So does this show pretty much prove everyone who ever said
>Star Wars should be a simplistic fairy tale in space and never explore anything deep or intricate in it's setting
completely wrong?
>>
Darth Vader wouldn't have allowed rape
>>
>>223950531
Why
>>
The show was schizo and is a good example of why modern television will always be fucking feces as long as a writer's room is involved.

>Gritty working class story about the spy from Rogue One working through the underworld of Star Wars with deep tension and urban elements

>Oh shit, now we're randomly off in the woods in some jewess written story with our main character off with a bunch of fucking fags and having some repressed homosexual attraction with some faggot in the woods

>Why? Cause fuck you, that's why.

You will never get a decent or coherent TV show or movie ever again.
>>
>>223950500
Firstly, if anything this show proves them right because Andor was fucking trash.
Secondly, fairy tales are supposed to impart important real-world lessons in a simple format so that even children can understand them, which the original six Star Wars films did perfectly.
Andor is a midwits trying to write something intelligent and lecture the audience.
Star Wars is a genius trying to simplify things for the masses, while also entertaining them.
>>
>>223950500
Star Wars should be something that both kids and adults can enjoy, not a serious attempt at le facism for 40 year old Wookiepedia manbabies to soi out over.
>>
>>223951245
>Andor was fucking trash.
Andor is widely regarded as one of the best pieces of Star Wars media ever made on par with the OT. There's no comparison here.
>>
Andor is actually more true to Star Wars than anything that came after, in that it works because it's directly ripped off from great movies that came before.

The best parts of the first season of Andor (aka the only good season) were clearly knocked off from the Battle of Algiers.
>>
>>223950500
no because this shit still isnt good. its just COMPARITIVELY good compared to the rest of the literal dogpoo that is star wars catalogue. if this was not attached to the star wars IP, people would rightfully acknowledge it as mid.

>>
>>223951718
The first few episodes were written by a goy White man and then the next few episodes were written by some kike women. This is when the show flipped from interesting underworld urban kino to some weird gay as fuck boring story where the main character is now literally randomly in the woods with some repressed faggot attraction story with someone fucking faggot in some band of merry men or whatever faggot shit the jewess writer was babbling about. I tapped out there. Fuck it.

One of the most schizo things I've seen in a modern television show and a great example of why modern television will always be worse than AIDS. Because there will always be some kike or some fag or some completely fucked in the head retard in the writers' room to drag it down. Also you're getting a story from 12 different voices instead of just one coherent voice in modern television which is why it's schizo as shit with modern writing rooms.

I watched the show twice and I can't be sure what the fuck you're talking about. Lol, are you referring to the lead-up to the Aldhani heist? If so, please get some help. If that chuddy assessment is what you got out of those episodes, you are completely mindbroken and need to reset your brain.

Andor isn’t even what would be described as woke. It plays the same notes as the OT and specifically the implied spycraft among the Rebellion. It also showed how normal people related to their place within the empire and the highlights of the show are in the subtle details and minutiae. The prison episodes with Serkis are pure Star Wars. The writing is incredible in the overall narrative and there are many memorable characters. You faggot MAGA anons injecting trans narratives into everything are worse than the most annoying woke scolds you constantly rip on.

Having an entire movie where we have a guy go "you fools I deliberately made it with a secret hole that if you shoot it it blows the entire space station up" and then having two seasons of shit leading up to how the rebels found out about that guy and his insane plan is far worse than just having it be an oversight or a design flaw like it was originally.
It makes the rebels look incompetent because they weren't able to work it out for themselves.

Unironically, it depends what you mean by "Star Wars". If you're looking for Flash Gordon, sword and planet adventures, space opera, space westerns, Arthurian legends in space, seven samurai in space, dambusters in space, or a bunch of other stuff that was in those movies, you won't find it in Andor. It's a cold war/WW2 thriller dressed up in the Star Wars aesthetic. And really that's the only thing anyone can agree on with Star Wars, the aesthetics of it. Arguably that's its defining feature.

