Was this attempted rape. Or was she asking for it?
>>224071466I'm not here to speculate on the moral lapses of a man who served his country
>>224071466she was interested in him, but she didn't want to have sex with him at the time. So that's rape.
>>224071466Yes it was attempted rape. It also got her hot and bothered so she asked for it later.
>>224071582weird how people just gloss over this line when it reveals the absolute depth of Rorschach's hypocrisy
>>224071616Death of the author, Moore didn’t understand Rorschach
>>224071616>>224071688Not really. Rorschach is an objectivist. He's really not a hypocrite from his perspective. A good man doing good things suddenly raping someone? It doesn't change the scales to Rorschach so he lets it go. An evil man doing evil things, suddenly does good? That also doesn't calculate for him. There's no gray area with Rorschach, it's black and white. Either you're good or bad. He offers no moral ambiguity. It's why he generally dislikes Dr.Manhatten and Adrian Veidt, they're both incredibly morally ambiguous. Nite Owl mean while is generally a "good" person in his eyes, so if Nite Owl beats the shit out of someone when he's angry, Rorschach lets it go, despite it being an evil act.
>>224071798what exactly makes The Comedian a "good man" according to Rorschach? Before trying to rape Silk Spectre he was busy raping and killing civilians in Vietnam
>>224071832actually he tried to rape Silk Spectre before serving in WWII or in vietnam. The single assault of one woman doesn't sway Rorschach though. Generally, stopping evil is what Rorschach likes. Comedian fought crime and did just that. So, for a normal person this should be complicated. A rapist that did good for the world? It's not complicated for Rorschach, he see's him as good despite his flaws.
>>224071879>it's ok to murder and rape as long as you stop the occasional armed robberyno wonder Ayn Rand is a laughing stock
>>224071900the murder is good because it's killing evil people. That's how it's seen anyway. Rorschach also likely doesn't see Comedian as a rapist since he didn't succeed at raping her.
>>224071466>Was this attempted rape. Or was she asking for it?She clearly was selling, but not giving away free samples. So in that respect he was in the wrong.
>>224071688This. Rorschach's moral simplicity, combined with his great acumen made him an incredibly complex character. He can be both a hypocrite, or sincere character; as we read his story, we see his inability to co-exist in the world, but we also see the reasons. We only get these depths of field from two characters in Watchmen: Dr. Manhattan and Him. Alan Moore probably didn't like that he didn't fit into his sex magick anarco-socialist worldview as he wrote the character, and that's why he dismiss him to this day
>>224072165>didnt succeed in raping her>still managed to get her pregnantuhhh.... what?
>>224071466The way the movie depicted it was rape. The way the graphic novel depicted it was rape of someone that was asking for it.They also failed to capture him exactly understanding why the big gay circus guy does this work, because beating men off gets him off. There wasn't that guilty pause in the movie.
>>224071616That is the core of Rorschach's mental illness. He believed Truman had done the right thing throwing the bombs on Japan. It's a character defining moment for him politically. And then at the end of the novel, when finally being faced with the same demand on him, to essentially support the killing of millions to save billions, he's not able or willing to make that same choice. Theoretically he agreed. In practice he didn't.
>>224071900You've got the frequencies backward. It would be it's okay to murder and rape occasionally if you spend your life stopping armed robberies, murders and rapes.
>>224072980they had consensual sex after
As I recall from the film, at an unspecified time in the future they had consensual sex which resulted in the conception of Silk Spectre's daughter, Laurie. Is it common for women to later have consensual sex with men who previously attempted to rape them? I honestly don't know as I've never spoken to a woman in real life.
>>224072980Her muff getting stuffed against her will was interrupted. She later returns to get her muff stuffed by him willingly.
>>224071688kind of. Moore's primary goal was just specifically trying to dunk on Steve Dikto's nutty Mr. A character out of spite, everything else was secondary
>>224073049>Theoretically he agreed. In practice he didn'tHe literally tells Manhattan to kill him, which goes against what you are proposing.Meaning that he does believe it is an acceptable solution, making him once again the only actual hero of the story. He is willing to sacrifice himself for everyone.also you're implying that bombing Japan wasn't actually a morally good choice.
>>224071466Nah, she has a rape and pregnancy fetish.
