It also kinda codified the flapper archetype later on and is often invoked as a reference to that whole social movement rather than just the icon that she was.For quite a while just saying "Lulu" would be enough to communicate a whole range of associations for people, not too different from how "Marilyn" stood for another star and archetype from the 50s onwards. >>223946612All bad besides for the Worst Person in the World, but Oslo, August 31st is the only halfway decent film that Joachim Trier has produced. The worst film that she mentioned is by far Noah Baumbach’s Frances Ha. Noah Baumbach is probably one of the worst living directors to ever grain any sort of critical acclaim. The Strokes were cool when you were younger, but looking back at their music, I’m not sure what I saw in them.

>>223948488The Strokes’ newest album was garbage; the only half-decent song was the one where Casablancas trolls everyone who he thinks has copied him. I blame Rick Rubin for taking them down this path.

Nevermind is actually one of the greatest rock albums of all time, for sure a top 5 alt rock album. In Utero and MTV Unplugged are also god tier, but not on the same level. Bleach is decent. Really, Nirvana never released anything bad, not even a bad song, a bad demo. Even the outsider Frusciante-esque shit Cobain was recording at the end of his life like Doremi was great.

Making a movie from the perspective of a pedophile could be interesting if you’re a good writer, like Vladimir Nabokov, but unfortunately Schrader views the perpetuation of sexual assault/abuse as a mere mistake and not a deliberate act of selfishness and cruelty. The smooth here. I watch a couple of Egger flics over last week, VVITCH and his Nosferatu. Watching these almost back to back was shocking. The lighting in VVitch was spectacular, while, Nosferatu fell for every modern color grading meme. Made all the worse having recently watched Herzog's version. It makes everything look fake, but im sure not even having looked it up, that everything Eggers does is on sight and practical. Why all this effort just to make it look like cgi slop? Why make Skarsgard put on all that make up to look like golum? I am a half pleb but film is so dreamy, i like it.You see no solution? Really?>>223964073Grim ngl...I am the youngest in a general again, after so long.
Your kinobrain doesn't fully develop until you're 55.
>>223964178>You think AI slop will be accepted? It already is by a lot of normies and boomers.
So much for tears, so much for these long and wasted years.
>>223964128>Maybe, but the highs were so much higher.I agree, but I think the idea that you're only a passive watcher of cinema must change. People need to demand quality kino or nothing will change. I send so many negative reviews on movie sites and people constantly want to force this positive faux happiness on me to the things which they "like"... I hate the modern era, it's all just so fascistic, people can't take a different opinion and they want to force everyone to think the same way as they do. It might be paid shills, but I think a way to change kino is to just voice our opinions without self censoring to please the thought police...
>>223964233It's one thing as it's own content, social media memes and shitposting but I mean, no youtuber movie was actually successful nor good, no streamer and no youtuber or social media personality, no matter their numbers made it. that shit its forgotten, china had some ai movie release lately, it didnt work out, flopped.
>>223964233>BoomersWell, I don't wanna be mean, but the door is that way and it's opening, soon enough there will be none left.I worry more about people younger than me, gen alpha kids growing up that shit, I don't know. It can't be good. Hopefully they don't start wanting to see fruitdramas on the big screen then that's, just pull the trigger and save us all the indignity
>>223964178>You think AI slop will be accepted? It already is. The zoomer audience is embracing it. Vibe-coding has already infested the software "industry", with some of the more retarded companies stopping to hire actual programmers. Academia is collapsing because students have LLMs write their essays or do their science homework rather than trying to understand the course material. And because AI companies have started flooding the mathematics community with extremely low-effort proofs that now need to be checked by actual intelligent people and mostly turn out to be flawed, if not entirely wrong. And Hollywood studios have been about cost-cutting. Just imagine how quickly they're going to start using AI once it gets to a level that comes somewhat close to handmade CG effects for less energy consumption.>You see no solution?Well, we won't get rid of it. Best we can hope is that the bubble bursts sooner rather than later.
People won't go see AI movies at theaters because AI has an air of cheapness around it. Anyone can generate clips. It's like paying to see TikTok videos in a movie theater. Normies will continue to look at AI videos on their phones and that's that.
>>223964346Yeah but there are consequences when using those things in the real world. Military AI, you'd think the top of the line stuff fucked up a lot in Iran, it fuck ups a lot everywhere the way they use it. It might be a scapegoat and factored in but still.Competency crisis mixed with this can't be good but it might lead to a huge backlash against it, I mean AI or students using AI that go on to fuck up in a big way, engineering, construction, healthcare, etc. That's a thing, no? You would hope there's enough people left that do things the right way. I am not a saint, I have used and use claude for things but it really isn't perfect and the more you know the more you can see it.
>>223964358M3G4N 2.0 had some parts which I'm pretty certain were AI gen'd (they were pretty damn great).
>>223964338>>223964399I do believe the youngest gen alpha will eventually rebel against AI, they will think it's "zoomer cringe" and reject it.
>>223964399>AI or students using AI that go on to fuck up in a big way, engineering, construction, healthcare, etc. It's going to happen, but at that point it'll likely already be to late.
>>223964091Which Walker joint is that video from?
>>223964851It's an upcoming one that Tsai just finished shooting in Jeonju, Korea a few weeks ago.
>The 11th Walker film, Dust, screened at the Busan International Film Festival. Someone in the audience asked me, “Does the Walker series no longer need an audience?” For a moment, I didn’t know how to answer. Perhaps it doesn’t need you. But there are others, aren’t there?
Keep walking. Johnnie Walker.
You’ll Never Walk Alone

