>She lost control of her rented Renault 10 and hit a signpost after it skidded due to rain ten kilometres from Nice at the Villeneuve-Loubet exit of the autoroute La Provençale then the vehicle flipped over in a field and burst into flames. The gas tank had been damaged, followed by Dorléac screaming before it ignited. She had been en route to Nice Côte d'Azur Airport after vacationing with Deneuve at Saint-Tropez and was afraid of missing her flight. She was pinned under the steering wheel and was seen struggling to get out of the car, but was unable to unbuckle her seat belt and open the door.[11] Police later identified her body only from the fragment of a cheque book, a diary, and her driver's licence.

That is the most disgusting piece of interviewing I have seen in such a long time. I cannot believe this Margo guy. I have never seen a single one of his films, but he strikes me as the worst type of person who wants to remake Asian classics, but with blacks. It is an absolute disgust. It is disgusting how the Western society has done this, how little respect they have for the Asiatic cinema. And I think it is vastly superior to the Western cinema, and it is so superior to the Western cinema that the white man is scared of this. They know it, and good isn't able to create anything on its own. It's evil that just corrupts, and evil does not build anything, and therefore the white man has no choice but to corrupt what is good, basically to corrupt the Asian cinema. That is all they can do to get back at us because they think that they are better, because they are the Western world, and they've been conditioned to believe that the Western world is all that matters. But they have lost to the East. They have lost badly to the Asiatic cinema masters. And so all they can do is throw their bio-weapons, known as the blacks, at Asian cinema. It is such a pathetic attempt and excuse at evil, and that's all I can say that these white people are. They're just evil, and they deserve to lose their cinema. They deserve the horrible shit cinema that they have today. They deserve it all.

Alas, my poor Yoricks, this is just the tale as old as time, where the young nymphets, the young beauties, die in the hands of reality, but it is the evil, the evil such as that Marco character, that endures and makes shitty cinema, while all the masters and all the beautiful women around him perish. It is these people who keep on enduring, and it makes me beg the question. It begs the question as to why. How? How does this persist? How come this always happens? It makes me wonder. The examples are limitless. You don't need me to list them off. I know all of you guys are able to figure it out on your own. So why is it like this? I keep seeing it happen, and we are way too powerless to stop it. So what must we do to save our cinema? What must we do to save the cinema? The cinema arts. What do we do? I am just at a loss.

I know nothing of this super lemon that you speak of, but alas, you are part of the problem. You are part of the evil. You are the profane. I can see it in your post, your writing, the way that you simp for absolute failure. It is embarrassing and it is disgusting. I think it is so pathetic to see a shitbird such as yourself come out in full defense of some Italian greaser who looks like he should be working at the side of a pizzeria making meatballs for my Italian sub, even though I don't usually eat that shit. I usually go with a solid BLT, but, you know, with a little less tomato and a little bit more bacon. But I digress, because Marco, this man should be working at some kind of dingy joint, the kind that you see in, like, the film noir movies of the '40s, where Humphrey Bogart goes to the counter of some pizzeria and some fat piece of shit comes out with a little bit of exposition. That is what Marco should be doing with his life. That's what it looks like he is. That's all he will ever be. His cinema is irrelevant, and so are you.

>When a mini-dwarf rich kid from Nashville like Harmony Korine flies first class and moves to New York City’s Soho in his ‘plush safe’ apartment, running around town quoting Godard with lines like, "Fuck the bourgeois", it’s insincere, it’s calculated, it’s unoriginal, and it’s the worst thing in the world, ‘trendy’. He already knows that he and his boring girlfriend Connecticut Chloe Sevigny are going to be on the cover of ‘The Face’. He knows he’ll get his run at The Angelica and be hip in Japan. But no one will ever make an important film because they saw ‘Gummo’ or ‘Donkey Boy’.

The only impact Harmony Korine will have will be on the lives of the girls he slipped drugs to, got stoned and raped while they were passed out. An autobiographical scenario he chose to include in his average screenplay ‘Kids.' I’ll fuck your ass Cary Woods.
I’m a supporter and admirer of both Vincent Gallo and Harmony Korine. What about you?

