race “nepotism” is just called “being normal”
>>
>>223890037
whats it like being like 25 with an 80 year old dad made from HGH?
>>
Hollywood is an entire industry built on nepotism, all these millennial and zoomer fags are only just now learning. The heads of the big 4 were literally related to each other and every one of the top echelon actors.
>>
>>223890037
So she works for him now
>>
>>223890136
Yeah most of Hollywoods early starts had parents who were big Vaudeville actors.
In the end acting is a profession and like most professions you have a big leg up when one of your parents is already established simply because a random person with no ties to the profession will not know where to start.
What are the odds that some kid who loves acting in their high school play in their Minnesota suburb actually develops the acting skills to make it in Hollywood?
A nepo baby is going to have grown up on and around film studios. They’re going to know what is expected of them just from watching mom or dad on set and they’ll have access to the right acting schools, know how to audition, know where to audition, find the best photographer for their headshots, etc.
It would be different if there were rigorous acting academies all over the country where the best natural talent could develop.
>>
>>223890241
It’s also an industry that’s located in only one place in the entire country. Simply being born a Los Angeles native gives you a huge advantage over wannabe actors who have to move there as an adult.
>>
>>223890037
Paramount shows are nothing but boomer glowie propaganda meant to glorify the status quo
>>
>>223890102
People don't want to admit this because it means the white people will eventually go fuck it we should do it too
>>

>thinks boomers are the ones complaining
>>
>>223890241
I always remember Josh Brolin (a nepo baby) talking about recording his Llewelyn Moss audition tape and having Robert Rodriguez direct him and Quentin Tarantino lighting it as the perfect example of this. I'm certain all those other actors had a fair shake sending tapes to the Coens and really trying to make a career happen. Whole industry is a sham
>>
>>223890241
>It would be different if there were rigorous acting academies all over the country where the best natural talent could develop.
But there are.
>>
>>223890291
Being born in LA naturally makes a person an actor?
>>
>>223890605
Leo DiCaprio doesn’t have famous parents, but he is the son of artsy hippie types who moved out there before he was born. Being born in L.A. made it infinitely easier for him to get a commercial agent to get him started. A similarly attractive young kid born in Wisconsin wouldn’t have that advantage.
>>
>>223890102
Your elementary education shows
>>
>>223890037
rare good boomer
>>
>>223890468
You attribute this to nepotism but in reality he happened to be shooting Grindhouse at the time. I seriously doubt anybody in the mid 2000s cared who his father was, Brolin was pretty much a washed out has-been
>>
>>223890102
>There is no such thing as nepotism.

Yeah, we all know the privileged follow different rules.
>>
>>223890037
Love his honesty and I would do the same(except if my kid was really bad at acting)

I don't have a problem with nepobabies. What's the point of having success if you can't give that to your children? From the child's point of view it makes sense to take it. Are they supposed to change their name, go homeless, and try to work their way up the top?
>>
Being a parent inherently causes nepotism, the kid is inheriting the parents' genetics, wisdom and standard of living, which often leads to an advantage in life and a profession

>>
>>223890102
but have you considered the cost?
>>
>>223890102
It's one thing to have this way when you yourself "made it" on your own from nothing, but I think just as many forget or downplay what they received from their parents/grandparents. Like selling off inherited heritage land for huge profit, or getting a job in some field when your parents conveniently had a job in the same field, but then insisting that your own kids need to make it on their own.
>>
>>223890636
Also, if you’re a parent with a kid who expresses interest in working on movies in any capacity, that goal is a whole lot more realistic if you live in California.
>>
>>223890102
Are you fucking retarded?
Nepotism exists so long as organized society exists
>JOB THAT WILL AFFECT MANY PEOPLE
>A) CANDIDATE THAT IS SUITED FOR THE JOB, AND WILL HAVE A POSITIVE EFFECT ON PUBLIC TRUST
>B) CANDIDATE HAS YOUR GENES

It's so simple. How can you not grasp this?
I think the main problem in society is too many philistine get exposed to and too many idiots get exposed to science.

