>>223928924As a GenX (former) star wars fan, I can't say I agree. The Sequels are really much worse, with no excuse for being as bad as they are.The Prequels were bad for complicated reasons. A blend of questionable story choices, contrivances and direction/execution made for some boring cinema. But even with the plot holes, bad acting, and the general difficulty pulling off (an admittedly ambitious and hard to sell) story about tragic downfall of both Anakin and the Old Republic, the Prequel trilogy is still delivers something real. The prequels have a coherent, complete narrative with real characters and an epic plot. The prequels are an absolute bounty of novel creativity. Ship designs, alien designs, environments and planets, sound designs, and of course John Williams' epic soundtrack are all AAA top-tier filmmaking, better even than the originals in many respects. Square-Enix for example shamelessly copied the prequel aesthetic in Final Fantasy XII. Meanwhile, the sequels avoided a handful of the blatant directorial sins that Lucas committed, so that if you are drunk you can sit through a movie and not realize how terrible it is. But then completely fumbled EVERYTHING ELSE.The story is incoherent.The characters are fake and gay. (When not overtly hostile to the legacy)The world-building is negative.The "creative elements" are bland to nonexistent.The visual style is unremarkable.The music is chopped up and unmemorable