I disagree because there are filmmakers such as Guan Hu, the director of Black Dog from 2023, and he is carrying the torch pretty well, and there are plenty of other Chinese filmmakers who are doing so as well. However, that anon is correct that Lee Chang-dong is a powerhouse of the Asian cinema. In fact, I want to say that he is the greatest Korean filmmaker since Bong Joon-ho, the guy who made The People in White and Why Has Bodhidharma Left for the East. Those are the two greatest Korean films ever made, and Lee Chang-dong is the only one who has come close to reaching such artistic and thematic heights. There are losers such as Bong Joon-ho and his ridiculously mundane and derivative Parasite, which is very, very acclaimed by the profane and the masses who do not understand the works of the cinema as much as the transcendentalists do. The transcendentalists have realized that Lee Chang-dong is one of the greatest living film artists that we have today, not just in the Asian world but in general. And this became apparent with Burning, which is a commercial film. It is a genre film, but it has all of the trademarks of the brilliant literary minds of both the West and the East, as it was inspired by Burning Barns from Murakami, Haruki Murakami, who in turn was inspired by William Faulkner and his Barn Burning. Therefore, the literary greatness of both worlds was displayed in Burning, making it such a sentimental masterpiece of both Asian and Western world. Now this goes beyond just the commercial genre film, because everything going backwards in Lee Chang-dong's career is very close to the transcendental style as well. All of his other films are the spiritual successor to Yasujiro Ozu, not that charlatan hack fraud loser Edward Yang and his Hollywood Hills home. He is a traitor to the Asians. He is a race traitor. Edward Yang is burning in hell with the devil fucking him in the ass with three different dicks, all going in different orifices.

>>223913621
. But we are talking of Lee Chang-dong, who is not a sellout like Simon Liang is. .I want to say that Lee Chang-dong is the greatest Korean filmmaker alive just because he has made more films than the man who made Bodhidharma Leaving for the East. However, I don't think any of them are quite as strong as that one, so I cannot make that claim as of yet, although in my heart it is true. But we have to pay attention to the overall greatness of the entire filmography as well as the individual films

The American audience is too sterilized to appreciate someone like them right now. They’d rather consume eunuchslop than something real and retarded. Everything has to be safe because they are a bunch of babies without a backbone. The only Americans that would appreciate someone like them are niggas, rednecks, fellow retards, spics and school shooters, all people on the precipice of society, and blacklisted from life. Most of these people are not initiated into cinema, and will remain that way forever.
>>
>>223913644
Early and middle period Tsai, yes, I agree, but late period Tsai, after the 2009 AMWF film Visage, has proven that he is a bit of a sellout. If the coffee thing, the whole coffee fiasco did not sell you on that idea, then you just have to see all of his late period work. The man is a sellout. I know Stray Dog was very good. We all like Stray Dog here. I know and understand it is blasphemy to bad-mouth Stray Dog. However, as good as that film is, Tsai's late period work is objectively inferior to his middle period work, and I would even argue that his early work is a little better than the late period work. All it comes down to is the fact that he got very much successful in the acclaim circuit, in the festival circuit, in the rich white people talk-about-things-at-cocktail-parties with little bony tuna fish things in cocktail things type of deal. You know what I mean? I'm not bougie like he is. He is a member of the bourgeois now. He is no longer a struggling artist trying to find his way in the world. He is very much an establishment filmmaker, and now he does establishment work. Just look at all of his recent endeavors. They are all commercial endeavors. Even his Walker series with Mr. Lee Kang-sheng is very much a cop-out to making challenging cinema when one all has to do is just fly to an exotic location in Europe and walk around and eat ice cream at such a slow pace, it makes one's mouth dry and desire thirst and sustenance that the film is unable to provide.
>>
>>223913634
The American audience believes that Jane Schoenbum is neurodivergent and unique when actually she is just a quintessential example of a sterilized world. She is a square, just like every other contemporary American filmmaker!

>>223914074
I think humanity's pretty much at its lowest point right now, but it's lowkey, kinda like frogs that are being boiled to death in such a slow way that they don't realize they're going to die. I think people needs to change in the next 50 years or it's a wrap, total extinction for us. Same thing applies to cinema, music, vidya... the state of things is so bad that "artists" have become sloppers which just want to replicate things from the past instead of creating something new and advancing the artform. That's 95% of what I see, but I think there's like a 5% of people that can change shit, but they're so conditioned to stay silent that they won't do shit, kinda like Vincent Gallo; they get bullied by people that do want shit to suck because they're empty inside and want the outside world to reflect their nihilism back at them.