newfags unironically entertaining a discussion with Gio
Film is about infusion, not about detail.
Wichita (1955)
intravenous infusion of oneiric baroque maximalist aesthetics
I don't get depressed from how shitty cinema is, I just get pissed and bored. Let's continue burning Paris.
who is gio?
We're all Gio here.
>>223967295Another forced concept from the usual suspects.
who are the usual suspects?
>>223967258On that interview with Pedro Costa I posted in the other thread he mentions being particularly inspired by that film and the scene where a kid dies.
Hands status?
>>223967404Yeah, I watched that video beginning to end. Thanks.
>>223967413Washed.
>>223967377The ones who convinced the world that the devil doesn't exist.
Shoes status?
Whose taste was most patrish? I actually bought a bottle of Chypre because of this image. It’s on its way in the mail now.
>>223967404Costa likes scenes of dead kids, he mentioned the one from The River too once.
>>223967505Do most dudes wear cologne? I only put on deodorant and that's it, and even then it's a very mild organic vanilla bullshit one. Hate perfume.
>>223967556It's a thing to do if you're feeling a bit fruity.
>>223967413Sparkly clean. he's gone, jim
>>223964358Capeshit has looked cheap since day one and it still makes a gorillion dollars and wrecked the medium of film. I like AI because it takes the slop people were already watching and takes it to a comical extreme.
>>223967556Most men probably just wear deodorant but also most men dont watch the old time movie actors mentioned in that image which is just why I thought to ask that question here.
>>223967505I am the jean dean of this time, you better learn fucker!!!!!!
>>223967609No, capeshit looks expensive. That is money on screen. That's the look of expensive cinema nowadays. And expensive looks like shit. But people only care about the money. Budgets and box office. My capeflick made more money than your capeflick, you know the dance.
Nothing like the smell of synthetic aroma compounds in the morning.

I am the official authority on normalfaggots they will accept AI in movies. The supersloppers, the capeshitters, the romcommies, the slavery movie seers, the insert le black lady into old concept witnessers, the nolanplebs, the 1980s rehash cucks, ALL will eventually accept the firehose of AI absolutely blasting into their eyes
Anything that wasn't photographed doesn't belong in a film.
>>223967556No, just dudes with above average hygiene or high status. I do it ocassionally, and I wear women's deodorant. Bitches love it.
>>223967670:(
>>223967789It can't be....
ai is a natural evolution of the medium
>>223967867AI is automated animation, no matter how "realistic" it looks. It has nothing to do with live action cinema.
The problem with AI is that it allows the absolute sloppa that people have in their minds to exist when it really shouldn't, always remember most humans are not humans
>>223967867Exactly. Cinema always went along with technology: sound, color, widescreen, CGI, 3D, IMAX, etc. All the seething is really irrelevant, it's a natural and inevitable path.
>>223967867Natural evolution of society.*It has so many good applications... anti AI fags really are extremely low IQ.
Grim.
Robust.
The appeal of cinema to me is real people photographed in real spaces. If scenes become CGI or AI -centric, it's not for me.
>>223967957So you don't like animated films? Grim! Sad!
>>223967976I consider cinema and animation two distinct mediums.
>>223967904thisai is the new digital camera watershed. a powerful technology that's too accessible for peons to just unleash a tidal wave of slop. there would unironically be 0 issues with AI if it was only available as hardware and it was as expensive as a film camera. the normgroids who write off AI wholesale are morons, it's like saying that the moving image arts should stop because there are jeets making hundreds of thousands of tiktoks.>>223967928>>223967936trukeBABY INVASION...BABY INVASION
>>223967988That's stupid. Is Who Framed Roger Rabbit a third medium?
AI movies are the ultimate endpoint of storytelling-based cinema.
Storytelling is based and Homerpilled
It's disgusting. KILL ALL ROBOTS
Too many clankas in these threads.

>>223968077>>223968062Gays
>>223968016It's a mix of two mediums. Filmmakers put music into cinema and music still remains its own medium. The same way you can put animation into cinema. Or cinema into videogames (any game with live action cutscenes), etc.
