After that it does a 180 and turns into yet another soapy teen drama
Same thing with Cobra Kai
All netflix shows fall off instantly after one season

Season 1 works entirely well as a self contained story. But everyone has to make a million dollars off everything so a cool thematic horror story becomes 5 seasons of nostalgia slop

S2 is a step down, a lot slower and has a totally useless episode, but it's not terrible. S3 cranks up the camp a little bit but it works and has a satisfying ending that S5 tried to copy and failed.
