In retrospect, is it really impossible to adapt?
>>223927662NoVillenueve just sucks and is afraid of color and humanity
I think the current movies prove that it's POSSIBLE but they still fall short. I think the pieces are there but it holds itself back in a lot of ways. I can imagine a truly perfect adaptation that uses the aesthetics and tone of the current films but is instead an HBO series and stays closer to the source material. I'd also say for them to go into the adaptation with the intention of getting all the way to Chapterhouse. Use Princess Irulan as a narrator to explain higher concept stuff like in the books. Between episodes have her reading from one of her novels.
>>223927760Would have probably surpassed Game of Thrones for them
>>223927662all the three adaptations are good and do the book justice and then some
>>223927662If Lynch had the resources and room to breathe that Villenueve got, we'd already have the perfect adaption.
>>223927662The book just sucks and needs an extra work from the director to get it right>close to zero world building>no depictions of warfare>technology? What technology?>gigantic time skip over anything interestingLawrence of Arabia but 3/4 of the movie is cut out and barely mentioned in a random talk, that's Frank Herbert's Dune.