You know what? I'm saying it. It's really interesting how hellbent are Star Warsfags on keeping SW shit. Any other fanbase of any other setting normally wants their setting to be good and interesting. They want to see it's history, characters, factions, political situation, culture, religion and concepts developed, sensible, believable and cool. Except for Star Warsfags. They want it shit. Obsidian and the EU made Star Wars interesting and fanbase only screams:
>No! It's too much! Make it shit again! Make it simplistic! Star Wars should never be good and interesting!
No wonder TFA was so successful. Mystery man jew jew abrams seems really fitting for this setting. He doesn't explain anything, nothing needs to make sense and be believable. Even a basic, simple politics and metaphysical concepts in prequels and kotor2 filter the shit out of star warsfags. Any worldbuilding seems to cause literal, physical pain in them. It's unbelievable really.
>>
>>223952214
>The prison episodes with Serkis are pure Star Wars.

>>
Andor was designed in a lab for the r3ddit "I'M A LE SMART STAR WARS FAN AND LOVES TO SCREAM THAT IT'S MORE THAN JUST LIGHTSABERS!"
What we got was some shitty BBC prestige drama in which the characters give these grandiose speeches like they practiced them in front of a mirror for a week. Worlds with 99% humans. And a rebellion that is now shades of gray.
>rebellion leaders in Andor are fucking scumbags and there are no celebrations for their fighters
>in ANH Han and Luke come out of nowhere, fire some missiles, and they are given a medal ceremony
>>
I thought it was ok. It didn't really need to be a a Star Wars show though and it doesnt really add anything, it being Star Wars. It just adds to the overall tone clusterfuck that is SW. Because the whole time youre watching the show, you know this whole competent evil regime is going to meet its end by a bunch of teddy bear muppets in the woods.

This whole "the story grows with you, the viewer!" thing worked for Harry Potter. But the SW universe isnt a linear story about an 11 year old growing up it's just a clusterfuck of ideas, quality, and TIE fighters.
>>
>>223954005
Star Wars has never had a good universe. It didn't have one to start with (the OT is very narrow in scope) and the attempts to expand it have mostly just stretched and copy pasted the original source material. The vast majority of the EU was shitty fanfic and the old republic wasn't much better. Star Wars as a "universe" amounts to not much more than derivative fanfiction for retarded manchildren to waste their time memorizing and debating over. It is effortlessly mogged by actually well thought out universes like the Culture or Xeelee Sequence, but the average fat ugly fuck who obsesses over Star Wars wouldn't be able to get into those settings.
>>
>>223954161
This. It takes the Empire and some of the Star Wars motifs and is otherwise a completely unrelated show. Once again proving that Star Wars just does not have that much in it to begin with.

By good writting, by good cast of actors, filmmaking crew etc and etc.

If it will be made by people who made Ahsoka, probably no? By people who made Andor? Well, at least some slice of possibility it might end up good.
>>
>>223954800
I'm not talking about Han Solo's backstory (because we already got that, and it was shit), I'm talking about the guy at the start of the movie who's admitting Han to the Imperial Army and is like
>hmm, no last name... we'll call you Han... "Solo".
Where's his backstory? He's about as relevant to the plot as the random guy who gets the Death Star plans from Beach Planet, in that neither of them ever needed to be explored.

It's not. It's just really messy.

The show is best when it's not being political and is more of a spy thriller. Cassian having to prepare for a heist with a bunch of useful idiots, having to find a way out of jail, and skulking away from imperial patrols.

When you make a point of moral ambiguity while still trying to portray one side as objectively wrong, you fuck up everything. It's rules for thee, none for me shit. Practically fucking masturbation.

By the end, I'm cheering for the Empire because they actually have their shit together while the Rebellion is a mess of people who have nothing in common besides hating the Empire.
>>
>>223955019
>When you make a point of moral ambiguity while still trying to portray one side as objectively wrong, you fuck up everything
The show goes out of its way to point out that an organization like the empire would have tons and tons of absolutely good and well-meaning people propping it up and doing the work required to keep it functional. You're way oversimplifying things.
>>
>>223954982
I don't know, why do you keep doing it?
For that matter, what relevant worldbuilding has Andor even added? I don't care about his past because I don't care about the character. I don't care about "what happened to Mon Mothma to make her join the Rebellion?" because the implication already exists through her limited characterization in Jedi that she's a former senator or powerful figure upset at the tyranny of the Empire, just like Leia was.
She's a boring character in the first place, if you want to do some backstory of random nobodies, give me someone like Crix Madine and the story of him in the Imperial Academy/Army up until his defection to the Rebellion. Show me Wedge Antillies doing shit with Rogue Squadron and laying the groundwork for the invasion of Coruscant.
Don't bore me to tears with the likes of John Andor.

