Contrarians would rather sell their mothers and sisters to prostitution than admit that the prequels were terrible movies in retrospect.

EP1 raped the lore and EP2 was boring (never saw it). People mostly liked 3 for what it was.

Ep1 was one of the first movies I ever saw in theatres, I thought the mundanity of a dispute over trade routes was an interesting place to start a story and thought it was pretty good overall, but my dad just seemed sad.

You're right. In my opinion, only the original trilogy films and the prequel trilogy films are canon. The Skywalker Saga is about the rise, fall and redemption of Anakin Skywalker and the Disney sequel trilogy undermines that. As far as I'm concerned, Return Of The Jedi is the final film of the Skywalker Saga and, after Return Of The Jedi, the galaxy enjoys a golden age of a thousand years of relative peace and prosperity. George's complete vision for the sequel trilogy involved an enemy that was now less imposing and using subterfuge, a story that explored more ancient mysteries and old Jedi lore rather than another Empire versus Rebels story. Disney just copied the original trilogy but with worse writing and worse acting. It's kinda crazy how much more soul Lucas's original version of the sequel trilogy has. It genuinely saddens me that we'll never see George's kino original vision for the sequel trilogy. The Star Wars galaxy is vast, containing countless worlds and countless beings. Even so, Star Wars in my eyes is ultimately the story of one man, one human, from that vast galaxy - Anakin Skywalker. Star Wars is the story of the life of Anakin Skywalker - his rise, his fall and his redemption. Star Wars is one film divided into six parts and, in my opinion, it is the greatest film of all time. Star Wars is one story divided into six episodes and, in my opinion, it is the most ambitious story ever put to film. Love doomed Anakin in the prequel trilogy and love saved Anakin in the original trilogy. The central message of Star Wars (if there is indeed any message) is that love conquers all - even the stars themselves. Star Wars teaches us that nobody is beyond redemption, not even Anakin Skywalker. We're all gonna make it, bro. And that's pure kino.

HAL9000 edits are by far the best versions of the prequels, especially episode 3
>>
>>223926541
40 year old gamergaters still despise the sequels, yeah. The idea that the normie majority are seething about black stormtroopers and mary sues is simply not true.
>>
>>223926842
It's a minor problem, but an easy one to notice. TPM made a bunch of major mistakes or questionable storytelling choices leading up to the point where Anakin's midochlorian count became a plot point. People were already subconsciously checking out, losing interest, etc. Then midichlorians was the last straw, so they fixate on that part, talking about how it demistifies the force and so on. Which isn't exactly wrong but the issues were actually a lot deeper.
>>
>>223926984
The sequels are garbage. The MCU assraped Star Wars because TFA and TLJ were such incompetent stories.

If the sequels were actually the normalfag popular movies you imply, the trilogy would have kicked off the SWCU as Lucasfilm had planned, and the franchise would still be the most lucrative film IP ever. But they failed. They fucked it up with some of the most absurdly terrible storytelling I've ever seen.

The prequels were not good movies, they have severe flaws but they still have a basic level of storytelling competence that is wholly absent from the sequels.

I've never cared for Star Wars and I think New Hope is the only one that is just okay and not terrible.
>>
>>223925644
I was just about to say this. The shots match because the camerawork in these films is like the one you'd see in a tampon commercial, same 3 shots every other scene.

If disney had any sense they'd just canonize these
>>
>>223925606

The prequels could have been great if someone had the balls to tell George Lucas "no".

That said, the prequels are still FAR better than the Disney sequels.
