>>223954416When I was watching this in the theater, I was in awe of the final conflict, just amazed that it was stop motion. It may be the most technically impressive animated scene in history. I also like how the story went from somewhat standard "kid in a fantasy land" to she leaves and has a legit couple reasons to come back.

Laika has never made a good film. All their stories are horribly generic. None of their characters are interesting or memorable. None of their soundtracks are any good. Everything they make disappoints. The only reason they exist at all is because some rich kid who likes stop motion bought the studio with his dad's money, so they never have to worry about a profit, and they can continue being the Don Bluth of the 21st century. Did anyone here even see their last film with the black girl?