Because..? That's literally how revolutions are comming into being. It's always starts with relatively small group of outcasts, who already have nothing to lose.
>because they actually have their shit together
LMAO
Literally every single step of Empire's faillings was because they couldn't keep their shit together. They missed Luthen and his early activity of cobbling together supply chain for rebels cells because of their arrogance and petty rivalry between various branches of imperial bureaucracy. They ditched most loyal and competent Imperials and completely disregarded their professional expertise in the most critical moment simply because they were too afraid to face Vader or Palp.

The rebellion is also shown, especially at the start, as being partially comprised of some criminals, murderers as extremists so unstable that even the organized leadership that eventually develops can't trust or work with some of them. I mean one side is obviously in the wrong, the show does have to work within the existing framework of a tyrannical government led by an ontologically evil space wizard, but I think the show does a completely adequate job of making both sides more realistic and morally grey then any previous star wars movie/show.
>>
>>223955169
Revolutions have consistently been the middle class, lesser nobles, or alienated military officers raising the lower against the upper. It is never a peasant uprising. It's peasants led by a figure they already know and trust, the aforementioned mid level figure.

Fucking Mon Mothma is a noblewoman.

>The Empire is not just an infinite bureaucratic mega-corporation, but they're also an uncaring robo-fascist police state where you can be picked up by a robot for literally doing nothing, and without any trial or anything, be sent off to a "You will 100% die here" work-prison-gulag.
A little on the nose, but sure, whatever. My real question about this is, if this is how the world(s) work, how come no one cares? How come people just go about their business as if it could never happen to them? Everyone in the Empire is on the "it is what it is" train? This actually, to me, kind of makes what the Empire did in Star Wars LESS overtly malicious and evil because it kind of just implies the people like Moff Tarkin, Vader, etc. are just doing exactly the same stuff with the same attitude normal bureaucrats are.

But anyway, my real gripe is that despite the show being called "Andor", the actual guy named Andor is surprisingly unimportant to the plot of the show. He just sort of exists, and important, dangerous, and critical events sort of happen around him and he's just perpetually along for the ride. Very little he actually does himself is of any lasting consequence, but because he's standing in-frame every time a major event happens, it's ascribed to him.

>how come no one cares? How come people just go about their business as if it could never happen to them?
Either they don't know it's happening (the empire is shown to have an extremely tight control on information getting out), or they rationalize that it's happening for a good reason to bad people, or they're too scared to risk something happening to them to do anything about it. These are the exact reasons people end up reluctantly supporting evil shit in the real world too.

Fans never talk about any of the characters from Andor, they dont even know most of the names of the characters, meanwhile every character and story point for The Empire Strikes Back are easily known by most SW fans.

Star Wars is suppose to be exciting, the OT is exciting, Andor is not. Andor is so far up its own ass with long talking scenes that it forgot to be interesting.

>>223955266
You'd think so, and I understand that conceptually, but what I mean is; Andor gets arrested because he randomly shows up to the house he was staying at on this beach planet. There's other people there, on that planet, in the area. None of them are acting like at any moment a big robot might grab them by the neck and say "You have been detained and are no going to death-jail". So it begs the question of what the moment-to-moment policing policy of the Empire is, because either the people who are closest to it happening on the ground don't know or care, or what happened to Andor is actually not normal, which doesn't seem likely.

It's not a major breaker of the show, it's just one of those things where Star Wars worked because you saw the "Evil Empire" was evil because it was ran by evil dudes in evil costumes who did literal evil wizard magic, and the more you try and give it actual bureaucratic inner workings it just becomes confusing.

That's the behavior of savages and the empire was all about order and pragmatism. Raping someone won't help them meet their goals. Maybe in fringe cases they might be able to use rape or the threat of it against somebody to get them to capitulate to their demands like threatening to rape a dignitaries wife but if rape would do the job simply threatening to kill them probably would as well.
>>
>>223955214
/v/ related, but I'm actually playing through the Imperial Agent storyline on SWTOR now and it does a far better job of portraying the moral gray of the Imps than Andor ever could.
>player is basically a secret agent for Imperial Intelligence
>infiltrating Republic-supported terrorist groups and faced with choices of maintaining cover at the risk of further harming Imperial citizens
>giving more of a shit about the common man than the Republic does, while at the same time having to deal with the occasional murder-happy Sith poking their nose into your work
The optimal way to keep your bosses happy is by going straight neutral, pick good guy choices when it benefits the Empire or prevents needless suffering/death, but don't be afraid to take dark side choices if it's more efficient, hampers the Republic or has acceptable losses.
>>
>>223955349
Yeah, that seems to be the morality of Andor.

