Which Friday the 13th movie is the worst?
>>
all of them
>>
>>223918115
Probably jason x
>erm but that one kill
Having 7 seconds of okayish special effects isnt worth watching a movie for
>>
Probably 2009 or Jason X but they're still guilty pleasure kinos. 1-8 are untouchable for me, I marathon those every year or so. Jason Goes to Hell is an acceptable answer for worst one but it's grown on me a lot over the years.
>>
Jason Takes Manhattan (I forget the number)
>>
All of the movies are shit, so the ones I consider to be the worst are 1,7, and X because they’re just boring aside from their endings.
>>
>>223918203
I annual marathoned mine too early
And now this November 13th I will have to either do it all again or find something else
>>
>>223918115
They all suck becaues the mpaa made them cut out all the good shit to avoid an X rating.
>>
>>223918209
yeah. keep waiting for shit to happen and it doesn't despite new setting. also no tits.
>>
>>223918115
i like it when she grabs her own cheek. that actress was a big pothead, and still is. anyway, part 8
>>
im a millennial that just started watching all these shitty 70s/80s slashers. i'll go with all of them, including the first. wtf is the appeal of these other than gore porn? some random kid drowns so he becomes... actual, literal, evil incarnate... just because? why doesn't this happen to any other kid that does an untimely death? whats the correlation between getting roasted in a steam room and gaining the abilities to use dreams to affect the real world? im watching halloween 1978 right now and this one seems to be the superior of all the classic slashers so far. too bad it start jamie lee curtis who im not a huge fan of.
>>
>>223918884
what
>>
Jason Goes to Hell
>>
>>223918884
>why this why that
they weren't writing the epic of gilgamesh, anon
it was just some hippie generation boomers flying by the seats of their pants trying to commercially release a movie for fun and money

How much was cut from the 80s movies?
>>
>>223919128
no, that's not America. that's leftist man-hating puritanism, for lack of better word. the movies had plenty of tits. those were made in America. wtf this nigga talkin about
>>
>>223918115
weird. i watched the first one for the first time yesterday. i don't think ive ever seen any of the others, not sure why. i like horror but not slasher's i guess.

anyway the first one sucks. it's absolute shit tier acting and writing. kevin bacon is in it though, which is funny. he looks pretty good. his upturned nose suited him when he was younger.
>>
>>223919345
Go back to /pol/ and stay there. Kids could always rent The Texas Chainsaw Massacre at the video store, but if they even showed at the counter with soft porn they'd get marched out of there.
>yes i'm showing my age
America is very puritanical. Violence is great, cruelty is a fetish, sex is something to be ALL fucked up over. Blame your masters and take another psych med.
>>
>>223919365
>it's absolute shit tier acting and writing
Yep, it was for young people to go to the theaters and scream. If you want to get all sophomoric about it, the tension around murderers and the Manson clan was exorcised in a public, group setting.

These days, media is consumed, mostly in private, by people who are long in the habit of acting like brats online.

Critiquing slashers is dumb.
>>
>>223918115
VII.
>>
>>223918209
This. I remember watching it on cable after pretending to be sick to get out of school and huffing my mom's spray-on deodorant out of one of those old plastic lightsabers that was collapsible.
>>
>>223918209
>Jason Takes Manhattan
That one is actually good.
>>
I always liked the 2009 version because the girls get hot and naked and wear hot little tight outfits that get me chubbed
>>
>>223919143
I HAVE THE POOOOWWWWWEEEEEER
>>
>>223918115
Not a big Jason guy but I tend to think the first handful + 2009 are the best ones. I like it when Jason is human, or at least more human than he is later. He just doesn't work as some unstoppable killer like Michael Myers does, imo.
>>
>>223920097
Good: I, V, VI and VIII.
Average: II, III and IV.
Bad: VII, IX and X.
>>
>>223918951
Only right answer.
>>
>>223918884
>im watching halloween 1978 right now and this one seems to be the superior of all the classic slashers so far
it is, by a lot
>>
the remake.
1-8 are the best franchise of all time.
>>
>>223918115
JASON TAKES MANHATTAN

