What is your thought process when choosing a film to watch?
Whatever the vibe at the moment
>>223928925ChatGPT picks one for me.
if I feel like murdering I watch something like Zodiac
I just pick thrillers from 1960-1989
>>223928925I won’t watch girlbossery or raceswappery
>>223928925This is what movies were supposed to be, you can't trust them now because every other movie is trying to be subversive
>>223928925I have a backlog of movies that keep getting referenced, I take a loo at that list whenever I want to watch consume some content and decide what I am in the mood for
>>223929082right, if you pick something random that's made after 2010 you're guaranteed to have some bullshit that gets hard to ignore when that same shit is in completely different movies
>>223928925i choose whatever looks entertaining. something along the lines of death race or some liam neeson movie.
>>223928925Based old man
anyone who replied to this thread is a larping faggot gay retard just like that x cuck that posted random totally true information about his family onlineyou don't even watch movies you just gossip about them like a woman
>black & white Japanese movies>anime movies made before 2014>American movies made before 2008>French movies made before 1999>soviet movies>black & white Disney cartoons>Fleischer Studios ouvre
>>223929462>no women dares to approach me closer than 50 feet
>Was it made after the mid 2005 -> Don't watch>Was it made between the year 2000 and 2005 -> check how it's like and how it looks to decide>Was it made in the 80's or early 90's -> WatchIt's a simple formula really, works every time
>>223928925Isn't this everyone's dad? I remember fast forwarding through commercials and him going back if he caught a glimpse of a trailer with a gun in it.Boomers are such simple creatures.
>>2239289254chan post, which is a screenshot of a reddit post of a twitter post. when did this place become the gutter of the internet? shit rolls down hill and this place was the shit top hill
>>223929514That's a good thing
I check IMDB's parental guide and watch movies with nudity and sex in it
>>223929293>you don't even watch movies you just gossip about them like a womanand what is wrong with that
I have hundreds ready to watch and I'll just wait till fotm drops and watch that instead. All my backlogue is either arthouse, foreign or both and I just want to watch action/thriller most of the time.

>>223929528this guy finished high school in 2005>>223929462this around 2008>>223929127and this around 2010
>>223928925I use imdb advanced search to find something i'm interested in. I tick the box that hides all the shit i've already seen so it only spits out stuff i've never watched before.
>>223929835*Oh and you can filter out Indian movies. I do that too.
>A long time ago Jorge Luis Borges wrote that there are only four stories that are told and re-told: the siege of the city, the return home, the quest, and the (self-) sacrifice of God. It is notable that the same story could he placed into different categories by different viewers: what is a quest/return home for Theseus is a brutal God’s sacrifice for Minotaur.
I think about the last film that I watched, and then I decide whether I want to watch something similar to that movie or something different.
>>223928925>do i want to do something else at the same time>have i seen it>how do i want to feel afterward>director>cast>genre

>>223928925>do I care for the premise>do I have time for it nowThat's about it
I just go to YouTube’s free movie list. It’s an A to Z of movies I never got around to seeing.
>10,000+ movies/tv on the backlog>Browse for something to watch for 3 hours>End up just rewatching From Beyond, Easy Rider or Treasure of the Sierra Madre
whatever I see a lot of posts on /tv/ about
>>223928925I cant stop chuckling at this, and yah, I think I might go on an action binge and follow this old guy's example
>>223929557What if they are on to something? Like just treat life like you are a hero in an action film.
>>223928925What will best compliment shitposting on /tv/ from my phone.

>>2239289251. Does the movie concept or genre appeal to me. I tend to watch certain genres more than others, like sci fy, horror, drama, thriller, mystery, action, animated. I don't watch some genres like romance, musicals, westerns, documentaries.2. Does it have great reviews? I don't have time to watch slop. I will very rarely watch a movie with less than 75% on rotten tomatoes. Only if something about the movie really peaks my interest, do i settle for a 60-75% rotten tomatoes movie. If a movie has over 90% on rotten tomatoes, it may get me to watch a genre i don't normally watch, like the you can see everything documentary movie that has like 98% on rotten tomatoes. This doesn't mean i let review scores form my opinion, sometimes I watch movies like 2001 space odyssey or attack the block that I think are an absolute snoozefest or mediocre, sometimes I watch movies like anchorman, dumb and dumber, con air, or wanted with james mcavoy that I think are obvious 10/10 movies
>>223933391>I will very rarely watch a movie with less than 75% on rotten tomatoesholy cattle
my boomer dad basically keeps watching the same 50-100 films over and over
>>223933506Wow, thats so weird...
>>223933391>peaks my interest>i heard a word and don't know how to spell itThis is a pretentious faggot.
>>223928925I don’t watch tv or films
>>223929738Makes sense. You’re a pathetic little faggot.
>>223933506Your boomer dad is a pretty cool guy. Eh watches mvoies and doesn't afraid of anything.
>>223928925Alright. Im gonna try this. I pulled Commando
>>223933506Movies are like people, who gives a fuck if you know more than 50-100 of them
>>223933915>I pulled CommandoI'm going commando, too. I'm out there, anon, and I'm loving every minute of it!

>>223928925if i don't already know what i want to watch, i sort my letterboxed watchlist by duration (ascending), possibly filter by genre, then pick the first thing that looks good.i add things to the watch list from word of mouth, high metacritic score, or if i encounter it when researching a topic i'm interested in such as one-shot films. i filter out most romances and lgbt stuff but otherwise if it meets those criteria i'll add it to the list.
>>223933506honestly i get itthe older get the less interested i am in digging through all the garbage piles to find the gems, i just wanna rewatch sopranos or something
>>223935154how is this subversive
I try to mix it up from the routine. If I watched a genre I go for another. If I saw a recent movie, I pick a classic that was underrated. Sometimes I rewatch from my childhood and try to reminisce where I was when I first watched it.
>>223931237https://youtu.be/x5ZIyfY14T4Add this to your list
>>223928925my dad would do this, only he'd watch the first hour intently, then fall asleep, wake up during the end credits, and say the movie was pretty good.
Now we're talking.
>>223929576>when did this place become the gutter of the internet?>he asks on 4chanHow fucking new are you?
My dad just watches AI slop on Facebook or twitter or something. I don't see what it is but it's the driest blandest sounding fantasy trash in the world.
>>223935169I always wonder, how do spiritual(and literal) homofaggots who believe this trash reconcile it with the fact basically EVERYONE prefers stuff made prior to the Great Awokening, even GenZ(alpha don't count since they're brainrotted by shortform content and hate anything that requires them to focus for more than ten seconds continuously).
>>223936680It's partially true, though. Your teenage years are generally YOUR era, and most people take a while to accept things outside of it.My mom listens to 50s doo wop shit constantly because earlier and later music is shit she can't tolerate. I was a little more accepting of previous culture as a kid, since I watched old movies my dad liked and that allowed me to see that old people stuff was cool, too.Even today, social media is clogged with "REMEMBER THE 80s??????????????" posts that show David Bowie or the Lamborghini Countach.
>>223928925My dad gives me recommendations. He's retired and spends a lot of time watching movies so he filters out all but the kino for me.
