Do you like it when on-screen battles at least pretend to use tactics or are you fine with armies running at each other?
>>
>muh tactics

the mistake here is how many of them have swords. irl people just ran at each other with spears.

It's not of paramount importance but it's always nice to see something clever instead of just battle-slop. If it's lining up with real tactics then it's even better.

Why would you expect elaborate military tactics in a setting where a man gets thrown out of a window for having expertise in the field?
>>
>>223960187
The NPCs run at each other so the Hero and Villain can end up fighting in the middle, unless they're supposed to be generals playing a chess match.

Always tactics. The rule of cool is a lie. Action without stakes is meaningless. When you forget strategy in favour of mindless action, you get shit like the Crane Corps from the Great Wall movie.

I severely enjoy it when the movie presents the consequences for the individual soldier of the chosen "tactic".

Basically, showing WHY a tactic worked.
Honestly, pin point accuracy of the weaponry and equipment is of lower importance to me.

Example: Game of Thrones showing what a melee in very tight conditions look like (BoB)
"The King" (I think it was) showed how trying to jump over wooden stakes with horse into spears means.

Kingdom of Heaven also does this a bit.

>having expertise in the field
Is that what they're calling it now?
>>

They should show them running but then they all have to sit down and rest
>>
Rule of cool trumps all. If it looks good it's in the film. Simple as.

loved parts of the battles in last kingdom s3 ep1 and the s1 finale. so tactics, yes, just dont get autistic. braveheart and battle of the bastards were just too retarded
>>

you're overstating it. you can take some liberties here or there. but in moderation
>>

I hate Hollywood battles. I fucking hate them. They drive me fucking nuts. They are offensively retarded.
The Kingdom of Heaven is the only one I can recall off the top of my head that actually had a decent siege.

Who? What? I am not up to speed on the board drama. And that's the way I like it.

I've never seen a big battle scene with actual tactics. Probably because in real life these battles took the entire day or more and most of it was just maneuvering around trying to get into favorable positions with the occasional skirmish inbetween. And most people got killed when one side lost their nerves and retreated and the general order was broken up.

Post the Rome scene
