Honestly, rewatching Manos in theaters tonight after not seeing it since 2017 made me realize it's not as bad as I remember it being; for a while there, it has this sincere artistry behind it that almost came off as intentionally experimental beyond camp.
It's really bad, don’t get me wrong, but maybe not bottom 3 horror of all-time, reserved for excruciating "films" like Skinamarink.

Yes.
A line going infinitely in one direction can still have a starting point, or the opposite.

Holy fuck this was kino. That one jumpscare caught me so off guard that it made me screech and curse out loud, something that hasn't happened to me in a long time. Also Justine was cute af, definitely drunkfu material.

>put on low budget slop
>"starring Linnea Quigley!"
>picture of her on the poster and everything
>she shows up for like 5 minutes, gets naked and takes a shower, and is immediately killed off
>rest of the movie continues without her
Gotta admire the willingness to randomly bless B movies with full frontal female nudity
>>
>>223991479
I can accept Alice being a delusion of the MC and him being the killer, but then who the fuck is the man he kills at the end, and what does the schizo who kills himself have to do with anything?
>>
My only problem is that having one of the main characters be Scottish when nobody else in the movie is, is distracting
>>

here I was thinking you were talking about Silent Night, Deadly Night

>>Hear good things about this film and the director
>Watch it
>Realize less than half way through the daughter is insane
>Narrative becomes more disjointed and nonsensical as the movie progress
>"Scares" have no effect because I've already assumed all narrative perspectives have been compromised and it's really just the schizo daughter spazzing out
>Movie ends by revealing how the schizo's sister actually died
>Essentially by a trifecta of her being a spiteful cunt, the stepmom being a malicious cunt, and the biological mom being a schizo cunt and hanging herself in her daughter's closet
What exactly was I supposed to take away from this schizo babble?
What's the moral of the story here?
>>
>>223992473
I'm picturing you in a hospital telling the doctors that the last thing you remember is watching the movie Grave Encounters, and them looking at each other concerned and then telling you "Anon... we checked your streaming history. What you saw was Session 9. You've... never seen Grave Encounters" and then you look down and you're in a straight jacket, struggling frantically as they wheel you to your padded cell

Uhhh there's only 3 days left for October, and I haven't watched anything this month except for the shitty new VHS movie. Any recommendations for what I should watch?

The Cycle came out this month and anons have generally liked it, go for that.
>>
>>223992891
What's it about?
>>
>>223992896
Best to go into it knowing less, but it's starts as an investigation/mystery film. Definitely horror and has sfx.

To the anon who said this is like Morbius/Birds of Prey.. did we watch the same movie? It was much better than I expected. Basically a Cronenberg type horror movie with only one fantastical element in it, the main protagonist.
>inb4 it's capeshit
While the character himself looks like a big shit, it's not a superhero movie at all. I dare say it's kino.
>>
so is it worth a watch?

I just watched Elm Street 3 for the first time since childhood, and I never noticed how bad of an actor Heather Langenkamp is in it, but goddammit if she wasn't really cute in it.
>>
>>223993021
I re-watched all of the original Elm Street movies years ago, and noticed that too.
>>
>>223993008
It's not as terrible as the snobs say it is, but it is noticably bad at times because they basically used all the budget on some episodes then threw it to another studio.
It's a fine, though the manga is amazing in comparison. I think the Junji Ito Maniac and Junji Ito Collection anthology series are more fun.
>>
>>223993008
Watch the first episode then read the rest
>>
>>223992111
>Leather clearly dies in this fight.
>shows up in every other TCM sequel
do they have spares or something?
>>
>>223993045
ive been re-watching them all month and noticed the opposite
>>
>>223992238
thought you were talking about Jack-O
