Watched this last night. This is a film that could really use a remake. Excellent concept that could be executed better. Not a bad film, but doesn't achieve its full potential either. Really wish we could start remaking movies like this instead of remaking classics that don't need it.
>>223935080I like this sequence
>>223935080i disagree, it holds up 20 years later, the only benefit a remake would provide is better effects.
>>223935093Yeah, that was pretty rad. A lot of cool scenes in it, honestly. >>223935115I think it needs a better script, better characterization and better casting. I also don't really like how the vampires look and feel, though I'm not exactly sure how I'd change them. I just don't like how it feels very "of the era" and edgy. I also think it's tonally a little bit muddled. Seems like it wants to be taken seriously but then gets a little too silly for that at times. I actually don't think the effects would improve at all if it was remade today unless they decided to use more practical effects.

The Scottish guy also has a twin brother who's a vampire hunter and Jeb turns green and injects his wife with Re-Animator slime and she does too, and they control an army of zombies who prepare for a big group battle against the vampire hunters and then the movie ends with a To Be Continued card, lmfao. I thought it was fine, bordering on good. My overall thoughts are conflicted between thinking this didn't go hard enough to this being an acceptable origin story with a horror twist for a simple Batman villain.I was a bit surprised they committed to the more fantastical aspects of Clayface's abilities from the jump and the body horror elements validated the whole movie. Also, the movie was definitely in-line with most horror schlock in how after the final kill, the movie just decides to end. A pale imitation of its influences.

>>223936943Yeah I'm adding this alongside Castle Freak to the dangerously underrated list
>>223936969it ends with everyone just giving up, lol
>>223936943standards used to be very, very different. In the Mouth of Madness was considered a b-movie when it came out.
>>223936330Here ya go anon. A nice blurry photo.
>The BurbsIs this a horror movie
>>223937015its my favorite horror movie
>>223937015It's in that gray area
>>223937003
>>223937049is that Captain Beefheart
Watching Red Dragon
>>223937059have fun
Finally finished Ginger Snaps. Over all a fun time, although HOLY SHIT did it drag towards the end. I did enjoy Ginger in her penultimate werewolf form, though.Werewolf Movie #3: Cursed. Watching the R-rated version for the first time, and it's already a bit bloodier than I remember.>>223936954>from the producer of SpookiesCount me in.
i watched the hatchet trilogy while doing some other stuff. the first is a solid little slasher/monster movie. the sequels drop off.
Weak direction and the middle is pretty sparse, but great lead actor/character and the final act has some good action
>>223935917>>223935945>>223935956>>223935982>>223936546Okay I'm watching it, will report back
>>223937086Some of the kills in Hatchet 2 are pretty solid, but I literally remember nothing about the 3rd. I remember the fourth installment Victor Crowley being decent.
>>223936250I like how he's pointing at the moon and the wolf, like "See? Just like the title says."
>>223937049Shaggy NO
>>223937157hatchet 2 still has charm but that 3rd one is bad. the main chick is on a side quest the whole movie and none of the fodder is very interesting or does much of anything noteworthy. i do think its funny they keep writing that asian guy into the plot even though he dies almost every movie.
>>223937079>I did enjoy Ginger in her penultimate werewolf form, thoughIndeed
>>223937079>Count me in.
>>223936954spookies had producers?
>>223937157Nta but I loved all the Hatchets even with the fluctuations. They're so earnest about just being a fun brutal killathons
>>223937207You’re pathetic
>>223937207Imagine being a director and being able to make your favorite actress run around in her panties for days on end
>>223936928>>223936938also watch delicatessen. the movies he does with marc caro have a very interesting visual style.
>>223937079Ricci is a hot little number in this flick
>>223937250
>>223937289
The Reanimator sequels are fucking godawful, lmao
>>223937289She had surprisingly fat tits in Sleepy Hollow
>>223935080I want a remake of virus
>>223937313for me its when she did that biopic and showed her bewbs
>>223937337the creature effects, setting, and atmosphere almost save this thing
>>223937303>You know I think there's a monkey farm over in India
>>223937381a daring synthesis
>>223937337>>223937348I remember watching the Discovery Channel series Movie Magic, they featured behind the scenes footage of Virus a while before the film actually came out.https://youtu.be/hnHTn2ZJmGc?is=O0Kw3b2EDlIfadHv
Tomorrow is the full moon,You guys suggested:Dog Soldiers (2002)Ginger Snaps (2000)The Company of Wolves (1984)Wolf (1994)Bad Moon (1996)Cursed (2005)Werewolf: The Beast Among Us (2012)What should I pick, I only have time for one after work.
>>223937822Dog soldiers
>>223937337Gonna have to check that one out
>>223937822Dog Soldiers if you want sonething with balls, otherwise Ginger Snaps
>>223937822Dog Soldiers is high test kino
>>223937822Wolfen (1981)
>>223937822I think Ginger Snaps, or Company of Wolves.
>>223937421the practical effects are so good, really sad they got wasted on a bad movie. At least the toys were cool
Just finished House.I liked this MUCH more than the other Japanese horror films I've seen. I don't think it's a joke movie like the other anon said, it's very sincere and well made
>>223937827you could also watch deep rising for a double feature
>>223937876>I don't think it's a joke movie like the other anon said, it's very sincere and well made
>>223937906Yeah?I didn't say it wasn't silly
>>223937906yes that seems sincere and well made
>>223937876Glad you liked it anon. I can recommend Tetsuo, Kairo, Ringu, Audition and Cure as well for more kino J-horror.
>>223937876yeah it's whimsical, but ultimately people die. if you liked it, I recommend Cute Devil 1982 by the same director, it's highly, highly underrated.
>>223937822For the love of god, not Cursed
Any decent recent zombie movies?
Bake
>>223937822Dog Soldiers is my favorite of the ones I've seen here but it is more of an action movie, so if you aren't in for that I would say Ginger Snaps.
>>223937940>>223937941Thank you for the recommendations. I've seen Ringu and Audition and they were good but didn't really click for me, but I won't dismiss all J-horror.Tetsuo seems most interesting so I think I'll watch that next
>>223937977Dog Soldiers is equal parts horror and action. Action can be scary too.
>>223937965Got it
>>223938002aCtIoN cAn b3 sCaRy tO0You sound so stupid
>>223938002I suppose it could be, but Dog Soldiers is just so tacticool it's hard for me to associate it with horror too directly.
>>223938083>>223938083>>223938083>>223938083>>223938083>>223938083
>>223938001>I've seen Ringu and Audition and they were good but didn't really click for me, but I won't dismiss all J-horror.Don't neglect the older classics like Oni-Baba, Kwaidan, Godzilla, etc
>>223938095It's not like action is a foreign element in most horror movies despite what people think. Slasher movies and especially zombie and monster movies almost always have a number of scary action scenes in them even if most of them don't count as full blown action movies, and Dog Soldiers isn't exactly Die Hard in style and tone.
