What exactly made the Disney Channel shows mean spirited? Apparently part of the reason why Phineas and Ferb was made so that every character was likable, even the antagonists was because when Dan Povenmire told a friend of his he sold the show to Disney Channel and got it greenlit, his friend said he didn't let his kid watch Disney Channel, because while they would have a lesson at the end of their episodes, the interesting character was always the backstabbing mean one and his kid was imitating that behavior.

I don't remember Candace being likable. It seems she was a bitch 100% of the time.

Surely you have other things to think about as an adult. You're not completely pathetic and gay, right?

I remember Kate from Lizzie McGuire being a fucking asshole. Why was she even in that show? All she ever did was act like a major asshole to Lizzie and her friends and call them losers.

I guess Cory would be the closest to that. He sold soda like it was crack in an episode. Which was weird because I thought only his family was cutting back on sweets, not all of San Francisco.

i know youre lacking in life experience but not everyone is a wholesome chungus potato

I don't recall Zack and Cody being mean spirited or Hannah Montana. Who exactly in them were "mean" or "jerks"? The only jerk in a Disney sitcom up to 2006 I can recall is Kate from Lizzie McGuire.

It seemed like when Dan's friend (and no it wasn't Swampy it was someone else) said the Disney sitcoms were mean he was referring to the live action shows. Were there any episodes of Disney sitcoms where a character was being a jerk and had to learn not to be a jerk?

Was she a "mean girl" trope classmate? I haven't seen this show in over 20 years, damn.
Let's see, Even Stevens had Larry Beal, the black guy in Ren's class who was an asshole to her and Louis. Kim Possible had that mean cheerleader girl. Proud Family had those blue kids. I guess they all had some kind of asshole antagonist character, huh.

Proud Family also had Penny's best friend Dijonay, who often would ditch Penny.

Hannah Montana and Wizards of Waverly place are the ones I instantly think about of how badly they would treat ugly people and not learn a lesson or get comeuppance about it. Like sure, that's realistic but you shouldn't be black pilling little boys that early

you remember wrong, she just wanted to follow the rules and was often in the right

I think I'm getting to be too old because I can't look at this picture and not see Nicolas Cage's face.
