I rewatched House of 1000 Corpses, Devil’s Rejects and 3 From Hell. I enjoyed them all more than I did when I first watched them. House of 1000 Corpses is a lot better than I remembered it being, I always liked the beginning but I enjoyed the latter half a lot more this time. Devil’s Rejects I think is really fucking good, and I always really liked it but I think it’s Zombie’s best movie easily now. 3 From Hell has some good sequences, but as a movie I feel like it clearly was just a stitch job of a movie with Captain Spaulding that got fucked because he was dying

I think Rob wanted to show that he could make a more normal and straight forward movie. I like how he makes these evil characters like able and the sheriff brutal and unforgiving as to make the audience root for the bad guys, even after the sadistic things they do at the beginning of the film. First viewing of Three from Hell and yeah it was a messy stitch job as you said with a dying Sid Haig. Not a bad idea to have them flee to Mexico however for the kino day of the dead setting.