By the end, the only difference between the Rebellion and the Empire doing something is which side you're on. Luthan doesn't give a shit about bombing innocent people or infrastructure or leaving people out to die. He's the great martyr figure you're supposed to think is some kind of amazing character.

In reality, he's a soulless fucking golem who doesn't believe in anything. He just hates the Empire.

He murders them for being incompetent at their jobs. Admiral Ozzel's actions result in the Rebels getting advance warning of their presence, forcing Hoth to become a full ground invasion while they are able to have several Rebel ships escape, and Captain Needa is killed because he literally went to Vader and reported
>uh yeah sir we uh... we just lost the falcon and we have no idea where it went
>>
>>223955471
You missed a lot of subtext
>>
>>223955497
You hallucinated something that wasn't there because the entire framing of the story is that the Rebellion wouldn't have even been possible without Luthan. That people like Mon Mothma are just naive figureheads for the real rebels like Luthan. That Andor, who does things he supposedly hates for a good cause, listens to and prioritizes Luthan over everyone else.

There is no alternative given. Luthan's hand is shown in practically everything. You are not shown a single figure or group that succeeds without his assistance.
>>
>>223950500

>>
>>223955431
Murder is quick and he uses it to solve problems. I'm not arguing that he's against the idea of rape, just that there are faster, cleaner ways to get somebody to do what you want. I'd be more inclined to believe that he wouldn't want his people raping whoever they want because it's a waste of time and they might enjoy it. He doesn't care of they're happy, if anything he'd prefer them to be uncomfortable and in terror at all times knowing he might crush their necks if they get distracted in space poon and don't finish their tasks asap.

I don't get the hype. People treat this like the one "mature" piece of Star Wars content, but the EU did a lot of this exploration of the Empire and its complexities way better. And Mandalorian was much more fun to watch in S1 and S2.
>>
>>223955427
Luthen acted the monster to wake people the fuck up. The Empire could have just not taken his bait. And they made him into that. He got a firsthand experience of their quieter genocides. So in his mind, it all made sense. There'd be no rebellion with Luthen. Everyone was too chickenshit before that.

>>223955755
The show really wants you to be taken aback by some of the shit he does and be uncomfortable with it even if it's ultimately necessary to stop the empire. I don't know what else you want, really. Lots of historical revolutionaries had a lot of blood on their hands even if the world they built was something better than what existed before, I don't think his example is terribly unrealistic other than existing in a world where his enemies are employed by an evil space wizard.

No. I don't watch Star Wars to not see space wizards with laser swords.

>>223955789
The empire being ran by a demonic space wizard is literally the why though. Hes an evil wizard. The empire is a false thing. Luthen didnt need to see him shoot lightning out of his hands to know. He just knew. Maarva died with her last words being pointing out theyd never leave them alone and always take more. Even the worst dictator will stop at some point and be like OK compromise time. That was never gonna happen when the emperor is literally an evil demonic space wizard.

It seems ridiculous and convoluted but being able to erase everyone that stands in your way in the push of a button is a pragmatic solution. More so than using and potentially losing thousands of ships and 10s of thousands of troops subjugating countless planets where rebellions can fester. Think of it this way, if the plans weren't stolen and there wasn't a well organized and equipped group who were able take advantage of a weakness who could have stopped them?
>>
>>223955949
>It seems ridiculous and convoluted but being able to erase everyone that stands in your way in the push of a button is a pragmatic solution.
Not if you literally need to force the whole galaxy to work on it and call for every possible money-saving measure, from slave labour to forcibly taken resources from the planets.
It's like North Korea pulling whatever scraps of the economy they have to make a nuke, it's anything but pragmatism.

In the show, the whole part where Cassian gets arrested for being in the wrong place at the wrong time was meant to be a heavy-handed (but still temporary) crackdown from the Empire as a reaction to the Aldani heist. It was even one of Luthen's main goals with the heist since he knew how the Empire would respond and how it would give people a reason to hate them more.

