For a serious actress that´s as good as she is (she is probably the best of her generation) and actually wants to act it is understandable to choose challenging projects or projects that allow creative freedom over wasting her youth wearing a spandex suit and doing silly posses against a green screen for the best part of two decades. She is actually making movies and they are not. I respect her far more than i respect any of the sellouts that contributed to this dismal state of the industry. She absolutely made the right choice.

Everything she made after Hanna, she had a minor role, low budget movie or it was ultra flop. She tried her luck with The Host but somehow managed to make a flop on Stephenie Meyer book when Twilight was printing money not even an year earlier. She was in The Grand Budapest Hotel but her role was more of a prop than actual role. After this she only starred in bunch of low budged movies.
