The people that complain about him killer are ignoring that Zack Snyder tried to do exactly what Grant Morrison before him did with the Arkham Asylum comic. Present a broken and psychotic comic as a commentary on the post-Frank Miller take on the character, before rehabilitating the character and presenting a more healthy and wholesome Batman reflective of the pré-Frank Miller portrayal.

I vaguely remember Snyder talking about him and Wan discussing continuity between JL and Aquaman, like whether or not Atlanteans could talk under water. I think the consensus was sticking with the air bubble for now but Wan would make the ultimate decisions on how everything in that corner of the universe worked and Snyder would just follow along for the JL sequels.
