>I was like you once Anon. I believed in the immutable word of the global rules. That is until the night Mrs. Janny was taken from me. You see, no-one loved /tv/ more than her. She was head of the Women’s Discord, chair of the board culture committee, even pinned the stickied threads. When they started the ’Board of the Year’ contest, she worked round the clock, it became her life. I’ve never seen such dedication. Hot Fuzz doesn’t land with me. I like the idea but it’s just there. It doesn’t help that I agree with the villains.
>>
>>224014351
Except the villains are psychopathic boomers execute random white kids for having fun. They are supposed to seem like they have a point until you realize that.
>>

There’s a line to be crossed, for sure, but the movie strawmans the argument with trivial transgressions instead of grappling with the real idea of cultural degradation.

it's a recognisable character type, you probably know (or are/were) an Ed.

the more dated aspect is the fact it's basically a parody of those Richard Curtis films, twee twentysomethings who live in a London that didn't actually exist. i can't explain it, but i LIKE all the housemate/friend characters in Spaced. all the housemate/friend characters in Shaun of the Dead just make me wish i was watching Spaced.

When you think about it even more, Ed was in the right for calling him a prick all the time.
Pete was in pretty much the same boat as Shaun but acted like he was somehow superior. Ed was putting him in his place and Pete fucking hated it.

Oh that’s easy, Gary because my life has been completely meaningless and directionless since high school because I didn’t take school seriously and never went to college and I’m 34 so it’s way too late for that now

I like it, it's very comfy, although Orlando Jones really deserved to be in better productions imo

Funny you should say that because it was the "your place or mine" skits in Bruiser with those two where I realized I would fuck her into oblivion.

The script is so good that the film DEMANDS multiple viewings in order to get all the wordplay jokes and foreshadowing. I think I'm on my dozenth watch and I still catch something new every time. It's wild how much Wright's script-writing fell off in the last few years compared to the Cornetto Trilogy.

Anon, you buy guns for sports and to shoot people trying to hurt you or your family, you don't buy guns to hurt yourself.
