i think as well as Gimble the other fundamental problem was there was just too many episodes and seasons , they should have speed run source material and not start FTWD until after TWD was finishedS1-A as it was ( 6 episodes)S1-B season 2 farm but 13 episodes cut to 8 ( 8 episodes)S2 Prison, Ends with fall of prison to Woodbury gang(16 episodes)S3 Odyssey across American to DC, Eugene's group , claimers, hunters, the grove, Father Gabriel, wolves end's at gate of ASZ (16 episodes)This season would be remembered as greatest Tv season everS4-A Alexandra safe zone ends with Jesus watching ASZ with binosS4-B Wider world: kingdom, hilltop, Savior's, end's with Negan baseball incidentS5-A March to war: ASZ as vassals of Savior'sS5-B All out war: With Savior's , defeats them in finaleS6 whispersS7 Commonwealth, Rick dies.Epilogue with Carl on a farm: with his new family110 episodes. (instead of 177 + 113 FTWD)
>>223959682the fundamental problem is that it turned to dog shit at/after around season 5, good actors leaving or dying off, more and more woke trash, the forced noncanon shipping between rick and the black cartoon samurai, the same boring location for multiple seasons and then it somehow became peak woke reddit shit with fat lesbian muslim girls
>>223959757>around season 5Scott Gimble became show runner around S4
the flaw in restructuring the show like this is that the kid playing carl wasn't that good an actor and definitely could not have carried it the way rick's did for very long (that story with him getting fired right after buying a house near the production notwithstanding)they should have just called it after rick left and done a movie or special showing daryl and the other legacy characters taking up the mantle of leadership or otherwise self-segregating into various factions (or even coming into conflict)they toyed with the idea of pitting them against one another late in the show but copped out with the ebul commonwealth uniting them again before anything interesting happened. I think killing carl was the right move for the show, they just did it in such a forced and papered-over and ultimately pointless way (the guy carl saves is a background npc who dies horrifically like two seasons later and does nothing in the interim)
