That game sucked

Every commercial for children's toys hyped them so far into stratosphere that the crash into reality was devastating. The timed one that you had to fill with widgets and had a catchy tune. Creepy crawlers that could be squished once. The bop it that held your interest for 5 minutes and then found it mundane. Raised by tv podcast had an episode on 90s tv commercials, pretty funny.

That game sucked. Even as a kid you were kind of cynical about commercials and how the game/toy would actually be in real life, so you were kinda prepared for a letdown. But Crossfire was just a whole other level of letdown.

Agree w/ both

I asked for this as a kid for Christmas because I saw the commercials for it. got it. Instantly realized the commercials make it look action packed, but irl it's just a basic board game with a gimmick. I think my sister and I took turns rolling the boulder down it but never actually played it.

Hot Shotz by Milton Bradley was a prime example of this. The commercial looked BADASS. The real thing barely amounted to more than hungry hungry hippos + mini skeeball. I had a poor friend whose dad used to be pretty handy with building stuff, and I remember he built an at-home version of Hot Shotz out of wood, springs, a spoon for the ball-launcher, and some other shit. It played pretty much EXACTLY the same as the $50 storebought version. True genius- level redneck engineering

Crocodile Mile was actually a big improvement on slip n slide. Slip n slide endings were kind of anticlimatic. You either sort of petered out before the end, or if you had a good slide and made it to the end and cleared the slide, you were essentially punished because you just ended up sliding on hard grass and dirt. Crocodile mile added the splash pool, which was rewarding.

Still do not understand the branding though. Why are you knowingly sliding into the crocodile if it's dangerous? Makes it like you are supposed to stop before the crocodile so you don't get eaten and die? But that's lame. Why discourage going into the splash pool/?

>Why are you knowingly sliding into the crocodile if it's dangerous? Makes it like you are supposed to stop before the crocodile so you don't get eaten and die? But that's lame. Why discourage going into the splash pool/?

I thought you were sliding past the crocodiles then making it to the safe zone via the little ramp so you had to run fast to blow past them then hit the ramp to hit a safe part of the lake so it encouraged kids to to just run at full speed

I played with mine a bit. I had alot of great board games, but they were always at my moms house and I wasn't allowed to bring them to my dads where I spent the weekdays. Mom's was in a different city. Occasionally I could get a game with my sister or mother, but I enjoyed games like W&W and Dark World so you can guess why they didn't play them.