This is why the quality of both things has been decreasing.
>>
>>223890102
I tend to agree with you, I think it doesn't really become nepotism until they start landing random talentless friends and relatives big roles.
>>
>>223890037
Sly's daughter a qt, mom must be hot
>>
>>223890037
Yes, she's hot.
However she also gets blacked in the show.
The devilburg's deal.
>>
>>223890037

I suppose "nepotism" is fine in the entertainment business, at least for actors. But nepotism fucking sucks when it comes to politics and the education system.
>>
Kids of actors and actresses going into the business isn't nepotism you gunk-head fucking retards.
Just handing your kid a job so nobody else even had a chance to take it on their merits is nepotism, and so is using your influence and favors to get other people to secure employment that would otherwise be competitive.
Jesus christ I hope a virus comes along that just kills fat autists
>>
nah FUCK off you fucking KIKE. pay attention to large families (5+, hell even 3+), the offspring often have VASTLY different innate interests and abilities. this notion of 'having acting (((genetics)))' being passed on to you by your kike actor parent is complete bullshit. that being said, from a parenting standpoint is giving your kids an advantage because you can a bad thing? not necessarily. answering op's question directly? passing up qualified candidates to give an opportunity to a relative who 'might' be 'sort of' better at the profession due to sheer immersion? its absolutely a bad thing and a DIRECT, possibly even the main, reason why modern hollywood is such shit now. this is literally the reason why society broadly is devolving into neo feudalism. weak offspring cant take risks and exert their own self determination.
>>

Yeah, but at least you don't have to watch their movies.

Saw some videos on Instagram about homeless people in California and the Demoncrat politicians who are the reasons for the high taxes in California are also telling people that they will use the tax money to end homelessness. Except the Demoncrats take people's tax money and pocket it themselves. Money meant to end homelessness is instead spent on expensive trips to Maui, or on expensive luxury apartments and other shit.

The U.S. is fucked if Governor Newsom from California becomes president.

Nepotism is real and isn't a problem in and of itself.
The problem with it is when your offspring isn't cut out for the job that you're foisting on them, either because of poor discipline or poor ethics, because being unqualified becomes a problem for everyone else.

It is only nepotism if the person isn't qualified and unable to do it.
If you actually got trained from birth for a certain field and are very good at it, you are just the best candidate.

Nepotism is when someone gets their family into a job with no experience or knowledge about the job they are getting into and basically they do nothing but fuck shit up.
It by definition isn't nepotism if they are actually suitable for the job.

I'll give them a pat on the back, but no one wants that. Easy money is what everyone wants. And everyone is dumb who just blindly allows them a perky resume based on their heredity.

But you can tell those parading "meritocracy" are just projecting it. They don't truly believe that because otherwise, some people of color would have a job over others.

It's rich that you would believe their parents would allow them to be homeless; they, unless they're sociopaths, want to be "good" parents.

It is what it is. No more, no less. You either watch what they make or you don´t and if we are to be absolutely honest it changes very little for contemporary Hollywood because it´s problem is not related to skill or creativity or anything like that. It´s all about the current business model. The age of stylish authors, individual writers and memorable stars died with rentals. These days the business is all about market research teams making or identifying trends on social media and then picking a big ass recognizable IP that can capitalize on it to make bank at the box office. Something the herd can consume, discuss online and then forget. That´s the depth of contemporary culture so having a good actor or a bad actor doesn´t really make that much of a difference anymore. Skill and talent won´t elevate capeshit turds and make it Hamlet.

Movies are not being made aiming to transcendence like they used to, they are not made to last. They are made for instant gratification and in fact people barely discuss movies anymore. The whole discussion on the latest "big epics" revolved around how much money they made for the suits at the box office or around social issues. And don´t even get me started on how directors like Nolan and Villeneuve completely lack any notion of literary romance and have systematically exchanged the poetic mysticism and grandiosity of cinematic storytelling that recognized its narrative nature for the logic of grounded and mundane realism. So yeah, Sly getting his girl a job or Ethan Hawke getting Maya in really don´t make a difference. It´s all about money now anyways.