The implication being that the Empire on a good day isn't as draconian and people would be complacent usually.

>Even a basic, simple politics and metaphysical concepts in prequels and kotor2 filter the shit out of star warsfags.
Typical reddit midwit, completely and absolutely unable to process fan reactions to anything. You think people didn't like the political shit in the prequels because it wasn't simple enough? People who think the political and metaphysical ideas in the prequels make them good are so pathetic. The problem was NEVER that those movies had politics or metaphysics, the problem was the movies were fucking boring. The movies were boring mostly for execution reasons, but also because the "politics and metaphysics" aspects were handled very clumsily and poorly. They ranged from hamfisted to incoherent, and often spelled out in tedious exposition rather than presented in ways that encouraged viewers to figure it out on their own.

Of course, the average normalfag is not sophisticated enough to make a thorough, articulate criticism for WHY the concepts and themes fell flat. They just sum it up in a word and then total retards (like you, and maybe Kathleen Kennedy) accept that word blindly and conclude that "they don't like politics or metaphysics in movies" which is not the appropriate takeaway at all.

>Once again proving that Star Wars just does not have that much in it to begin with.
Star Wars had plenty for competent writers who understand basic principles. This is one of the dumbest RLM takes ever propagated around here.

Timothy Zahn's Heir to the Empire trilogy was great. He made it a bit more sci-fi, a bit more military-political fiction, and used the setting to generate interesting and likable characters like Mara Jade and Talon Karrde and numerous other alien species. Granted he had the luxury of working with OG characters (Luke/Han/Leia) but his story managed to be epic and exciting, with a blend of action, warfare, mysticism, character development, political intrigue and espionage without just turning it completely into something totally different. Even the stuff people cry about (like use of clones) were used well to drive character development.

Personally I'm not opposed to doing "barely even Star Wars" explorations of random niche ideas, the problem is how we got here. Instead of Disney doing a great job building out the best parts of the OG and EU, giving themselves a massive organically grown universe to explore in niche side content (the way Marvel did with the MCU); what actually happened was that KK and her tard squad completely blew up the franchise, bulldozing all the existing material and replacing it with utter garbage from soulless redditors.

Filling every blank with unnecessary shit definitely isn't a good thing.

And so this means that when it comes time for something like Andor, you get people rightly asking "why is this even Star Wars?" The connections are forced and lame. (We didn't need a plot about the Death Star plans and grimderping the rebellion, but because the Disney retards destroyed the rest of the Star Wars lore that's all they have).

The only time I've ever seen this meme used is in reference to someone not immediately and uncritically agreeing with some of the most retarded beliefs ever to grace mankind. It shows a myopic worldview where right wing retards assume everyone automatically agrees with then on some subconscious level and are just denying it, rather than merely having different world views and disagreeing. It's actual insanity on full display.

No, it really didn't. Prequels did a lot of damage, to be sure. But they also introduced new stuff. You can still synthesize and blend ideas, you aren't hard-chained to "extended canon" as if it's an all-or-nothing question. Iron Man was a b-list Superhero until 2008. Marvel's other big IPs like Spider-Man and the X-Men had been farmed out, so they dug deeper, didn't let themselves be told they couldn't by retards, and Avengers: Endgame remains #1 highest-grossing film of all time.

Star Wars could have done the same thing. So what that you can't tell the exact Zahn trilogy? You could have stolen specific characters, themes and plots and transplanted them into a new era. You could have shifted all the major conflicts a few decades, dropped stuff that didn't work and build on the parts that did. Thrawn would have been a far better villain than any of the retarded shit that JJ asspulled. Mara Jade is a somewhat divisive character but certainly more compelling than Rey. Mark Hamill was still alive. You could still give Mara some weird reason why she's obsessed with killing Luke Skywalker that they have to solve together, even if it lacks the romantic potential the original had.

And then, you're introducing characters with links to deeper lore that can also be mined and adapted. Mara is linked to Talon Karrde, who is linked to other smuggler characters. So you have your "TV Crime Drama" offshoot, with loads of material for writers to steal from when generating plots and side characters and storylines, while still having plenty of room to add their own twists.

But Disney just completely fucked it up. Now they're trying to do it, but without having any of the foundation that would have made it work well.