>>224073081After I had broken up with my ex we did a postmortem talk about the relationship we had. She ended up describing the first time we had sex in a way that if you wrote the words down, would describe a rape, even if she didn't call it that. I distanced myself as much as I could after.Another girl I fucked for a couple of times never really got wet for some reason. When I talked to her about previous sexual experiences, she described a time where she worked as a store clerk, had to get something from the backrooms and when she did, her fat unattractive coworker walked in, pushed her down and started fucking her. It was unexpected, it was unasked for and she was very wet and enjoyed it a lot and was disappointed he didn't do it again.Rape exists, but I don't trust women to always know how to make the distinction.
>>224073143>When I talked to her about previous sexual experiences, she described a time where she worked as a store clerk, had to get something from the backrooms and when she did, her fat unattractive coworker walked in, pushed her down and started fucking her. >>224073112It's not that he's willing to sacrifice himself, he's unwilling to compromise.>not even in the face of Armageddon. But he's smart enough to know that going up against Manhattan can have only one outcome.--Also yes the nukes weren't a morally good choice, much like the alien / manhattan bomb wasn't morally good. The same as nukes could have been achieved with acknowledging that Japan was allowed to keep a ceremonial emperor, instead of demanding unconditional surrender and then allowing it anyways. It was the soviet invasion anyways that caused the Japanese leaders to accept surrender.I think the American freemasons just wanted to kill Christianity in Japan, which they did, nuking 70% of christians by throwing a nuke on the cathedral of "little Rome".
>>224071616Ironic considering that whore in the news recently who changed her mind after the gangbang IRL.Being a hero is hard. You sure as fuck couldn't just go off half-cocked and attack any man that any woman pointed a finger at - especially if you had superpowers. This is a problem that would-be IRL superheroes like Phoenix Jones run into immediately. They just lack sufficient information to make a proper determination about who is in the wrong at the moment so they can mete out justice in situ. This is the vast majority of cases, where it's simply more complicated than a comic book.Superman makes it look easy to know who the good guys and bad guys are, exactly what any situation is because he has X-ray vision and the superspeed to be on the scene while the crime is in progress, the power to simply prevent more harm by halting all parties involved if necessary. Most people imagine the alleyway scene where Spiderman saves Mary Jane from the group of shitbags. He PERSONALLY knows MJ is heading home. He sees exactly what transpires. There's no ambiguity, (if you don't consider what the whore was wearing), and he can confidently, righteously, kick the shit out of the bad guys. This is way, WAY different to a woman telling you she was raped after the fact, or even a third party telling you they witnessed it.Consider how they handled 'muh rape' in the old days, (like Old Testament type shit). Women were known to be whores and when caught would very often immediately claim innocence and accuse the man of 'muh rape'. This 'he-said, she-said' bullshit would create a ridiculous situation the same way it does today. Feminists don't think it's 'fair', but they would solve this near-impossible shit by polices of women always being accompanied so she had no excuse to be found alone with some random dude, a shotgun wedding, execute her, or kill them both on the spot. Problem solved one way or the other and literally not society's fucking mess to untangle.
>>224073193I agree with you that "the bombs ended the war" is a giga cope to justify their use>HOWEVERit was a morally good choice, because by showing the world the insane power of the bomb, and the devastation a single one can cause to a city, the US made sure no one would use the bomb haphazardly, and also Stalin was forced to rethink his plans of overrunning Europe.
>>224071466Pointless is what it was. He could have just asked her out to dinner and fucked her that very night. She was into him.
>>224073294I knew we had chuds on here, but I didn't realise there were people who wanted to return to Old Testament laws.
>>224073445Nobody said that, but it would beat the hell out of #BelieveAllWomen. There's a reason things were the way they were traditionally. People figured out women are lying whores long ago and it was ever so. It wasn't 'muh Patriarchy'. If women didn't lie in those kinds of situations and didn't fuck around and cause unnecessary shit then none of that would ever have been necessary. You sure as fuck didn't have time to untangle some fucking whore's rape accusations while you busy trying to survive in the desert during the fucking Bronze Age. Same way you'd have not time for faggots spreading leprosy and God-literally-only-knows-what-else around your tribe, molesting kids, etc.You had to solve problems like that quickly and efficiently, whether an actual God told you to or not.Now people think their so enlightened, but the underlying problem still remains. Just look at that fucking whore Amber Heard. If we burned her as a witch in the town square it would solve a lot of shit and she'd fucking deserve it, so give your ancestors a fucking break.