I see where you're coming from. I still enjoy the Walker films enough to watch them in full, mostly thanks to Tsai's eye for framing a shot and the relaxing quality the films have on me, but I yearn for the days when Tsai had a creative passion for feature filmmaking. He keeps mentioning a feature idea he wants to do when Lee reaches 60 years old. If it actually happens, I'll still be excited for it because I liked Days. My appreciation of it grows with time, yet it lacks a rawness his earlier work had, despite the film's lo-fi production style.

>>223914140
Most people who create nowadays do so because of their ego, not because they are creative people, they aren't that at all. These people care more about being recognized as an artist/director/gamedev than they do about actually creating something interesting and powerful. They just want their name up there with the other creators. The desire is being "the creative genius" giving interviews on YouTube, and the easiest way to get there is to re-do what others have done.

You can satisfy your desire for recognition and also be creative. Anti-ego fags are also destroying the world and the arts... retards really believe in their autistic moralfagging that you should give out works of art for free. You're illicitly leaping from the descriptive claim that these things involve "extreme emotions" (itself a very questionable assumption, especially in the case of war) to the normative one that they are instances of emotional dysregulation (the original point explicitly mentioned hysteria).

Literally just woke up from my deep dream to post in film/
1/2
The dream I had, it took me coming back to a city-like scape that was a recurring element in previous dreams. It is hard to describe it, but it's sort of like San Francisco, but it is much more industrial. It's much more downtown. It's almost labyrinth-like in a way, while having that sort of San Francisco aesthetic in a way. But not really. It's very hard to describe what the cityscape is like. However, I had seen it in a couple of dreams before, and I returned to it again after a long time. It was nighttime, I believe, and for some reason it was like a place to go for touring or some kind of thing that was going on. I don't know at all, but I was there with my dad and sister, which is very weird because I never do anything with them, and I don't particularly see them in my dreams ever. But I also had my cat with me, my cat Chicken, who is a big part of my life and a big part of a lot of my dreams.
>>
>>223924836
2/2
Aside from school being the number one reoccurring element, my cat is the second most. And in the dream, I dreamt that we had him in this carrier thing, and we were walking around town, but he was very uncomfortable. He kept wriggling around and was not very happy. So I took him to, like, a little motel, and I tried to take him out of his carrier and tried to comfort him, and he had a little jacket on. It was almost like a little green straightjacket type of thing to keep him, like, from wriggling around, like a harness, I mean. It was supposed to be like a harness, but it was more like a straightjacket. Anyway, I tried to put it as comfortably as possible, but my sister and father kept rushing me. They kept wanting to go out and do things, and I was like, No, I think I gotta go back to the car. So I took my cat. I packed him in the carrier, and as we were all walking down the street, I turned a corner and I just started to continue walking, and I walked, and I didn't know where I was going because I knew the general direction of my car. I just didn't know where exactly to go to get there, but I recognized some streets and landmarks, and so I was walking back with my cat carrier in hand, and then this dog came up, and the dog started to growl and snarl, and it came up and it bit me in the wrist. I told the dog to go away. I told the dog, you know, Shoo, shoo. I tried to throw an invisible ball so it would run, but it came back and bit me in the wrist again. It didn't hurt, but I was just like, Get the fuck off, you retarded dog. And then the owner came. He was smiling. It was, like, some old man. He was trying to tell me to play with the dog. I was like, No. And then I go into a little retreat. It was like a bathroom, and, you know, that's not where I wanted to go, so I turned back, and I saw the old man get ready to scold me, and I was about ready to throw that old geezer into the cement, but then he started meowing, in real life, and I woke up.

