What the fuck were they thinking?

>>Being ironic about being goofy is cringe actually.
>The coolest thing is to be genuine about the things you're passionate about, and being kind to others is cool.
>>
>>224076237
this is one of the ugliest most artificial looking movies i've ever seen
>>
>>224076534
It's weird how this entire movie was inspired by people being mean to Gunn on twitter
>>
>>224076741
True. I still haven't come up with another example quite like it all this time later and i watch a LOT of movies

Yeah

No

Ew

>>224076534
Too bad movie is ironic and insincere
Also
>Justice GANG
can't help himself can he
>>
>>224077368
How is that not sincere? They're all in with Justice Gang. A good image of wrapping itself in irony and shame is Captain America saying "Avengers--" only to be cut off before he can say assemble.
>>
Gunn is probably still on Disney's payroll, they're paying him to ruin DC even further so that, by comparison, the worst Marvel movies still do better in box office than anything DC Studios produces. At least, that's the conspiracy theory I could believe.

This one is funny because I’m lost on where the “kindness is the new punk rock” message comes in. Throughout the movie he’s just bitching and killing everyone. Not to mention James changed the origin to settle on a cheap nature vs nurture plot. It’s just a dull flick.

Overreaction to snyderslop

Because the only reason this team is called that is because the initials are the same as James Gunn name.

Superman 2025 has some improvements, like better chemistry between Clark and Lois, whereas the scenes with Cavill and Adams versions were a chore to sit through.
Shame it's so much worse than MoS in action and visual style and score
>>
>>224079099
They already kinda did. Everybody knows it’s an okay movie and that all the people calling it a 10/10 are crazy Gunn fanatics
>>
>>224079209
It’s also lacking some iconic oomph moments. Like first flight and the world engine in MoS are great. Superman has moments but they don’t stand out the way they should.
>>
>>224076237
My relationship with Superman and MoS is very similar to BND and TASM2. I like the former, but the latter has particularly great qualities that are painfully lacking in the former. As for Superman vs BND I prefer BND because it feels like a genuine celebration of the character whereas Superman feels like a spiteful reactionary product that loses its focus.

Superman is, mostly, a character reorientation for Big Blue after a long time of "Evil superman, gritty superman", a completely necessary reorientation IMO, but it has plenty of flaws. Biggest is the bizarre choice with his biological parents, considering the fantastic rerailing of his adoptive parents that completely BTFOs MoS' absolutely retarded kents, the choices with the el's is hard to really understand. Especially when Supergirl (which I watched because I liked superman and liked the comic lol, mistake there) has her parents basically be identical to the typical El depiction. So it ends up being like, okay, so why was his dad like that? I guess it's because Luthor needs to destroy his reputation, but I figure they could've had it be that Luthor ensures something bad happens that could have been stopped if Clark was more violent, to give the parallels the film obviously has to "Whatever happened to Truth, Justice, and the American Way?" even more sense. I dunno. I still liked the movie a lot. MoS has it's virtues as well, despite me disliking its choices for Clark and especially Jonathan, but the other movies in that 'verse' were so bad I have no idea what motivates the snydercult
>>
Is there a Superman videogame? It'd be neat

>Grrr, Superman, you can't save that baby!
Is this why Israel hated the movie so much?
>>
>>224079801
There was an open world Superman Returns game in 2006. It was praised for its flight mechanics but not much else, probably rushed out the door to meet a deadline and unfinished
>>
>>224079715
He changed the Els to do a cheap nature vs nurture story. Not much else to it. Gunn’s storytelling routinely deals with bad parentage, which is a reflection of his own childhood trauma. But it speaks further to Superman who has historically been a horrendously boring character. So it’s just another item in a list of things attempted to spice him up, whether it be MoS’s nolan-esque realist take or Injustice, and now we’re at Absolute.
>>
>>224079846
He didn't save a baby in this though. Pretty sure Tobey and Hellboy are the only capeshitters shown saving a baby
>Is this why Israel hates the movie so much?
It's universally agreed that the obvious political angle was the film's weakest part
>>
>>224076237
>What if RUSSIA was fighting PALESTINE?
That's what they were thinking. The most confused fucking political messaging in all of cinematic history. Obvious Palestine was being oppressed by Obvious Russia, because they damn well better not show Obvious Israel in a bad light.
Stupidest fucking shit that year.
>>
>Boy I really want a Superman game!
You mean a flying simulator? Tell me how is combat supposed to work? You just want a copy paste of PlayStation Spiderman but haven’t put any actual thought into it.
>>
>>224076237
Settle down, ranjeet. It was pretty good.
>>
>>224079927
That scenario is a commentary on Israel-Palestine, but has just enough Russia-Ukraine flavored cosmetic aspects that they could have plausibly denied the Israel stuff if they had to. Like if too many big groups or figures accused the movie of being antiseptic.
e.g. the Boravian invaders have uniforms which look more like Ukrainian ones than Russian ones
>>
>>224080016
Nope, obvious mixing of two different conflicts. Israelis don't sound Russian.
>>
>>224080237
That's a cosmetic aspect. The scenario still only makes sense as an Israel-Palestine commentary.
Consider how the Boravian leader, while played by a Croatian actor and trying to seem Eastern European, is more like a caricature of Netanyahu than of Putin.
irl Russia is not armed and supported by the USA and does not function as a proxy for them. Israel does.
>>
>>224076237
They were thinking "I hope this movie makes a billion dollars and beat a 2013 Superman movie at the box office".

Imagine the butt-hurt Gunntards felt when they realized that Superman wasn't going to make a billion and it wasn't going to beat Man Of Steel.

Biggest flop of 2025 and even the Netflix CEO confirms it, saying it underperformed (IE: Flopped!).
