Was Clémence Poésy truly the best choice to play Fleur Delacour?
>"A young woman was standing in the doorway, a woman of such breathtaking beauty that the room seemed to have become strangely airless. She was tall and willowy with long blonde hair and appeared to emanate a faint, silvery glow."
Could other actress have done a better job at capturing the otherworldly beauty of the Veela?
>>
Implying I read that fucking fag book for girls or give a shit about some description on a page. She was good and the movie was good, why ask these questions that only expose that you have never felt a woman’s touch ?

The director openly admitted to be Hermione's biggest simp. He nerfed all the female characters to make them less interesting (both visually and narratively). End of story.

And it shows, a shame because Fleur was really interesting.
>>
>>223926965
Well, yeah. But the real tragedy isn’t even that Fleur wasn’t portrayed the way she was in the books; it’s that many plot elements, character behaviors, and lines of dialogue just ended up being a bit absurd.

What I hated was that they gave some of Ron's scenes to Hermione so she ends up hypercompetent to the point you wonder why they need Harry and Ron at all, and at the same time Ron ends up looking like a bumbling idiot.
>>
>>223926627
She had two speaking lines I remember and was barely on screen so there wasnt anything to do better.
>>
>>223926627
they did a really shitty job with the Veela in the movies. in the books, they're supposed to be otherwordly beautiful. they glow golden light and any man in the vicinity can't help but stare. the movies just put a bunch of cute girls in a blue outfit and called it good.
>>
>>223927298
I admit the blue outfits looked really good but I wondered about the glow
>>
>>223927243
Yes. If not for the plot framework, the director would have turned Hermione into a total Mary Sue with a couple of sycophants in tow.

I actually get the impression that he hated Ron. Even in the early films, there are changes where Ron is portrayed as either dim-witted or pointlessly mean-spirited (like in the first movie, during class, when he agrees with Snape’s remark about Hermione). At other times, they turn him into a clown, stripping away his contributions to the team as someone who grown up in magic worls. Like, for instance, having him vomit slugs instead of him being the one to explain the term "Mudblood."
>>
>>223927366
There's been 4 directors for the 8 movies, and pretty much all of them decided to make Ron dumber.
>>
>>223927438
But Ron was good at chess one time. He's vital to this team.

Based director dabbing on the soulless gingers
>>
>>223927366
It's ridiculous. Ron in the books is very street smart and often figures things out through pure common sense before Harry or Hermione do.
>>223926627
She did a good job with what little screen time she actually had. Certainly had the right air of stern elegance about her.
On another note those uniforms still look excellent, one of the best costume designs in the whole series. Exactly how you'd imagine a beautiful witch from the French mountains to dress.

I think it all started with the first film turned Ron into a dumber and more unpleasant character, and the subsequent films leaned into this established portrayal. I remember Rowling saying in an interview somewhere that many readers preferred Ron over Hermione for fairly obvious reasons, so the film corrected this book "flaw."

I think Alfonso Cuarón was the only one who tried to show even a little bit of leniency toward Ron (even given how he’d already been characterized). which is probably why he only stayed on for one film.

David Yates, meanwhile, was actively shipped Harry/Hermione in his head, which often made Ron come across as some thick-headed bastard. And Ginny even more pathetic.

How can french girls compete with perfection
>>
>>223929316
Why is there someone in every thread complaining about women in movies being too hot?
>>
>>223929433
1. In the HP movies, she isn’t a woman; she’s a child.
2. Turning her into "miss perfection" breaks the narrative. She and others starts behaving unnaturally and the script contradicts what’s on screen.
>>
>>223929521
1. The child is too hot?
2. Casting Watson != turning her into miss perfection.

>Casting Watson = breaking the character

a. She is the most beautiful girl on screen all the time, yet the other characters often treat her like an unkempt, nerdy outcast.
b). Unlike in the movie, the "halo effect" is in full swing in reality. The creators elevate her, even reassigning lines and actions that belonged to other characters (primarily Ron) to her, just so she can appear on screen more often.
3. She becomes so idealized that she ends up overshadowing all the other characters.

Terrible. Just write "a strange airlessness came over the room" or whatever (I don't think strange is a good word here, it makes me think she smells bad)
You never want to write "seemed to have become." Just say what is fucking happening without so many qualifiers

That'd be because hermione is retarded bitch up till like book 6 when Harry and Ron just start kind of ignoring her or because rowling kind of got tired of it and started skipping writing out all of the nagging she would do. The movies take almost all of Ron's moments and hand them over to hermione making you wonder why Ron even exists.
>>
>>223932298
no, that was because rowling was being petty because the child playing the character was too pretty to be based on a childhood bully of her