If you're great and their child is mediocre, you're still going to lose as long as the parent is spectacular.

>To not give your offspring advantages in life is pathological
Part and parcel of that is giving them the necessary skills and upbringing such that they also have genuine merit at the career you've given to them
Hollywood nepotism isn't that because rich coastal cunts have zero life experience that would lead to believable acting
>>
turns out, there actually are no rules and there are no laws and there isn't even social pressure. everyone just does whatever they want and their success is dependent solely on their ability to avoid accountability while also holding others to their own standards.

laws don't matter. enforcement matters.

It's funny seeing people acting like nepotism in the media is only just now a major problem when it has ALWAYS been extremely prevalent

wrong. its a (deserved) proxy attack on kikes since they are incredibly unpopular right now and their decades (centuries?) of kikery is coming back to bite them. stallone just happens to be incredibly insulated. that's fine though, hollywood is still hemorrhaging money out the ass. it's only a matter of time before actors and musicians go back to being jesters for those with REAL power.
>>
Why should I care who becomes an actor?
>>
While I disagree with the principle of nepotism, pretty much every form of inheritance in any country ever is a form of nepotism so it's pretty much too widespread to stop at this point.
Personally I believe all of one's property and wealth should be returned to the state on death. No man or woman alive should be born a billionaire.

Most of society's ills come from nepotism. Imagine if there was a 100% income tax. There would be no dynastic wealth. Billionaire families would have no choice but to either plow their money into the economy or the state. People would have to learn to make their own fortune instead of living off mommy and daddy
>idgaf family comes first
Then don't complain when society goes to shit because of massive wealth inequality.

We’re talking about Hollywood so it really doesn’t matter. It’s not like the pilot or surgeon your life depends on only got his job because of his dad.

But Stallone is right, of course you’re going to do everything you can to help your kids. In their case, they live in Hollywood and that’s the only world they know and naturally it’s a dream of many to be a rich and famous actor. So they get a shortcut and leg up on the competition because their parents pull the strings and have sway.

I’m going to do everything I can so my kids have advantages. They go to a private school because our public education system sucks and I put them in a lot of sports and other activities for their social and physical development. When they were in public school most parents didn’t do homework with their kids and didn’t care about education. I’m educated and have a bit of money so what should I do instead, hold my kids back so they can be with the ilk? Sabotage them under the guise of “equity”?

I don’t blame the parents or the nepobabies at all. The only issue is if the quality of the field they’re in declines because the bar is too low and the good people are kept out because of gatekeeping. But again it’s acting, where someone can win an Oscar for their first role when they’re a teenager kek

Caring for your offspring is the most mammalian trait around. You’re wanting the state to wipe out all generational wealth so everyone has to start fresh. Pathetic. It’s against nature.

Stallone nepotism is literally a joke in Hollywood
>>
Noooooooooo. You can't just inherit your father's farm and become a farmer. That's neeepootiiismmm. It's unfair! It's outrageous!!!
>>
>>223890037
It's natural and correct for these parents to have a nepotistic bias toward their children.

But it's also natural and correct to never plainly admit it in public.

He thinks he's being "real" here, but he's being a fuckin idiot.

>Most of society's ills come from nepotism.
This exists in every strata of society. Some construction subcontractor who runs a plumbing business is going to give more jobs to his newly trained son than some random guy, even if the latter is more skilled.

We look out for our own. This is always the case. (*especially* among all the foreigners whom you mistakenly think support your libshit politics -- they're all tribal.)

I really don't have a problem with it as long as their kids are actually talented.

Most of the time we end up getting retards who can't act like Jaden Smith and Zoe Kravitz and Johnny Depp's daughter or Milia Jovovich's daughter but still get cast in everything because their parents are famous and influential.

Rarely if ever we get actual talents like Michael Douglas and Nicholas Cage who clearly benefited from nepotism but you wouldn't know it.
>>
>>223890037
They're discriminated against and can't get real jobs so they are forced into show business. It's really sad actually. It's not nepotism.
