Is this the best Star Trek movie?
>>
None of them are good. There's a reason why Star Wars mogged ST in popularity even in the 90s when there hadn't been a Star Wars film in theaters in 15 years

>There's a reason why Star Wars mogged ST in popularity
Because normies are dumb and have bad taste?
>>
I like ST let them die more
>>
>>224059456
Most normal people aren't interested in liberal propaganda disguised as science fiction
>>
it's pretty retarded that a federation ship confused ceti alpha v and vi. the whole ceti alpha system should have been off-limits.

>NOOOO I DON'T WANT TO LIVE IN A POST SCARCITY SOCIETY WHERE I CAN ENJOY LIFE I WANT TO WORK 40 HOURS A WEEK FOR BARELY ENOUGH TO SURVIVE WHILE PEOPLE WHO WERE BORN INTO IMMENSE WEALTH GET TO EXPLOIT ME!!!

Do you have a findom fetish or something
>>
>>224059427
Yes, but all the original cast Star Trek movies are pretty good except for V (which has some memetic value but is still a clusterfuck).

>>224059456
Star Wars is as good as Trek in its own way. Star Trek is just different. People who can't figure out the difference are stupid, have no taste, and their opinions should be ignored.
>>
>>224059511
no one checked on it, did you watch the movie?
>>
>>224059427
I>IV>VI>=II>III>>>>>>>>>>>V>TNG Movies
>>
>>224059657
For how good TNG the series is I was pretty mad the movies are all such shit
>>
>>224059657
III should be higher
>>
>>224059427
I like Star Trek. Not a major fan, but I enjoy it. I have never seen the movies though except for the first Abrams one and I knew it was completely antithetical to what Star Trek was and established. Why are they so bad if Star Trek is so popular? It seems like it'd be easy enough to make good ones, just make extended episodes.
>>
>>224059501
Star Wars is literally just boomer seethe about Nazis.
>>
>>224059522
the chuds pretend to yearn for the mines, until you shove them into the mines, then they come running right back to Liberalism.
>>
>>224059698
>retarded /pol/nigger opinion
Star Wars is medieval fantasy in space
>>
>>224059670
I just ignore them for the most part. I think they only reference the destruction of the Enterprise in Generations once in DS9, and the recent 'Borg Attack' from First Contact only a couple of times too.
They completely ignore Worf having lost his wife in Insurrection too which is pretty bad.
>>
>>224059708
>the chuds pretend to yearn for the mines, until you shove them into the mines
>misses the point entirely

No one toils in mines in star trek. Do you know what "post scarcity" means?
>>
>>224059684
eh, III is the weakest of the 2,3,4 trilogy imo, but it's not like it's a bad film, just nothing special
>>
>>224059730
>>224059708
nvm I misunderstood you

The Star Trek movies don't dwell much on "utopian post-scarcity future" much. And they aren't preachy like TNG.

Classic Star Trek is "Horatio Hornblower in Space," it's about adventures in the unknown, "the final frontier," not political propaganda. Certainly, by the 1980s, having a character like Uhura on the bridge in a comms role was not a notable political statement of any sort.

>No one toils in mines in star trek
How right you are anon.

>Star Wars is as good as Trek in its own way.
LMAO no. Star Wars has two great movies, that's it. Return of the Jedi is slop other than some great scenes (basically everything in Palpy's throneroom). Prequels are trash even if zoomers that weren't even born when they came out insisting on making unfunny memes about them. Disneywars isn't even worth mentioning. Everything else is just some type of children's cartoon.

Trek has multiple highly acclaimed shows which have hundreds of episodes. There are many dozen episodes that are top tier television. The best of Star Trek episodes mog even the two good movies that Wars had. So not only does Trek have higher highs, it simply has far more in terms of good and great runtime.

Wars is fine for popcorn slop but Trek actually engages the mind. There is not anything in Wars that comes close to something like Duet, for example. The sum total of Wars' contribution to media is ensuring that cinema became dumbed down from that point onwards, as studios realised dumb mindless spectacle is what general audiences want. Trek meanwhile has actually had real world influence of science, technology, space travel and even philosophy. It's not comparable.

You are saying a McDonald's Burger is superior to a select cut of Ribeye steak.

I is underrated but still a slog at times, too much of a shallow imitation of Kubrik's Space Odyssey. I still think II is better.

Frankly I don't like ranking the ST movies because they're all so different. How can you even compare I and IV? At least 2-4 have a solid continuity.
>>
>>224059712
The Empire are so clearly just space nazis and the space fights are literally just WW2 dogfights in space you stupid nigger. Dune is medieval fantasy in space, not Star Wars.
>>
>>224059615
yeah, i watched it. do you know anything about astronomy? the navigator on the reliant surely didn't.
>>
>>224059829
Kid, your post is nothing but mindless parroting opinions that aren't your own.
>Wars is fine for popcorn slop but Trek actually engages the mind
It does, but if it was actually as good for your mind as you claim, then your criticism of Star Wars wouldn't have been so bland and pathetic.
>>
Not only is it the best one, its also the funniest one. The bug scene in the ear is funny, spock telling kirk to stop as a captain was funny, khan having his aryan retarded kids to fly the ship is funny, and spock dying is funny
>>
>>224059846
If the Empire are space nazis who are the space jews? Who are the space slavs?

>I is a slog
very true, but I like how weird it is
>II is better
No doubt for most people II is better, and it's the first of them I saw. I think the episode it's based on (Space Seed) is much better and II isn't as good if you've seen TOS imo.

I agree that ranking them is superficial as they're quite different, but it's just for fun mostly. V is pretty shit though, but I like Sybok and the scene between him Kirk and Bones.
>>
>>224059427
It's good and probably saved the franchise, but its legacy is diminished by the fact that every Trek movie for the past quarter century has been a lame rehash of it: guy that you've forgotten about comes back with a grudge and steals a superweapon, etc. And in fairness to NuTrek, it's Nemesis that apes it the most shamelessly (even including the battle in a sensor-disabling nebula, and the fan-favorite autist sacrificing himself but with a resurrection teaser at the very end) while Into Darkness that follows the formula the least despite referencing the film the most.
>>
>>224060133
Good point.
My favorite of the original movies is still VI, even though I don't think it's actually the best story.
>>
>>224059427
for us fans, it probably is
>>
>>224059885
Criticism of Wars is bland because the franchise itself is bland. There is nothing that makes you think. It's good guys vs le evil nazis and retarded dogfights in space. Also telling that there was nothing approaching worthwhile in your reply.

Yes
1 is a boring pos.
2 is perfect
3 is interesting
4 is schlock kino
5 is ass
Never saw 6
>>
>>224061127
this feels like bait
>>
>>224059727
It’s funny because it seems like the shows were just eating up all the budget at the time of the next gen movies and they never bothered to just try and get a real director or screen writer to write a movie, they just took the tv writers in the middle of seasons and they just shat out whatever they could think of because they were focused on DS9
>>
>>224060133
>Into Darkness

I hate that I like moments of Into Darkness. The scene where Enterprise gets clapped by The Evil Enterprise during warp is hard hitting and doesn't break the world rules like SW: TLJ
