What was the point of this scene?

Something about the male gays I think

Did Americans really spend the summer at camp in the 80s

The ones around me only offered week-long stays.

It’s still a thing but exclusively rich white people do it. Fancy private colleges run summer camps in order to onboard future applicants.

Her ass is surprisingly fat for the time. When she skinny dips, she has a modern fit girl ass.

Not everyone did but it was common enough that when there was a movie about it, no one was confused about the concept.

The upper middle class nerds all went to Space Camp when I was a kid. There was also computer camp but I never met anyone who actually went to one of those.

Clearly not, because then you'd be attracted to him.

all these counselors tease each other all in good fun in various ways. it's about having fun even though it's part of their job training. more akin to a vacation. there are many scenes to demonstrate camaraderie among the group, and honestly it's kinda heartwarming, which is the point. it's more horrific when they're slain. these kinds of people don't really exist anymore. but that fine spherical ass needs to be harshly spanked to redden the cheeks, and elicit her delicious outcries

It's a boomer holdover, something they remember as kids in the 50s and 60s that they were constantly referencing in the media they were producing. The 50s and 60s were to the 80s and 90s what the 80s and 90s are to now. I have no clue what will be referenced 20-30 years from now, because 00s culture was basically just 90s Jr with shittier music, and then everything just kind of sputtered and stopped in the 2010s.