I will try to be as to the point as possible with this, and I will try not to beat around the bush. But that being said, I gotta say that as much as I want to like The Young Girls of Rochefort, there is a big fundamental problem with it. The big fundamental problem being that Catherine Deneuve is barely in it from the beginning. What I'm saying is that we needed to have her scenes right at the start. Instead, the start of the film is a bunch of literal who's, and it's not super interesting. But the best scene in the start of the movie is the opening musical number with that one brunette lady, the second lead, I think she is, and that whole song and dance number in the little ballet studio is definitely the way that you want to open up your film. However, after that scene is over, it goes back to the literal who characters, which is not why I'm watching The Young Girls of Rochefort. The reason I am watching is for Catherine Deneuve, but I suppose Jacques Demy was too infatuated with his male actors to know these things. And so as much as we want to praise The Young Girls of Rochefort, I do not believe we can, because the star-booba attraction does not show up for quite some time and feels almost secondary in this picture, which is why I much prefer Donkey Skin and The Umbrellas of Cherbourg, because those are Deneuve vehicles, and I need a good Deneuve vehicle. I would say Rochefort is sort of in the same league as, like, Bay of Angels and Lola, but it's a step above those. It is like a step above those, but a step below Donkey Skin and The Umbrellas of Cherbourg. I also think A Slightly Pregnant Man is very underrated. It is a very good vehicle for Deneuve. It is not Gunerbait, but it is a very fun, enjoyable movie, and I want to recommend it to everybody here. So yes, go watch A Slightly Pregnant Man, directed by Jacques Demy.

Françoise pulls out to overtake the car in front of her and as she pulls back across the road she loses control of the car, it goes into a spin and crashes into a signpost at the side of the road. By the time the driver of the car she’s overtaken has pulled over to help, it’s too late. The Renault is already on fire and the heat too intense for him to get near. He sees Françoise beating her fists against the driver’s window in a desperate attempt to escape before the car explodes. She was just 25 years old.

Felt disappointed watching The Young Girls of Rochefort. Catherine Deneuve should have had more scenes in it especially in the beginning sequences. For that reason, I much prefer Donkey Skin and The Umbrellas of Cherbourg, because those actually feel like Deneuve vehicles. I recommend everyone watch A Slightly Pregnant Man (dir. Jacques Demy, 1973). Does anyone have other Deneuve joints they would rec?

Cinema is the medium of the moving image, and I watch movies exclusively for appealing visuals. Cinema is not a great medium for storytelling- never was, never will be. Story is tolerable as long as it doesn't get in the way. Make me listen to 30 seconds of exposition and I'm out. Some entertaining lines of dialogue here and there, that's fine, good even. But you don't need to waste 100 minutes running from one recycled plot point to another. Been there, done that. You're not doing anything thematically interesting that literature hasn't done better decades ago. The Walker movies would be perfect it the walker was a beautiful lady instead, but alas. Lee is still charming in his own way.

>On March 11, 1931, 42-year-old Murnau was killed in a bizarre car accident south of Santa Barbara when his Packard convertible plunged 30 feet over a cliff onto the beach. Also dead was his 14-year-old Filipino houseboy, Garcia Stevenson, who was driving. The position of the bodies and their state of undress indicated that homosexual Murnau was engaging in a sex act with the boy when the car went off the road.9 Just 11 brave friends showed up at his funeral. The reclusive Garbo was one. She kept his death mask on her desk for the rest of her life.

>Bennett’s was a special house. The women were look-alikes of actresses from MGM and the other studios. For a hefty price customers chose between “Joan Crawford,” “Barbara Stanwyck,” “Alice Faye,” “Carole Lombard,” “Claudette Colbert,” “Ginger Rogers,” “Marlene Dietrich,” or any other special request, except for Greta Garbo and Katharine Hepburn, who were never copied. Some of the women were surgically enhanced to ensure accuracy and each was an eerie replica of the original, versed in her life, movies, and interests. Clients felt like they were with the real stars. The studios lent Mae’s actual costumes; if a particular outfit was not available an in-house wardrobe mistress in the basement made outfits by hand. Sharing the basement were hairdressers and makeup men.[19] In his biography, Mickey Rooney described a similar site, but recalled the name as “the T&M Studio.” Groucho Marx had taken him there and was a regular. Like the House of Francis, executives and actors from out of town used Bennett’s girls as they pleased. Most were from among the rolls of the six–month option girls. Thalberg came with his friends, but waited in an overstuffed chair in front of the fire reading the paper or playing the grand piano.

>Lawrence Olivier also resumed a sporadic 15-year-long relationship with comedian Danny Kaye. Kaye was living at 1103 San Ysidro Drive, so Olivier uprooted Vivien Leigh shortly after GWTW filming ended and moved into next door to Kaye. Leigh was convinced that she could keep Olivier interested in heterosexuality, but confronted with the Kaye relationship, she exhibited the beginnings of a breakdown. During the next decade the Olivier-Leigh relationship would dissolve amidst a string of sexual identity and mental problems.