I don't use the meme but I do see it happen all the fucking time. Not really in this thread, but it's a real phenomenon and very much part of the left discourse more than the right. Right-wing retards do not pretend like they don't understand things, they just don't understand things. There's a very different feel when arguing with them, most of the time. They usually seem genuinely surprised at my points, they will often dig in and argue, sometimes meandering into conspiracytard stuff, but I never feel like I have to explain some really fucking basic distinction between things that are obviously distinct.

But, it's also true that a lot of right-wingers just go to X, because it's a lot smarter on average than 4chan these days. 4chan remains stubbornly difficult to kill, but leftist spambots like you have done a really good job of trying. Just look at your completely empty replies itt

because the imperial "end" is order and control for the sake of it, whereas the rebels are about freedom

A moon sized battle station really shouldn't be that big of a deal for an empire with the resources of an entire galaxy at its disposal. >No wonder TFA was so successful
TFA's success was the last desperate gasp of Disney's media manipulation apparatus.
It was down to 100% propoganda advertisement and a desperate hope that Disney would bring something good to Star Wars.
Disney spent more money then many mid sized small nations would ever see to advertise shill and whore this debacle and all they gained was a multibillion dollar money pit and permanently tarnished name amongst half of the geek audience and now all males into sci-fi and fantasy.

No Andor is not smart. It's high production, mid talent, disney/blackrock brand propoganda with some california sensibilities thrown in.

to be fair, the rebels ARE fairly incompetent and barely get away by the scrape of their neck 99% of the time, that's why them getting the plans was such a big W, it was their first major victory as the rebel alliance (sorry rebels, you were kino but can't hold a candle to the ot)

Why would it? SW identity is that of a self aware from the book hero´s journey. You may not like it but that´s what SW is. Anything that is not THAT is simply not SW, ergo, Disney Wars in general is not SW. It´s really not that hard to understand.

>TFA's success was the last desperate gasp of Disney's media manipulation apparatus.
>It was down to 100% propoganda advertisement and a desperate hope that Disney would bring something good to Star Wars.
I mostly agree with this. The only other thing I'll add is that the one thing TFA did pretty well was disguise how hollow and empty it was on first viewing. Frenetic pacing, quick cuts, Harrison Ford charisma, constant callbacks and references, and so on. The specific design of the story was "Disney Theme Park" where the audience self-inserts as Rey and goes on a whirlwind tour of every Star Wars trope, without any real care for character development or coherent narrative foundations.

As a result, a lot of people came out of TFA "feeling" like it was a good movie, due to all the superficial stuff. So there was good word of mouth for TFA alongside the marketing.

the fuck are you smoking? its the same story again told in a little "darker" setting. its the same shit. and i dont even hate it, but it has tons of problems, mostly that its almost embarassed to even be star wars tot he point of having shitty AK props when they couldve just used the good ol' blaster rifle that looks like a gewehr with a scope. and then they shit the bed hard with the next season, so no, they cant do anything different. it'll never do star trek like episodes, it'll just reheat the good ol' rebels vs whoever the current bad guy is. nothing else.

I'm so sick and fucking tired of this argument.
Iteration and re-evaluation of past concepts is essential to producing anything of value when you use old stories as your basis. It's how we come up with new permutations of ideas instead of trotting out the same old ones on repeat. I can point to Superman when our very idea of what Superman has been shifted by people doing EXACTLY the kinds of stories you decry as betraying the material. He was not a compassionate figure UNTIL people like Binder put him in situations his powers couldn't solve and created further restrictions in order to explore Clark's morality and character. Shit, Kryptonite as a weakness wasn't even a Siegel and Schuster invention! It was added to the radio show for drama! They inherently changed the entire conceit of Superman because the norms established in the comics weren't engaging. Challenging convention is not inherently good or bad.

Kotor 2 and Andor throw softballs at Star Wars. It suggests that fully relinquishing your will to the Force is bad and you need to take responsibility in your life and make decisions. Or in Andor's case, that the rebels might not have made entirely ethical decisions to beat the empire and the empire could have genuinely well meaning people in it. If that's enough to make you think it's too far removed from Star Wars, you're beyond help

This is a trite point, lots of lame and retarded fiction has tried to push this idea in the last 30 years.
Midwit pseuds always love to take some traditional purpose-driven storytelling and deconstruct it by applying arbitrary levels of cynicism (which they imagine to be "realism"). And maybe throw in some contrived moral dilemmas from philosophy 101 to leave unresolved for extra edgepoints.
