No, you'd make fun of me
>>223926775I've had religious experiences watching ET, Sherlock Jr, and It's a Wonderful Life, great picks!Random reccs that came to mind are Love Streams and Body Double if you haven't seen em! Also if you have any sympathy to anime, I gotta recc His and Her Circumstances to anyone because that series changed my life.>>223926881Bro if u saw the charts I have posted sympathetic responses to in the past you wouldn't think that
>>223926904Okey
>>223927397Castle in the Sky & Shin Godzilla are awesome, also I rewatched The Abyss a bit ago and had a great time. Have you seen Godzilla vs Biollante? I saw that on the big screen a bit ago and there's something about the way that movie looks that's so comfy to me. Some random reccs you may dig are Zombi 2, and also if you haven't seen Shin Ultraman that movie is so wonderful to me.
>>223927459Godzilla vs. Biollante is still on my watchlist. As are several other classic Godzilla filmsSomething about Ultraman is a turnoff for me. I'm not sure whatWill check out Zombi 2, thank you
>>223927624Ultraman has the goofy costume and everything and is a bit smaller-scale than Godzilla, but I found the characters and story it develops really engrossing. It's surprisingly more character-based and surprisingly philosophical than Shin Godzilla and it gets me weirdly emotional. If you can overcome the turnoff it might hit for you! I hope you enjoy the other two if you get the chance to check em out!

>>223928185I love Scanner Darklyyy, if you haven't seen Waking Life it's a really great companion feature. You also might get a kick outta Cosmopolis if you haven't seen it
>>223926706>mezzofortreput in Brazillian Big Booty Bitches volume 12 (1997) too
My favorite Japanese movies.
>>223928240Too little time, too many movies. I'll add it to my watchlist. There are also books and videogames. Not even going to mention working, traveling and spending time on the family.
>>2239282881) Epic joke, 2) I could literally talk your ear off about how Umetsu uses the porno sequences to really insane discomforting effect in his stuff around this era, bro's on a whole nother wavelength>>223928289If you haven't seen Four Season: Utopiano, that shit's on Youtube and blew my mind>>223928305Facts
final bump
Can't go wrong with any of these.
>>223929545Rewatching Unforgiven a bit ago blew my mind all over again, Eastwood is on somethin else. If you haven't seen Boudu Saved from Drowning that film feels impossibly freewheeling and lively for 1932.>>223929628If you haven't seen Peking Opera Blues I get the sense you'd enjoy it
>>223929834>If you haven't seen Peking Opera Blues I get the sense you'd enjoy itWill check it out. Thanks.
>>223930028If you want a really cool time, pick any sorta cool dark ambient or whatever album you want and watch Page of Madness if you haven't seen it. That movie feels impossibly freewheeling and exciting for an old silent film, and if you want more insight into how insane it is that it exists, I'd highly recc Aaron Gerow's monograph about the film which goes deep into its whole production.>>223930781Hope you dig!
>>223930827Wild selection!!!! I've always meant to check out Sunset Limited. If you haven't seen What Happened Was I'd highly recc it, and also I think you'd get a kick outta Black and White by James Toback.
>>223930867Thanks! I will watch these movies!
>>223926706Seen Virgin Punk yet?
>>223931184I hope you dig em! What Happened Was is just such a pure masterpiece that when I saw it I was shocked it isn't talked about in like day 1 of film writing. Black and White is from a really fascinating uncanny scattershot era of Toback's career, but I love it so much cause it feels like a dude just exploring every impulse he has with a broad topic (plus he has some of the best editing sense of any director I can think of)>>223932362I did before i'd seen anything else by Umetsu and was so baffled by why someone would make it (and seem insanely dedicated to it in the accompanying doc) that me and a bud binged his entire filmography chronologically and it was strangely the most enriching artistic experience I've had in years. His "Presence" short in Robot Carnival is such a perfect codifier for his whole sensibility and every subsequent work builds on the previous ones in mindblowing ways. He's (rightfully) repped so much as having incredible animation, but honestly I think as a writer he is incredibly ingenious and striking (like an easy example is the black hole desolation of the sexual violence that runs through Kite being brought into even sharper contrast with the slackstick over-to-top-ness of Mezzo Forte). Honestly revisiting Virgin Punk with this context did make it way cooler to me, but I actually think it's the first time he seemed to be taking a step backwards instead of leaping forwards (Wizard Barristers I even think is a misunderstood mindblower, there's a pure exploratory joy in there that I rarely see replicated in anything else). But his visual imagination is strong as ever and there's still breathtaking sequences. I hope bro can continue making cool shit.
>>223926881Be brave, anon. Its hard to put yourself out there to be ridiculed but its worth it. Dont close yourself off because others don't see your shine.
>>223928289There was an anime chart that had a servian animated movie i had been looking for a decade since I watched it but I couldnt remember the title. Technotise: edit and I was the title after some kind anon on reminding me of the name. The european setting and the overboard scene was all that I remembered about it, in case anyone else is looking for it or if the anon that told me before I could thank him.
