Why does Obi-Wan have a red lightsaber????
>>
>>223938040
I'd go as far as to say it's the second best out of the six

No.

Posting this in every sci-fi/fantasy thread isn't fixing anything in your life anon. Grow up already.

Ok Obi-Wan, you hypocrite. Go Anakin, slice his fucking dick off

Why yes.

watch the RLM reviews

Would have been better with General Grevious. He's not a character, he's an action figure and his scenes are commercials for his toy line.

Anon, like you’ve been told over and over again, jj abrams spent the nutrek press junket all but waving a sign saying “I WANT TO DO STAR WARS” instead of actually talking about the bastardizations he made.

The phantom menace was the best children's sci fi ever made. Retard gen xers wanted to evaluate it as some adult focused political film.

I was the same age as Anakin when it came out. Every kid my age wanted to be him and grew rat tails. This made gen xers Seethe for some reason and they carried on the hatred.

All the prequels were good. And that's not even worth hindsight. I loved each and every one of them when I saw them in the theater. Don't get me wrong the quels are amazing(also saw in theater during the special edition release). I regret watching the postquels in theater. Those was bad
>>
>>223938040
>It's good, actually.
And so are The Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones.
>>
>>223938040
Attack of the clones is actually kino if you fast forward through all parts set on Naboo and Tatooine.
>anakin and Padme go into hiding
>they exit the movie and return only when attempting to rescue obiwan
The film turns into a fast paced obiwan centered conspiracy thriller.
>>
>>223938040
It's ok. Phantom Menace is kino sans a few Jar Jar scenes. Attack of the Clones is pretty bad, but has some interesting moments here and there.
>>
>>223941465
It's still funny to me how absolutley mind broken people on both sides got from the Prequel Reviews.
Neither party seemed to understand that their primary goal was to be entertaining satire, with one side taking them as verbatim genuine criticisms of the prequels without fault, or those who think they're way too harsh and critical of their favourite childhood films.
It's pretty funny even to today.
>>
>>223938040
Most overrated prequel.
>>223943484
TPM has some severe problems and it's definitely not limited to Jar Jar. But it's the best of the three prequels in most respects. Which is kind of a shame because quite possibly the biggest misstep, narrative wise, was spending an entire movie with Anakin as a 9 year old.
>>
>>223943507
>one side taking them as verbatim genuine criticisms of the prequels without fault
The issue with the Plinkett reviews, apart from the obvious satirical elements, is less that that they are "faulty" and more that they tend to be incomplete or lack perspective.
>>
>>223943749
People give jar jar shit, meanwhile giving c3p0 a pass somehow. C3p0 was just as annoying. But because he's og annoying, it's some how okay.
>>
>>223943507
only one side got mindbroken by the plinkett reviews
>>
>>223944186
>meanwhile giving c3p0 a pass somehow
No they didn't. The depiction of 3PO was one of my first major complaints about the movie. The idea that Anakin built him was just way over the line of contrivances for me. I'd always been willing to grant a lot of leeway with Star Wars but drawing all these connections between characters just undermined the galactic scale of the story way too much.

Also, 3PO is fussy, timid and talks with a prissy voice, while Jar-Jar is clumsy, dumb, and talks like a retarded person stereotype. Jar-Jar also has a much more prominent role in the story than 3PO.
>>
>>223943484
TPM is is literally pure kino if you get rid of the pod racing scene and cut out 90% of jarjars comic relief. ROTS is kino. The only one that sucked was AOTC. But everything on geonosis and obiwan on that planet with the clones and jango was kino.
>>
>>223945035
The pod race is the best set piece in the entire movie and nothing else even comes close.
>>
>>223944186
>>223945035
Anyway, to review some of the fucking problems with TPM

1. Child Anakin. We didn't need an entire movie with 9 year old Anakin. People complain about the Jar-Jar scenes but it's the Anakin scenes that suck more (except for the Pod Race, which is great). And even then he doesn't even show up until 30 minutes into the movie.

2. Boring central conflict. There's nothing inherently wrong with a trade dispute or political intrigue but the execution is clumsy and disappointing. Hard to really believe the one trade dispute and Padme calling for no confidence is all it took for Sheev to take power. It's not a compelling storyline, it just kind of happens.

3. The "mirror of ROTJ" story structure is a very poor fit. The big multi-threaded battle works great in ROTJ, as the ultimate climax of the original trilogy and the big finale for all the characters and the final downfall of the Empire. In TPM it's overkill, poorly aligned with actual stakes and character development. The two major combat portions are pretty boring, with Jar-Jar bumbling around on the surface and Anakin doing spin moves in space. The space part is the worst by far, with Anakin accidentally winning the entire thing by crash landing, hitting the wrong button by accident, and blowing up the control ship. The palace infiltration is fine but unremarkable beyond the fantastic visuals. The only real interesting part is the lightsaber duel where Qui-Gon gets wasted.

>>223938040
no but easily the best prequel and blows the the sequels out of the water

WHY YELLOW THERE LE HECKIN GENERALINO KENOBICHUNGUS!

Why was Palpatine gaining a scary henchman supposed to spell total doom for the galaxy? I get Vader was a powerful dark force user but what does that have to do with running an empire?

Prequel haters (weak, insecure, pathetic) are never gonna convince prequel lovers (based, correct) and vice versa, so why the incessant threads about it?
>>
>>223945035
No, it's a dreadfully boring slog with two good scenes. It's actually impressive how dull it is, considering how much happens and how many new characters are introduced. When my friend decided to get into SW and watch both trilogies together, we opted to skip TPM and I just filled him in with some context.
>>
>>223946067
There are always a handful of people in between interested to see the solid, insightful, correct points made by prequel critics while being amused by the the pathetic, incoherent, irrational copes from people like you who can't just accept The Prequels for the mixed bag they really are.

If it was a childrens movie then why the fuck was the plot about a taxation dispute. Phantom Menace, and the prequels as a whole, lack any sort of a consistent tone. It's annoying to adults for because of characters like Jar Jar, young anakin, boring pacing and terrible dialogue. It's bad for kids because there's long periods without action and the plot is about a tax dispute. Phantom Menace is legitimately like a 3/10. It isn't a 1 or 2 but it's not really good enough to be a 4 or a 5 either.

nta but show me the rule where it says a kid's film can't have political themes in it

The rule is:
Kids aren't into tax disputes
okay great
>>
Yup. Best in the whole trilogy.
