I loved archer but it's one of those shows where I find it genuinely difficult to remember what happened when and in what season because of how nonsensical the plotline gets (especially the coma stuff). When I try and think back to it, besides a few iconic moments it's just this vague jumble of archer doing archer shit, lana doing lana shit, and everything just being kind of unhinged. Anyone know what I mean?

It went to complete shit after he went in the coma. The first few seasons were good, but later seasons but nothing but callback references to jokes they made before. Nothing new. I watched the season where he came out of the coma a few years back and it did not get better. Don't know or care if they kept going after that.

First season was pretty good, but it quickly turned into him being 100% incompetent and retarded, which just wasn't fun to watch.

That was mainly the first season. It rapidly stops being the case as the show goes on.
The waterboarding scene was a good example. It should have just had him saying "that's it?" and calling them a bunch of pussies, instead of acting like a rape victim.

A good example of the opposite of what I describe btw would be something like mad men or succession where I can very easily remember what happened and in what sequence because the plot is more coherent, which makes sense given archer's more or less a sitcom whereas those are both prestige narratives
