Is it generally agree that only the first 10 seasons of The Simpsons are worth watching?
>>
I really do not like any of the episodes made after the 1990s. But then I generally don't like most things made after the 1990s.
>>
>>223910859
Nah, you can go a little later and still pick up some good episodes.
>>
>>223910859
First 8, trust me
Once it gets "Homer dumb, bart zany lmao" it's unironically over, becomes a one dimensional slapstick oblivion from which it never returns

full entire seasons or just select episodes?
>>
>>223910859
>>223911740
Also season 9 starts demolishing the Simpsons canon - Skinner isn't Skinner, Apu becomes too much of a main character, Lisa becomes a fedora atheist neckbeard, Marge becomes le independent womyn cringe, on and on - the storylines just become more and more outlandish and less actually funny/clever
>>
It's watchable until season 12, I say this as a long time fan
>>
>>223910859
Seasons 3 to 8
>>
I want marge to shit in my mouth.
>>
>>223910859
13 is where I stop.
I dont watch season 1 either.
>>
>>223910859

Homer to the Max in season 10 is the last golden age EP. But I would say silver age lasts until around season 13 or 14. (Snowed in episode with Skinner is classic and is season 12) But after that it's a black hole of shit

Tho unpopular opinion but I think Season 20 is shockingly decent
>>
>>223910859
The Simpsons died with Phil Hartman
>>
>>223911990
I get not liking the sorta janky first season but if you don't like 2 then you're retarded.
>>
>>223910859
10? Only seasons 2-5 are good. 1 is ok, 6-7 are decent, 8 is tolerable, and everything else is shite.
>>
>>223910859
I'll watch roughly to about when the movie came out and stop there. Yes there was definitely a lot of cringe in seasons 10-18 or whatever, but there's still some good laughs to be had and the celebrity guests of the week wasn't as bad yet. But yes seasons 3-9 are the undisputed peak.
>>
>>223910859

i've always maintained that it started going downhill in season 8, even though there are still some good episodes that season. you could see the cracks appearing. 9 and 10 were shit.
>>
>>223912926
The kitchen
>>
>>223910859
Seasons 9 and 10 are not good. 8 is the last full season worth watching. 3-6 is peak.
>>
>>223910859
Simpsons starts going downhill around season 8. You could probably push it to season 11 if you want some more. I wouldn't go past season 13.
>>
>>223910859
I'll admit this is coming from a 00s kid but I do think that the show was watchable enough through that decade despite being clearly past its prime and declining year after year. The movie was genuinely good too. The point where it finally, undeniably turned to shit is when they went HD and introduced that cringe as fuck new opening.
>>
>>223912167
>Homer to the Max in season 10 is the last golden age EP.
That's clearly way past the golden age. People just remember the funny start and completely forget the whole retarded and unfunny third act.
>>
>>223910859
"Early simps were le better" is the Reddit take
Shitsons were NEVER good or funny, unlike say South Park.
>>
Season 12 is the last one that I like overall but S13 still has good episodes.

Over the last six months I've watched seasons 18 to 34 and there are still good episodes scattered.

this. it's the first 8 and then a handful of episodes from season 9.
season 10-11-12 are pretty bad but still watchable.
everything after is hot garbage apart from a few half decent episodes here and there
>>
3 and 4.
>>
>>223913273
Yeah this, 10 only gets lumped in becuase people like round numbers
9 already had more bad episodes than good but still has some classics
2-8 Is the actual golden era
>>
>>223910859
Yes.
>>
>>223912752
Your post is off topic. This is a The Simpsons thread, weirdo.

Lisa Simpson would not be a promoter of Elon Musk [even though he probably actually is the greatest living inventor] if she were still alive today
>>
>>223913162
>The Simpsons isn't funny
You mean to say, "I don't get the reference"
>>
>>223913522
He has never invented anything much like fellow normie Idol and fraud Steve jobs
>>
I'd say only the first 8. Seasons 9 and 10 aren't very good either.
>>223913522
Elon Musk was reddit's golden boy for a good decade or so. Teslas were not only good for the environment (kek) but also high status, so women loved them. Lisa is exactly the kind of idiot who would cling to his every word back in the early 2010s.
>>
Season 10 is when you should stop. Episodes like "When you Dish Upon a Star" are a clear indicator that the show is done being creative/fresh.

Elon was just really good at injecting money into the right businesses. As well as making unprofitable businesses profitable. For example, he bought Twitter, kicked out all the diversity hires, and tripled the ads (while charging you to remove them). Now the app is making money instead of losing it year on year.
>>
>>223912029
What's wrong with 1
>>
>>223913638
It looks like shit and isn't funny. 2 isn't really much better.

Whatever season it was that brought Sideshow Bob back and made him into a bad guy again. I thought that “Brother from Another Series” was the perfect place to end his arc.
>>
>>223913651
The show was zombified long before that. I remember people saying the Tony Hawk episode was the point of no return. But the show had been trash 100 episodes beforehand.
>>
The show peaked with the 5th episode of the 11th season
>>
S9 has some bangers, enough to watch the season all the way through.

