Where did the idea that leftists were the only ones who made good art come from? This was the most hollow, cliché garbage with.

Essentially a hipster Narnia/Labrinth ripoff with a white woman who wants to kill a baby

>Where did the idea that leftists were the only ones who made good art come from?
the empirical reality that we all share
>>
Because all good art criticizes or pushes a boundary, and transgression is purely a leftist feat.
>>
>>223929957
>white woman who wants to kill a baby
This IS a leftist film.
>>
>>223930010
Actually the white woman is meant to be the villain.
>>
>>223930003
Yet the best fantasy writers of all time are still conservative.
>>
>>223929957
Travis Knight isn't particularly political and the book was written by some literally who indie musician and his wife with no "political positions" segments in their Wikipedia profiles. I would say this is just normalfag core not left / right. And the woman who wants to kill a baby is a villain anon.
>>
>>223930091
It was clearly made by leftists whether or not it was political. The Portland sequence practically made it look like some gay leftists utopia
>>
>>223930124
Anon.... that's just how Portland looks.

99% of all art created was made by people who would be considered right wing by todays standards

Portland's right wing
>>
>>223930217
That's kinda because being left wing by modern standards was conceptually impossible for most of history.

There was nothing political at all about the flick in OP you deranged /pol/troons.

I'm a chud. As soon as they mention they/them pronouns in regards to a three year old boy, show dudes kissing and have the parents a bunch of hipster fags it gets a little political for me

This movie gives me the sense they were so focused on the visuals they forgot the story part and just did the bare minimum to justify the visuals. Paranorman and Caroline had actual personality to them.

The actual issue is it's using the aesthetic and feeling of Portland when it was majority white yet inserting browns everywhere and the bandit king and all of those characters are white in the book, as is Prues mom. In fact the movie differs massively from the book. You fucking retards. This is yet another "let's make a red headed character a black" movie
>>

unfortunately my dear troon, problematic white men proved to be load-bearing

Decent animation but I don't want to give money to Portlanders who actively wish White people were all dead or slaves to their ideology.

What kind of mongoloid does all of zero research into a movie that is literally not rated for children before taking their children to it only to be outraged that they’re so retarded that they took them to a movie that isn’t for kids? It’s very clearly not a little kids movie, that’s obvious from first glance.
>>
>>223929957
The studio is owned by the child or a right wing billionaire who is a stop motion autist. All the guy cares about is making very pretty stop motion movies. I'm not sure he has a political ideology beyond stop and motion.

Silent majority. A lot of artists used to have independent thoughts and a lot of people in general didn't talk politics in public. Now there's the whole pressure of using your platform or whatever and if you don't say what the loudest group wants to hear they'll try to destroy you in the public eye, even if that means you don't say anything at all. It's all bullshit, I just want to watch movies that are interesting.

I dunno maybe Jeremy Jahns who was shocked at how hardcore it was too? This dude is a 2 million subscribed movie critic and got surprised, what will a parent do.

The movie just looks like a sequel to Coraline and supposedly this is one of the most violent stop motion if not THE most violent movie of all time.

Counterpoint: Kids can handle this sort of things and we are overly sensitive to what should and shouldn't be in a kids movie. This isn't ideological political stuff this is basic Grimms Fairytale type content

This

the novel was made by an mkultra multi-generational satanist so its going to be riddled with masonic easter eggs and social engineering propaganda

Outside of that. The quality of the stop motion was quite good.
>>
>>223929957
>leftists, white woman, etc
This is a really miserable way to look at art, or at almost anything for that matter. I enjoy lots of things that were created by people who I don't align with politically/socially.
Wildwood is a deeply beautiful and soulful and special film. It's also heavily flawed but it's so stunning and engrossing that I didn't care at all about those flaws until well after leaving the cinema.

>>223932078
>>223932229
>>223932932
It's genuinely inappropriate for young children, and honestly the advertising and art style look so kid-friendly that I can easily understand people missing the age rating and making a mistake.
Older kids are going to love it and I hope their parents aren't too overprotective these days. I know it would have blown my fuckin mind at that kind of age, would have been my favourite movie for years.
>>
>>223933608
>I enjoy lots of things that were created by people who I don't align with politically/socially.
No you don't
>>
>>223933639
First examples that come to my head...
I love the song "Borders" by MIA even though I believe in the exact opposite of its message (I want drastically reduced immigration and a complete freeze on accepting refugees). I love Ender's Game even though Orson Scott Card is a miserable hateful asshole.
>>
>>223930064
And who would they be?
>>
>>223932881
>animated film for kids
False logic to assume that just because it's animated that it's made for kids. It's Sausage Party all over again, and many other such cases prior as well. I genuinely believe that people who ignorantly take their kids to age inappropriate things are terrible parents.

It's nothing like Sausage Party. For long parts of its runtime it's actually like any kids adventure movie, complete with slapstick humour and awkward sidekick. There's no sexual content and no swearing except for the bitch joke.
But when it does get violent or heavy, it doesn't fuck around and goes much further than anything disney/pixar/dreamworks would consider. It's an interesting mix that I don't think I've seen before
>>

This is not true.
Its only based on the first book.
In the second book, curtis stayed behind and became a bandit, and some industralists from the real world tried to conquer the woods.
In the third book some dude tried to revive the queen or something and they had to revive her boy first to defeat her, I forget.
