What went so fucking wrong?
>>
Heath Ledger's death + the way they chose to end TDK with Batman taking the blame for Two-Face's murders backed them into a corner and they handled it in the worst possible way with Batman immediately retiring after the events of the last movie and jumping forward in time eight years. There's a lot more to it than that but this immediately sets the movie off on the wrong foot.

I like parts of it. I wouldn't call it a great movie since the climax is so awful but on the whole it's not that bad.

I actually kind of like this, but I understand why other people might not.

All the common Nolan critiques
>poor audio
>sloppy editing
>weird dialogue
>bad fight choreography

this movie has all those in spades. It's like a highlight reel of everything wrong with Nolan.

none of these are the problems the film has

These are all huge, objective problems with him and he hasn't tried to improve at all. Just pretty amazing. What other big director movies are plagued with basic shit like this and still remain at the top?

75% of the film is are memberberry shots of the previous two films, Plus Batman quitting TWICE stings.

If they did not have him be randomly injured with a cane at the beginning and introduced Selena Kyle in a competent way instead of randomly crammed in, and obviously fixed Nolan’s inability to successful sound mix over dialogue, it would be okay. The fact that you need to hear what the characters are saying in the first 45 minutes to understand anything happening at the climax of the third act. Typical Nolan-slop. Unironically Bane and the memes are the best part of the entire film. TDK was such a technically sound film in comparison, and it had plenty of issues of its own. The Gotham underground scene is taught in film schools for a reason and it’s because it was all pieces firing on all cylinders for a ~25 minute scene. TDKR was such a letdown in comparison just in pure ability to have a memorable scene.

Scorsese with his sloppy editing.

>If they did not have him be randomly injured with a cane at the beginning
so we just ignore the 2-3 story fall he takes in the previous film and pretend he walks it off? lol

Killing off Two face was pointless and lazy writing in TDK. Nolan could have easily set him up to be the villain along side Bane in the third act. Also Tom Hardy was a poor casting choice. Bane should have been black with real thugs and gangsters taking over Gotham, not some third world military.

Nolan doesn't know how to end his stories.
It's a repeating theme in all his works.

Nothing. Its the only good Nolan movie

Yeah. He's Batman.
>>223935875
I still remember being in the cinema and trying not to burst out laughing when I first heard Tom Hardy awkwardly mumbling OR PERHAPSH HE'SH WONDERING WHY YOU'D SHOOT A MAN. Shit was an absolutely ridiculous choice.

>>223934993
It is just so hard to take this movie seriously. I rewatched it a couple of years ago and could not stop laughing. Part of it is definitely 4chan's fault, but ultimately the blame lies with Nolan
>>
>>223934993
I was 12 when this came out and I was too scared to see it because I thought someone would shoot up the theater. I still haven't seen it besides the bane plane scene.

The ending shot of TDK is Batman running into the darkness away from the pursuing police with a closing monologue about him being a heroic figure destined to fight crime in the shadows
