I COULD BE BLACK I COULD BE WHITE

Based butter salesman.
>>
I don't like anything this guy is involved in

I remember hating this faggot's guts my whole life until I heard this and realized he did something adjacent to actual music. Punks are the worst human beings alive, spoiled rich kids larping as lower class bringing their artless interpretation to music.
Trust me, I played in a punk band.

PiL is criminally underrated. Genuinely amazing songwriting and they've been overlooked because people can't get used to Lydon's vocals I guess. Shame.

He finally hooked up with real musicians who knew exactly where and how to use his instrument. The element fits perfectly. Sex Pistols was just abrasive all around and that's never what I look for in music.

>blame the rich for punks being insufferable
thats so punk

i dont think thats something that is specific to punks, i think thats just the people you were hanging out with, all the punks ive met in my local area are poor as fuck, i suspect the reason that the punks youve met are all spoiled rich kids is because youre a spoiled rich kid
>>
>>223961349
He's doing the punk thing of blaming rich people
>>
he was a good host for the sorry skate vid

I remember thinking this was the dumbest song, and I went to show this to my sister, both of us being Pistols fans. About halfway through showing her I realized ah crap, I actually really like this now
>>

The invented punk "culture" in the first place. Without the marketing, "punk" would still mean useless scrap only good for burning, like faggots. The wood, too.

as an early 00s high school kid this was precisely how i viewed modern hippies
>>
>>223961673
Only "modern" hippies?
>early 00s high school kid
Sorry, you weren't around for Charles Manson and that time a bunch of sodomites attacked a police squad and sent a major city into chaos. Neither was I, granted, but I'm literate.
>>
>>223960897
Whatever. I got over that whole thing about upper class and nepo kids making LARP music after I came to the unfortunate reality that all the best music of all time is made by them and their parents credit card, or funded by Tavistock etc. The real poor kid musicians are why we have like Slipknot or 3 Doors Down. Unless you're like Lydon or you're an anomaly like a band from a shithole like Manchester that inexplicably can produce talent, your "hardship" doesn't always equate good art.
>>
>>223961815
Music made before 2000 was not even close to exclusively made by rich kids.
>>
>>223961804
hippies still riot...
>>
>>223961931
Always have, hence me asking why you specified "modern" hippies.
>>
>>223961905
Off the top of my head, Washington DC hardcore scene from the 80's, the Laurel Canyon scene of the 60's are just two examples of entire music subcultures consisting of majority rich kids. Both highly influential in their own regard. Now keep in mind that is two entire "scenes". If we wanted to get into the weeds with individual bands or musicians themselves, we could be here all day.
>>
>>223962025
And who do you think hired the ones who (allegedly) weren't rich?
>>
>>223962071
J's who are good at spotting goy that can't/won't read or understand their record contracts.
>>
>>223962243
The rich, correct.
>>
>>223960699
Has anyone seen PiL live recently? They'll be in my city soon
>>
>>223960897
Same with hippies, almost like it's all manufactured...
>>
>>223963003
Culture is downstream from Power, despite some people reversing the process intentionally and calling the latter "politics," yes.