NO CONTEST!
>>
>>223918951
This one. Different isn't automatically bad. But Jason Goes to Hell is different and it's stupid and it's boring on top of that.
>>
>>223920025
it should have been called “Jason Takes a Boat”
>>
>>223921921
hahahahaha, gottem
>>
>>223920216
7 is one of the only interesting ones
>>
Why do modern horror movies no longer appeal to the male gaze?
>>
>>223921931
Eh… 7 has the cool battle and water damaged Jason look and the telekinetic smackdown at the end, but the rest is pretty bad. It also really messes up the timeline of the series. Realistically speaking, the main events of the movie should be taking place in 1999/2000.
>>
>>223918115
first one because hockey mask jason is not in it
>>
>>223923064
That applies to the second one as well.
>>
>>223918884
In the pre-internet age a lot of them existed as a way to allow teenagers access to erotica (and other activities forbidden to them by their parents). You couldn't just go to Pornhub, so these kind of films were the only way to see a titty, or hear a joke about weed. It's also part of why they mostly died in the 2000's since everyone got internet and could look up anything without parental permission.
>>
>>223922979
Males are now second rate consumers
>>
>>223922979
Because women are the primary consumers of horror.
>>
I thought the reboot movie as pretty good as well

F13 fans are spoiled for choice, compared to Halloween which doesn't have a single good sequel
>>
>>223923068
true but the original question was which one. i was going to just say the first one because jason isnt even in it. but specified hockey mask wearing jason because i knew if i just said jason wasnt in it someone would point out he is in fact in it just at the very end
>>
>>223923195
I’ll always like the first two for having the best atmosphere. They were both filmed at actual camps on the east coast. 3-5 being filmed in SoCal just didn’t feel right.
>>
Jason Goes to Hell is my favorite because it has that cute girl orgasm naked in the tent.
>>
>>223923301
I also like the decoy chick with the early 90s bolt-ons at the beginning
>>
>>223918190
>>223918203
Yet Jason X is the only one worth watching.
>>
>>223923319
It’s okay, but both X and FvJ are so blatantly early 00s Canadian productions.
>>
>>223918884
God, I can’t tell you how much I hate that the proliferation of internet access now forces me to suffer the existence of third-worlders.
>>
>>223923240
>I’ll always like the first two for having the best atmosphere. They were both filmed at actual camps on the east coast.
huh... i always figured they were all filmed in california
>>
>>223919143
They were opening a camping kit that he had ordered, and he did that in a moment of excitement, and then Pam immediately mocked him for it and took the machete back.
>>
>>223923386
First one was in Jersey, and the second one was in Connecticut. It’s weird, but even as a kid watching I could tell while watching part 3 that they were trying to pass off California as New Jersey, and it just wasn’t working. Something about the flatness and sparseness of it, not to mention the tiny mud puddle they’re trying to present as Crystal Lake.
>>
>>223923386
It was New Jersey and Connecticut for the first two. I grew up in Pennsylvania so those small rural towns and summer foliage on the east coast are very distinctive and unlike what you see in California.
>>
>>223923427
I honestly think that I took to those movies so much as a kid (aside from just thinking that Jason was cool looking) was because the area particularly in the first two looked identical to a lake that I used to go bluegill fishing with my dad on. It’s also why I refused to go camping in a tent.
>>
>>223923426
Part 4 is the one that feels the most California to me. It has more recognizable actors in it and all of a sudden you have Jason crashing through walls and people flying through plate glass windows like it’s a Hollywood stunt show lol
>>
>>223923469
Absolutely. I even went to one of those old school style Boy Scout camps as a kid where we swam and canoed in the lake.