It's all downhill from When you Dish Upon A Star at the beginning of S10.
>>
>>223913626
do you seriously in your heart of hearts believe that not a single person at twitter ever thought of "dude what if more ads"?
>>
Seems like 9 seasons is as far as you can stretch a series. Thats when seinfeld ended and Its Always Sunny was past its point of no return.
>>
>>223913702
You’re just mad that he broke the commie left’s stranglehold on the flow of information, let’s not bullshit ourselves. Community notes alone made X a superior social media platform than Twitter.

>>
>>223913783
Clip shows.
>>
>>223912167
Homer to the Max may be the turning point for me. Becomes a little too ridiculous in every direction and the Simpsons became omniscient permenantly famous demigods in their world or something.
>>
>>223910859
First seven are great 8-14 are fine
>>
>>223911990
Season 1-2 are the best of the best
>>
>>223913638
Nothing. People here are just super autistic and anything that doesn't look right angers and frightens them
>>
>>223913930
It’s a bit thin on jokes
>>
>>223911941
>Also season 9 starts demolishing the Simpsons canon
Enough with this bullshit. "Hurricane Neddy" was season 8, and it gives Flanders an outlandish backstory to justify his behaviour, makes him go through character development that changes him completely, and it's all completely forgotten right after with him going to back to how he always was.
>>
>>223913136
>People just remember the funny start and completely forget the whole retarded and unfunny third act.
This.
>>
>>223913962
The jokes are still funny not as much as later seasons but the stories the soul et cetera makes up for that
>>
>>223913930
Well it makes sense that the animators themselves were autistic about how they should look. I actually like the rough cartoony animation of that season but the writing quality wasn't there yet
>>
>>223913651
This is a typical transitional episode into zombie Simpsons where the story is clearly shit but there are still a lot of funny jokes. It was written by John Swartzwelder and you can tell.
>>
>>223913974
The first third of that episode is quite funny
>>
>>223914028
Most of season one episodes are classic television that'll be watched 100 years from now like Walt Disney classic shorts looney tunes Popeye
>>
>>223913711
>those 8+ ratings for multiple episodes season 23 and beyond
>back to back 8+ eps in season 33
What were those?
>>
>>223914105
Generally all the highly rated late episodes are future ones. Or some other gimmick
>>
>>223910859

Everything after the Movie is trash
>>
>>223910859
10 if you're american
15 if you're latin american
>>
1-9 (although 9 had a few stinkers). 10 was the death rattle. 11+ is unwatchable
>>
>>223913127
Early 2000s Simpsons is in that awkward middle ground where it doesn't exactly jump out to you as shockingly terrible or anything (especially not if you're a kid) but you know it never would've gotten more than two seasons if it had been starting out then and there as its own thing.
A Tale of Two Springfields is a quintessential transitional episode in that regard I think.
>Random scattershot approach with different kinds of jokes (unexpected gore, Jerkass Homer), some are actually funny and some are abysmally shit.
>Episode parodies a Dickens novel but like every lazy parody, it just uses the source material as a skeleton for the plot rather than really giving commentary on it.
>The celebrity cameo is very much here to promote the celebrity and not to poke fun at them.

In episode 1F21 "Lady Bouvier's Lover" we see Grandpa mistakenly go to the house across the street for Maggie's birthday party. Yet in episode 3F09 "Two Bad Neighbors" the house across the street is now the mansion George Bush Sr moves into. What, are we to believe this is some sort of magic neighborhood?
Boy, I hope somebody got fired for that blunder.

Season 9 is the last season with more good than bad episodes.
>>
>>223911798
Just a few episodes per season.
>>
>>223910859
it's not worth watching past the first season and even that only has a few good episodes

In episode 3F03 "Lisa the Vegetarian" Ned's idionsyncratic manner of speech is shown to be common throughout his entire family regardless of nationality or ethnicity. Yet in episode 4F07 "Hurricane Neddy" Ned's manner of speech is shown to be caused by repressing his childhood anger at the Doctor's use of the Spankological Protocol.
Heh, I hope somebody got fired for that blunder.

Girly Edition is so bad that I always instinctively associate it with season 11 or 12.

its crazy to think that the show has been bad for literally a quarter century. i cant think of anything where you had a decade of huge success, then literally 2.5x that of crap.

This episode has a dogshit premise but it's full of great jokes

>>223910859
i played a simpsons porn game the other day where you play as fry from futurama getting sent back in time through a wormhole and dr. finkelstein has to figure out how to build rick sanchez's wormhole gun more or less, also you fuck every female in the simpsons family: marge, her twin sisters, maggie all grown up, and lisa. you also have a threesome with bart. the animations were alright but the story was boring. oh also marge fucks flanders.
>>
>>223917612
I agree, as did some of the others for several seasons after it peaked. Part of why it’s so hard to draw a specific line at where it all went to shit.
>>
>>223917693
If the simpsons had ended with behind the laughter i don't think there would be debates about a "golden age", i think people would just put up with the bad season 11 episodes like they do for seasons 1 & 2