>>223923475
Not to mention Trish and her mom felt extremely SoCal coded and looked like 80s soap opera babes.
>>
>>223923426
>First one was in Jersey, and the second one was in Connecticut.
>>223923427
>I grew up in Pennsylvania so those small rural towns and summer foliage on the east coast are very distinctive
i actually always lived on the east coast around small rural towns. guess i just dont pay that close attention when i watch stuff. obviously need people to point these things out for me
>>
>>223923556
Have you seen Sleepaway Camp? That’s the quintessential 80s summer camp aesthetic to me.
>>
>>223923638
It simultaneously makes summer camp look comfy as hell, and like a nightmarish humiliation ritual, even without the murders. Basically a PE class that takes all summer, and you don’t get to go home at the end of it.
>>
>>223923638
nope. as far as horror movie aesthetics go i like boiler room/industrial sites. i used to play in the woods as a kid so they arent scary to me
>>
>>223923692
I’ve always wondered if 80s movie summer camps actually exist. By that I mean there’s a single large group of campers who appear to stay there for the whole summer. The ones I went to as a kid were only a week-long thing and then a new group of campers would come in.
>>
>>223923763
Looking back, it feels like such a boomer holdover. It was so prolific, from what felt like a ton of horror movies to The Simpsons, Salute Your Shorts, High Feather, and the goddamn Addams Family, and everything in between. It’s kind of like how that 50s “doo wop” shit was so prolific in children’s media in the 80s/early-90s too.
>>
>>223918115
>>
>>223923763
>I’ve always wondered if 80s movie summer camps actually exist.
not where i lived or when i grew up. i was a kid then and nobody i knew even went on vacation with their family during the summer. summer camps are similar to ski trips in that ive never known anybody that has ever gone skiing or to a ski lodge, but they show people going all the time on tv
>>
>>223923851
Yeah, you’re probably right. The boomer writers were probably basing it on the types of camps they went to in the 50s/60s.
>>
>>223918190
Stfu faggot Jason X is fucking kino no I will not elaborate further
>>
>>223923908
Pretty much. Like I went to Boy Scout camp a few times, but it was only one week. Nothing like the all summer long coed camps in 80s movies.
>>
>>223919128
>i want to show kids sex and gore
What an odd thing to say
>>
>>223923933
Maybe if you're 12.
>>
>>223923955
He phrased it poorly, but kids will always seek out stuff like horror because of its forbidden fruit nature. I guarantee there’s plenty of anons on 4chan who started browsing here when they were like twelve and saw all kinds of fucked up images and videos.
>>
Whichever one had them eating his organs. That was some stupid shit.
>>
>>223923426
>not to mention the tiny mud puddle they’re trying to present as Crystal Lake
Just assumed while watching that the house in part 3 was on a channel that led to the lake. Did they really say or insinuate THAT was actually Crystal Lake?!
>>
>>223923522
>Trish and her mom
Did we ever find out what happened to her mom? Always figured she died off screen.
>>
>>223918884
You've aged out of the target demographic for these movies. The slasher genre is for teenagers to get some cheap thrills. The internet making gore and porn easily accessible has also lessened their appeal.

If you like Halloween you should watch the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre though, legit just an amazing movie, no nostalgia or teenage hormones required.

Not a movie, but the new Crystal Lake show is probably the worst thing to come out of the franchise SO FAR, I'm sure they can do worse in the future given Crytal Lake
>"In Crystal Lake's writer's Bradley Caleb Kane's own words "I tried. That’s America. You can give the kids all the violence, but God forbid they see some breasts.", he claims he was overruled/forbidden from showing nudity."
LOL, maybe even Lmao

Yeah, it was insinuated that the house in Part 3 is supposed to be on the other side of the lake from the camp or something. It’s a huge stretch, but 1-7 are all supposed to be taking place in the same general vicinity of the small New Jersey town shown in the original movie.
>>

I’ve always loved that she grabs the wrong cheek and they just left it in the movie lol

that was mostly because of the original writer tying up the property with endless legal copyright battles though

For me, it is 22-year-old Kevin Bacon's "ham".
>>

You two are such fags.
